The night of the Rose Operation
Author POV
You were terrified.
The ghoul-- no, the monster in front of you was killing investigators from the left to the right so easily like it was just a game for him.
You grew tired of this situation, so you decided to step into action, to put an end to all of this. You looked around for your teammates. They were either fighting or laying on the ground in pain as they tried to regenerate as fast as they could.
You took a deep breath as you took off your white trench coat, letting it hit the ground, while you got out your quinque. Your idea was crazy, but you had to do it. Even if it will cost you a leg or an arm, you had do it. For everyone's sake...
You ran to the ghoul as you tried to land a hit on him, but in result, you got your quinque destroyed in a matter of seconds. Your plan B was far crazier than the first one, but still... You decided that you will fight...
"My quinque's no good..." you thought while running to the ghoul, trying to activate your Qs powers. "If I don't do something about this... everyone will die! Investigator Ito... Kuroiwa... Urie and Shirazu... Saiko and Mutsuki... More! I need more! I can't die and leave everyone behind!! More, more, more, more, more!!"
You were cutting with your kagune the ghoul's flesh and kagune mess with all of your power as the steel that covered your kakuhou started to crack bit by bit, making you feel weaker with every second.
"You fucking monster!!" You yelled, getting ready for another attack. "If it can heal from that... then, there's nothing more I can do..." you thought as you took a deep breath
Your kagune started to act like crazy as it continued to cut through that flesh that tried to kill you as it killed others.
"Urie!! That enough fire cover for ya?!" You yelled at the mentioned male as you took aim again, looking at Urie who had a shocked expression as some blood covered your face. "It's up to you now!!"
"([L/N]... [L/N]... [L/N]!)" Thought Urie as he was getting up while his kagune started to form on his arm. "(Don't you die on us... [L/N]!!!)"
Running to the ghoul, Urie's kagune slashed his head off where his koukahou was, killing it, finishing what you started.
Panting, Urie's kagune faded away as he was looking around for you in the mess that engulfed the whole place.
"[L/N]..." Urie muttered, looking at you who took a big hit in your lower back, a big part of it missing, leaving you with a hole in your abdomen
You looked at Urie as blood was running down on your face, giving him a smug smirk before you lost balance and fell flat on your back.
"[L/N]!" Yelled Urie, running to you
"[Y/N]-chan!" Yelled Saiko, doing the same
"[Y/N]!" Shirazu shouted, running to the three investigators
"[L/N]-chan!" Mutsuki exclaimed, running to you all
"I took a pretty nasty hit..." you chuckled soflty while Urie held you to make you face the ceiling. "Don't worry... guys... it'll heal... we're... quinxes..."
"(The wound's too deep. Will it heal?!) It's okay, don't talk... (No, it has to, it has to heal!)" Muttered Urie. "(It's okay, the regeneration's starting)" he thought as he looked at the flesh that slowly started to regenerate, but it wasn't enough
"Where's Sasaki...?" You whispered, trying your best to keep on breathing. "I wanna see him... No real reason... but I wanna see him... now..."
"Investigator Sasaki will be here... Just calm down and breathe" replied Urie. "This is just a scratch for someone with our regenerative abilities. With proper treatment and plenty of rest, you'll recover. Rest up for two weeks and you'll be..."
"[N/N], we have to get you to a hospital" cried Saiko
"What'll... happen if I die here?" You asked, breathing heavily as you felt a cold shiver going down your spine and your eyelids felt heavy
"Don't be stupid..." frowned Urie. "(They had lost too much blood and the tissue damage is bad) You'll be fine... So...(Shit!! Where the hell are the medics?!!)"
"[Y-Y/N]..." muttered Shirazu, as heavy tears started to roll down on his face
"[N/N]..." cried Saiko
"[L/N]-chan..." muttered Mutsuki as he started to cry as well
"Urie... Saiko... Shirazu... Mutsuki... Why aren't you guys saying anything?" You asked as your eyes looked for the three mentioned people
"[L/N]...?" Muttered Urie as he looked at you with a scared facial expression
"Guys... where are you... talk to me... I can't... Is anybody... Is anybody there...? I can't hear a thing..." you muttered, looking for your teammates as the others yelled your name, but you couldn't hear a thing from what they were saying. "It's so quiet... am I... gonna disappear...? I'm scared... I'm scared... I'm scared! Hold my hand..."
"Don't worry! We're right here!!' Shouted Urie. "Yonebayashi, Shirazu, Mutsuki, me! We're all here!!"
"Mom... If I die... let her go... painlessly..." you whispered with your eyes half closed
"What the hell are you talking about?! [L/N]... you're going to make money for her... you're going to pay her treatment for her RC cell over-secretion... for her disease, aren't you?!" Shouted Urie as tears started to form in the corner of his eyes. "How're you gonna do that if you die here, huh?! You took out a rate SS... When the operation is over, you'll get payed bigtime! A thousand... no, more like two thousand!! This was... this was your achivement, [L/N]! You did it! It's all yours, [L/N]! So, please..."
All of his words, trying to make you hold onto your life were all in vain...
You took your final breath... and you were gone...
"[L-L/N]...?" Muttered Urie, shaking you by the shoulders
"[N/N]?" Saiko muttered as heavy tears were rolling down on her face
"N-no..." muttered Mutsuki
"[Y/N]..." muttered Shirazu before he started to yell. "[Y/N], don't do this! Wake up! [Y/N]!!"
"[N/N], please!" Yelled Saiko as she tried to shake you by the shoulders
But everything they did now was pointless... You were gone... forever...
Urie, who was still holding your body that started to get cold, clenched his teeth to choke back a sob, but the pain was unbearable and tears started to fall from his eyes...
"DON'T YOU FUCKING DARE DIE ON US, DAMN IT!!!" Shouted Urie from the top of his lungs as more tears streamed down on his face
"N-no, noooo... [N/N]..." cried Saiko as she started to shed more tears
"[Y-Y/N]... N-no... No..." Muttered Shirazu shocked as Mutsuki just stared at you, shocked as well while tears continued to roll down on his face
The Quinx squad had lost a member... and no pain could compare with the one they all felt now... The pain of losing a teammate... The pain of losing a member from the Quinx Squad family...
Heavy footsteps could be heard as the Qs squad refused to let go of their teammate's body when Washuu's figure was revealed to all the investigators there that were still alive.
"Investigator Washuu...? What are you doing here?" Asked Takeomi Kuroiwa confused as the mentioned male looked around
"Anybody left who can still fight?" Washuu asked, ignoring Takeomi as he looked around. "The one-eye has shown up, we need people. Takeomi Kuroiwa and... Kuki Urie. You two can still fight, right?"
"It doesn't bother you?" Asked Urie in a lower voice as he tried his hardest to not snap. "Don't you feel anything in the face of what happened here?"
"No" Washuu answered as Urie clicked his tongue in annoyance and Shirazu clenched his fist. "I thought you'd want to come, but... oh, well... Kuki Urie... I had... high hopes for you" continued Washu, walking away
"That son of a bitch..." muttered Shirazu, frowning

Sasaki came a bit later after, looking shocked at what happened there as Urie got up, letting Shirazu hold your body, looking at Sasaki like he was going to kill him right there, right now.
"[L/N]... they wanted to see you. If only... you had gotten back earlier!!" Urie yelled as Sasaki had a neutral look on his face
"It's my fault?" Sasaki asked in a monotone voice. "Who was fighting alongside them, Urie?"
"Me..." muttered Urie as Sasaki started to walk away from him to the rest of the squad
"All the disadvantages in this world are due incompetence. If you want to curse something, curse you own weakness" continued Sasaki as Urie fell on his knees on the ground
Shirazu looked at Sasaki with a scowl on his face as the black haired male kneeled in front of your body before he let out a painful sigh.
From that day on... the Quinx squad wasn't going to be the same anymore...

Time skip
6 months later
Saiko POV
Six months have passed and it still hurts... It still feels like something, or rather someone is missing. The squad is incomplete now without them...
Since that day, Maman had left us and started working independently, going by the alias Black Reaper...
Since that day, Shirazuki gave back Uri-boy his spot as the squad leader, since he thought that he was an awful leader, but he soon was given the spot for the deputy squad leader.
Since that day, Uri-boy started to show more emotions and we all could see clearly that he was hurting maybe a little bit more than the others.
Since that day, Mutsi started to ignore us to the point where he left us as well for the S3 squad.
And as for me... Since that day, I started to work harder than before, trying to be a good teammate.
And now that [Y/N]-chan is gone... Who is going to stop the fights that start between some of the teammates? Who is going to play video games with me? Who is going to spend the nights with me, binge watching Netflix?
Who is going to be my best friend if they are gone...?
Since that day, the Quinx squad was never the same...

Shirazu POV
It's been six months already... but it still feels like it just happened yesterday... All of these events had opened a gap between every squad member...
Since that day, Sassan turned so cold and ignored us to the point where he left us...
Since that day, Urie started to show more emotions and I can see on his face that even today, he's still hurting like it just happened yesterday...
Since that day, Saiko started to work harder on cases with us. She wasn't slacking off anymore...
Since that day, Mutsuki left us as well for the S3 squad since Sassan wasn't a part of the Qs anymore...
And as for me, since that day, I gave Urie back the spot as the squad leader. I don't think I'm capable of being a leader anymore, but I'm trying my hardest as the deputy squad leader.
The Chateau feels so empty without the others...
I want to go back to those days...

Urie POV
Six months felt like only one day... They passed by too fast and everything seems like it just happened yesterday... I can still see them... I can still see how they gave up on life so easily... and it sttill hurts...
Since that day, Sasaki left the squad, doing things on his own.
Since that day, Shirazu gave me the spot as the squad leader as he became the deputy leader.
Since that day, Yonebayashi started to act like a member of the squad.
Since that day, after Sasaki left, Mutsuki decided to leave the squad as well for the S3.
And as for me, since that day, I became again the squad leader.
I am aware that I show emotions, but it's the least I can do. Too many events happened and I can't hide the emotions I feel...
It feels so empty without them...

I couldn't stay with them anymore... It felt wrong to me...
Even though I miss all of them, I had to do it...
From all I've heard, they're doing pretty well as a squad...
I miss [L/N]-chan as much as they do...
I just wish I could spend time with them again like we did in the good days...

Sasaki POV
Even though I left the Qs squad and people accused me for being heartless... their death... it still makes me feel sad...
They were too young and had a bright future ahead.
Not every being on this Earth can live forever. There needs to be a balance, otherwise the world won't function anymore...
But even when I didn't have my memories, the Quinx squad was like my second family... Maybe I shouldn't have been so harsh...
I hope they can forgive me, one day...
