Author's Note: This one-shot was requested to @AndieRomo. They really enjoyed some of my work and I wanted to thank them by dedicating this one-shot to them as well. I do not support bullying and as a fellow decent human being and bully-victim, I say that it needs to stop so, speak up.
(Y/n)'s P.O.V.
It started out like any other day. I woke up went to the gym to work out and exercise to stay in shape for hero-ing. I know from looking at me I don't seem like much because all the extra weight in some parts of my body but that's how I'm able to keep my secret from the public. They call me 'Guardian Angel' because I have six wings attached to my back with gold armor and white clothing showing through some parts of the armor or just in plain sight to cover my skin. When I am in my superhero alias, I'm muscularly fit but when I am a civilian, I'm chubby. The extra weight comes from my wings being absorbed into my body. I don't mind how I look but some people find it gross, so I tend not to pay much attention to them. I was finishing the last bit of my five-mile run when my phone started ringing. I stopped and took the call.
"Hello?"
"Good morning gorgeous, how are you doing this morning?"
"Just fine, Dick, just finishing up my run. What's the call for?"
"Nothing just wanted to hear your beautiful voice. You look nice in those yoga pants, but you would look better without them on. You know we have a meeting in an hour with everyone up in the Tower, right?"
"How do you know I'm wearing yoga pants? Are you following me? I know that is why I'm heading back to my apartment. Did you want to take the suit off and chill until I'm ready?"
"Maybe. Look up and to your left." I did as he said and saw him hanging on the fire escape attached to my window. He noticed that I was looking at him and he smiles and waved at me. I shook my head and ended the call. I finished my run when I got to the front of my apartment building and hurried into my suite. I opened the window for Dick and went to go get my underclothes for my armor. I grabbed everything and was headed for my bathroom when Dick stepped in front of me. He gently wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed me on my lips.
"I love when you do that but I'm all sweaty gross. Let me shower then you get more kisses." I said as I wiggled out of his grasp and ran into the bathroom locking the door. The last time Dick walked in on me he ended up getting severely injured and the silent treatment for a month. He learned his lesson from that experience. If you haven't figured it out yet. Dick Grayson and I are dating and have been for almost a year now. I smiled at all the fun and happy memories and frowned at the bad ones while I finished up my shower. I finished with the underclothes and wraps for my armor and walked out of the bathroom. Dick was waiting for me in my room with my armor ready to be put on. I shook my head at him and walked over to the bed where he was lounging on. I snapped my fingers and my armor attached to my body a perk of being a part angel. An alien race that is different from Hawkgirl because we have magic inside our bodies while they make objects that have magic in them plus they are a hawk-like race while we are literal embodiments of light and pureness.
"You know I wanted to help put it on you." He said as he got up and hugged me.
"I know but there is no need. Maybe later you can help me take it off." I softly whispered into his ear. I could feel his smirk as he leaned away from me and pulled me up into a desperate kiss. "We don't have time to be playing this game if you want up to make there on time. Where is my mask?" I asked him as I ended the kiss. He sighed and pulled my mask out of his utility belt and gently placed it onto my face. "Thank you," I said as I gave him a kiss. After that, we headed out to the beaming location. We made it to the roof of my apartment building, and I let my wings out. I stretched them and shook them out letting them fluff up slightly then smoothed my feathers down. The whole time Dick was staring at me and my wings. I turned to look at him and smiled. "Want to touch them?" I asked while I adjusted my armor to my thinner body along with my weapons to my belt that is now falling off my hips. I heard shuffling while I was adjusting clothing and straps when I stopped because I felt a hand on one of my wings. I stiffed when the hand touched me and then purred when the hand started to stroke my wing. Dick pulled his and away and he buried himself into the back of me as he nestled into my wings.
"They are super soft. Why can't we skip the meeting?"
"Because you are in charge of a team and I'm just a member of the league. If we were just vigilantes, we wouldn't need to go but sadly we have to. Now off!" I said as I shook my wings again and grabbed Dick's waist so I could get us there faster. I took off into the night with Dick screaming like a little girl until we touched the ground again.
Time Skip: To the Meeting in the Watch Tower.
When we got to the Watch Tower, we were rushed off into the meeting room with all the minor league members. Why I was there I had no clue, but I just stayed towards the back until the full-time league members wanted to be in the meeting as well. Dick was upfront with Batman directing the meeting when a few league members couldn't fit or see because of my wings so I pulled them into my body like normal making me chubby again. Everyone was finally filed into the room and I was pushed towards the front. I was listening to the meeting when giggles and chuckles were heard from beside me. I looked out of the corner of my eye to see who it was and saw that it was Starfire. I knew he has had a crush on Dick since she came to Earth but gave up a year later after meeting me. We got together and she has been trying to break us up ever since. She was whispering to some of the other team members on her team about me. She was really dishing it out since I don't have my wings out making my physical appearance chubby. I was jealous that she doesn't need to hide her powers, has a beautiful complexion, and figure, or anything since she is funded by the league and I'm not, so I had to get a job to live and do hero work to keep everyone safe from visible and un-celestial threats.
"I can't believe that fatty is dating Nightwing, he could do so much better like me." She whispered loud enough for me to hear and her friends and people around her to laugh or frown. I kept a straight face not even acknowledging her but deep down that really hurt me. "Why is she even a league member? I bet the league felt bad for her that's why she was allowed to join." She questioned then continued to insult me and ridicule me in front of others. "She should just break up with him and kill herself." I sighed and began to shove my way out of the meeting because I could get the information from Batman later. I made my way to the door when Superman stopped me.
"Guardian Angel, where are you going?" He asked. Even I could tell that he was worried, and he knew and could hear what others were saying about to me.
"Anywhere but here," I said as I went to get past him. He stopped me yet again and started to move me towards the front but stopped when we both got to the side of the stage. He signaled Batman over and he came. They were whispering with each other when I decided that I wanted to go do something productive to get my mind off of the events that just happened to not cry as well. I have never felt so much hate and self-doubt in my life. I turned to leave when a hand grabbed my wrist. I looked to see who it was and saw that it was Dick. Batman was on stage finishing the meeting when he suddenly said, "We have a special announcement that I would like everyone to hear from Nightwing. I would also like to invite Guardian Angel up onto the stage as well." I was confused and looked at Dick he went up onto the stage to get the mic from Batman just assuming that I would follow him, but I was scared and shocked, to say the least. I went towards the stage when I heard Starfire say, "Fat *ss." Then coughed acting like she didn't say anything. I stopped and couldn't move anymore. I could feel the worried eyes of Batman, Superman, and Dick as he started talking but he stopped when he saw that I was not on the stage. He placed the mic down and came to me.
"(Y/n) what's wrong?"
"I can't go out there. I just can't Dick."
"Of course, you can. You're the strongest willed woman I met nothing stops her. So, tell me what's wrong."
"You don't get it, do you?"
"Get what, (Y/n)?"
"I can't stand out there with you looking like this and I can't pull myself together enough to let my wings out. I just can't."
"(Y/n). I love you. I love you no matter what. No matter what you look like. Wings, no wings. Armor, no armor. I love you chubby or physically fit. I didn't fall for you only on looks but you have to trust me when I say that you want to go out onto that stage with me. Ignore what they say, okay? Right now, it doesn't matter. Now come, love." I sniffled and held his hand as he led me onto the stage in front of everyone on the league. I couldn't stare at any of them because I was nervous but in the very back, I could see Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl with Martian Manhunter smiling gently at me telling me that it was okay and relax. "Okay, now that we have Guardian Angel up on stage with me, I have an important question to ask her." He said. I turned to him in a questioning manner until I saw him on one knee with a ring box open to see a beautiful ring. "Will you Guardian Angel be the honor of being my one and only for the rest our lives and all the way into our forever? Will you be my love and loving angel?" He asked. I was shocked. I started crying tears of joy and covered my face with my hands to hide my tears. I nodded my head in the 'yes' manner at him and I could see a wide smile as he got up and pulled my left hand from my face and put the ring on my ring finger. I smiled at it then at him and jumped into his arms still without my wings out. I pulled away only to hear a scream from the crowd and looked to see Starfire charging towards us. I released my wings and wrapped them around Dick and I as she fired one of her beams at me. I opened my wings to see where she is to get a punch to my face. I took the hit and stumbled back slightly. Dick tried to get into the fight when I gave him a look to not get involved and he didn't. My eyes shined white and my body glowed white as I changed into my full celestial form blinding Starfire and anyone who tried to look while I transformed. I had another set of wings and all of the feathers were white and white gold armor covered them as an elegant silk gown hung from my body. A white gold chest plate, arm guard and shin guards covered those parts of my body. My mask was gone, and a white gold wreath was intertwined in my hair along with swirls and stars decorated my face. "Stop, Starfire."
"He was supposed to love me! Not you! You're just some pig. A nothing. Give him back." She yelled at me. I sighed and flicked her away from me with my wrist as she charged at me again.
"He has a will of his own. If he didn't choose you then ask him why or better yet ask yourself. Jealously it pointless. You will not grow from it." I said as I looked at her.
"No this is all your fault!" She got up and fired more beams at me. Some of them would have hit others because of poor aim so I shielded everyone as screams were heard and people running out.
"You need to stop. You are going to hurt someone. Hate never wins it brings nothing but destruction and chaos. Look around you. Who is the cause of this?" I asked as I walked over towards her as she looked around. The gown flowed elegantly around me as I approached her. My feet never touched the ground as I walked, and my wings never flapped to make me move towards. She collapsed to the ground in tears. "Starfire, you will find someone who loves you, but you need to understand that it's not Nightwing. Come, rest." I said as I gently caressed her face and tapped her forehead with my index finger. She collapsed into a deep sleep in my arms. I picked her up and walked over to Superman as he stared at me in shock and disbelief. "Take her to the infirmary to rest. She is asleep." He nodded and smiled at me.
"If I didn't already know that you are part alien, I would have thought completely that you are an angel of the Lord almighty. Thank you on behalf of the league and you are always appreciated here. It took a bigger person to do that, (Y/n)." He said as he walked away, and I smiled at him. He was always inspiring. Dick ran over and hugged me.
"I love you. I love you so much. Please, never do that again." He said in the crook of my neck.
"I love you, too. I'll never do that again. I actually have to go back to normal or I'll pass out and I have work in the morning." I said. He nodded and I transformed into my normal form, chubby and all. He kissed my lips as I smiled and passed out into his arms. When I woke up the next morning I was in my bad and Dick was asleep next to me.
"I called your job and told them you're sick, so we can spend more time together. I love you."
"I love you too. Thank you. Let's get back to sleep then Waffles when we wake up?" I asked and he nodded his head and cuddled into me more. I smiled and fell asleep. I knew that this is going to be a wonderful rest of my life.
