When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low but the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit...
Rest if you must, but don't you quit!
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many failures turn about
When we might have won had we stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow...
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out...
And you can never tell how close you are
It may be near when it seems so far.
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

AUGUST – Our August contest has come to an end; we will be announcing our winner in next week's Chatter!! We would like to send out a huge thank you to everyone who has participated in our Super Summer Contests!! You all are SUPERHEROES!!
SEPTEMBER – There will be no regular contest this month, because we will be starting our 4th Annual Biggest Competition Ever on September 8th.
4TH ANNUAL BIGGEST COMPETION EVER –
THE COUNTDOWN HAS BEGUN!!
Our 4th Annual Biggest Competition Ever will start on September 8th and run through November 2nd. It is an 8-week competition where we post a new poetry challenge each week, there will be weekly winners as well as an overall winner. All winners along with the winners of our regular monthly contests will be eligible to participate in our final competition of the year, the Poets Pub Poet of the Year 2019!!
This year we will have a participation sticker for everyone that joins in and we will also have stickers and shout-outs for the weekly winners.
We are asking all Pubbers to help us get the word out about our 4th Annual BCE!! Invite all your friends to join in...the more the merrier!!!

Busted Gulch Update – Lyttlejoe's Busted Gulch Volume 11 –
3Gun finally came to and was saddened to hear the new about Lou. Petra furious over the events of the past few weeks looked to Buck for justice. With Denver doing better now he decided to put some of his affairs in order. He set up some trust funds to be managed by a law firm, one for the orphanage and one for a medical clinic. Sister Mary and the Doc were, of course, overjoyed and grateful. As Rue was taking care of Billy, she found the ring he had bought for her. Lou's funeral hit everyone hard. Buck pondered the many questions that were left unanswered, feeling frustrated that he was not in a position to find the answers. Petra decided she needed some time alone. The ladies returned to Busted Gulch from their shopping trip, all were shocked and saddened by the new that awaited them. Rosetta headed to Oh Aces and found Bruce, believing he had killed Lou and Shamus, he explained he hadn't. Brandy Vine, another Black Dimond, showed up to talk Rosetta down. Brody and Bella shared an indoor picnic and a very passionate kiss.

OLD/NEW/CONTINUING WORKS
New and Continuing Works
September 1, 2019 and today I start my craziest challenge ever. Between today and the end of 2020, I am going to fill 10 volumes (or more) with poems and poetic snippets. That adds up to 2000 poems in 16 months. Piece of cake. Lol. Actually I expect to be finished by the end of next summer and then I will just continue adding to it.
This is actually more of an exercise in writing than trying to prove I can achieve a certain goal. I love to write poems and I often scrap hundreds of poems a year because of lack of interest in finishing them. Many of these will find their way into these collections. I honestly do not expect many people to read much of these collections. And you may ask why do I do it then. Because I'm crazy. Lol. Actually I just love to write.
I have offered up this challenge to all, but so far only one, MysteriousDryad, has accepted the challenge. I think people are looking at this as a daunting task. Its not really. Just 4-5 poems a day. So why not give it a try.
I will actually be writing in 3 or 4 volumes at once as I will be separating the different styles of poetry. So far I have decided on a general collection, a haiku/senryu collection, a collection of 2 line inspirational and a collection of my own poetry styles. I am sure more will come. A pic of my cover for Volume 1 is below.

That ancient tree, don't let it fall
Until old age is knelling;
So many things it can recall,
What tales it could be telling.
We once did see its blossom-haul
Each branch with fruit was swelling.
That ancient tree, don't let it fall,
You must not think of felling!
Now to be journeying I yearn
But yet the truth in part is
One does but travel to return,
For home is where one's heart is.
When this old tree stands blossom-tall,
I'm nearly home it's telling;
That ancient tree, don't let it fall,
