Lmao this is just gonna be a film-based lookbook or whatever cause I can't choose a single style.
I love, love, love Raphina's (Lucy Boynton) style from Sing Street (2016). Technically Sing Street isn't an 80s movie but it takes place in the 80s so it's close enough. Her makeup is so sick and grungy, and those accessories are amazing.
Sloane Peterson (Mia Sara) from Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) also has a really cool style. I like her baggier blouse paired with the block-y, business-looking, high-waisted shorts.
She looks like such a badass lady boss in that outfit. And all the time. Side note: Ferris' (Matthew Broderick) jacket is cool, too.
Everyone's jacket in Dream a Little Dream (1989) is really cool. The rest of their outfits are kind of questionable but I kinda like them anyways cause they're so unique and interesting lol.
Maggie's (Kerri Greene) hairstyle and top in Lucas (1986) is so cute, ahhh. So sweet and simple.
I love every single one of Cindy's (Amanda Peterson) outfits in Can't Buy Me Love (1987), but I can't find photos of decent quality, so just watch the movie and you'll understand. Those earrings and her hair are so perfect. And the blazer, oh my gosh.
Another outfit of hers is the knit sweater paired with a brown pleated skirt. Ronald's (Patrick Dempsey) wearing a cool patterned button-down shirt as well.
Amanda, Kieth, and Watts (Lea Thompson, Eric Stoltz, Mary Stuart Masterson) from Some Kind of Wonderful (1987) have cool styles, too. You've got the casual prep, emo artist, and badass punk drummer.
Molly Ringwald's style: hair, suit, and all, are so awesome in this photo of The Breakfast Club & John Hughes (they're missing my boy Anthony Michael Hall, oof).
Veronica and JD (Winona Ryder, Christian Slater) are a really fashionable (albeit crazy) couple in Heathers (1988). I like Veronica's solid blue tee paired with the patterned skirt, as well as JD's bad boy look made complete with his long, black leather trench coat.
Lastly, Bev Marsh's (Sophia Lillis) olive overalls outfit from IT (2017). Another film that takes place in the 80s but is from the 2010s. Also, y'all better ship Benverly, I ain't havin' any of that Billverly shit, no offense. Like in the 2017 movie I guess Billverly is cute, but in the 1990 version – Benverly all the way.
To recap, I love giant blazers, cool jackets, baggy shorts and tops, and dangly earrings. Also, chunky sweaters and flowy or patterned skirts. Grungy, alternative fashion / business casual boss lady / laidback but cute outfits. And scrunchies. I forgot to mention scrunchies.
Also, I'm lowkey in love with Raphina, Sloane, and Cindy lmao. Fun fact.
