It feels weird to ask her about her after I just laid out the worst of the worst and then told her I'm a music producer in London.
She cried but overall I think she took everything fairly well considering she found out. I was a drug addict who went to rehab twice, and I tried to kill myself.
I try to stay chipper but it feels weird. "so what about you how has the last 5 years treated you?"
She sort of gives me a look and just says "I really had no idea you went through all of that, and I am sorry for hating you, i just feel awful." clearly ignoring what i asked.
I tell her "it's okay Tess, I really am good now."
I can tell she is in this weird spot where she really does believe I'm good, but because I just told her it's still really fresh to her so it doesn't seem as far away as it actually was.
"how long is it then?' she asks
"how long is what?" i question back
"how long have you been sober?" she asks
"4 years and 5 months." I tell her.
She seems puzzled as to how she should respond. She just says, "that's good."
"can i please just hear about you?" I insist.
