"Daddy! Wake up!" Thomas said with fear in his voice.
The 3-year-old poked Jeremy's forehead repeatedly, but Jeremy being a bit of a heavy sleep, it didn't work. Thomas then decided to smack Jeremy's head and this time it worked. Jeremy woke up a bit angry and confused, but the minute he saw Thomas with tears running down his face, Jeremy's protective mood turned on.
"Thomas, what's wrong?" He asked rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
"I had a nightmare..." Thomas whispered, his little voice shaking slightly.
Jeremy frowned, picking Thomas up and placing him on the bed between the two of you. Jeremy's arms wrapped around Thomas, giving him a hug and telling him everything was going to be okay. The noise and movement finally woke you.
"Jeremy? Thomas?" You whispered, your voice heavy from sleep.
"He had a nightmare, baby doll," Jeremy explained quietly.
Thomas reached out to you and you moved closer, wrapping your arms around him and Jeremy.
"What was it about, sweetheart?" You asked running your hand through Thomas' hair.
"I had a dream that you and Daddy left me and I was all alone..."
Jeremy frowned and looked over at you, tightening his grip around the two of you. Thomas' fear was something Jeremy was all too familiar with, having the same nightmares about his mom leaving him too when he was a child.
"Thomas, Mommy and I will never, ever leave you alone. We love you so much and we would never want to leave your side." Jeremy reassured him.
"You promise?" He asked looking at Jeremy.
"Promise."
"Mommy?"
"I promise too, sweetheart."
Thomas smiled, snuggling up between you and Jeremy, closing his eyes, knowing he was safe in your guys' arms.
Pyro
"Mommy! Daddy!" Mary screamed, waking up you and Phoenix from your sleep.
"Mary," Phoenix muttered to himself, slipping out of bed and bolting out of your room.
You quickly followed, hot on his heels. Her cries grew louder as you two got close to her room. When you open the door you noticed a lump underneath her sheets and her hands holding the hem of the blanket tight over her head. Phoenix sat on the bed and gently pulled back to the blanket. Mary's small fingers gripped the blanket, crying trying to keep the blanket on her.
"Princess, it's Daddy," He whispered. "It's just Daddy."
Mary peered out from under the blanket.
"Mommy, get on the bed! The monsters will get you, please Mommy!" She cried frantically.
You knew there were no monsters but you still got on the bed to calm Mary's worries. Phoenix picked Mary up and placed her in his lap.
"It's okay, Mary. It was just a bad dream, there are no monsters." Phoenix whispered running his finger through her hair. "You're stuffed animals come to life when you sleep and they fight them until you wake up. They would never let any monster hurt you."
"What if they fail?!" Mary asked.
"They can never fail, the love you give them is so strong that one punch takes down any monsters." You explained and added to Phoenix's little story.
"Mommy is right, you'll always be safe with your fluffy friends."
Mary looked at her pink unicorn and smiled grabbing it and giving it a hug. Mary crawled back onto the bed and you tucked her back into bed. Pheonix placed a few more stuffed animals and placed them all over the bed, so they can protect Mary. You and Pheonix stayed with Mary until she fell back to sleep before you two headed back to bed.
Medic
It was 3 in the morning, and Ludwig had been working on one of his experiments when he decided to call it a night. Before he headed to your guys' room, he had gotten a drink from the kitchen. As he headed to bed, he heard a faint sound of crying. He figured it was Jeremy crying about rainbows or something stupid, but when listening closer he realized the cry sounded too young to be Jeremy or any of the other mercenaries. Ludwig moved closer to the couch where the crying came from and he discovered Gilbert. The 4-year-old was curled up in a ball, crying into one of the couch pillows.
"Gilbert?" Ludwig said getting the young boy's attention. "Vat are jou doing out here and vhy are jou crying?"
Ludwig kneeled down in front of the couch to be at eye level with Gilbert. Gilbert sniffled as he sat up on the couch.
"I had an n-nightmare," He cried. "and I didn't want to wake Amelie up with my crying."
"Do jou vant to tell me vhat it vas about?" Ludwig asked running his fingers through Gilbert's hair.
Gilbert stayed silent for a moment before finally talking.
"It was about him... the man in blue."
Ludwig sighed, he knew Gilbert was talking about the Blu Medic. Gilbert had wanted to go exploring and snuck away from you and Ludwig. He ended up outside, where he ran into the Blu Medic. He would have hurt Gilbert if it was for Ludwig finding them and protecting his son from the enemy Medic.
"He can't hurt jou, Gilbert, I von't let him get anywhere near jou," Ludwig promised.
Gilbert smiled hugging Ludwig. Ludwig was caught off guard by the hug but smiled hugging the little back.
"Let's get jou back to bed," Ludwig said picking up Gilbert.
Ludwig carried Gilbert into his and Amelie's bedroom. Amelie was still fast asleep in her bed. Ludwig placed Gilbert down on his bed and covered him with the blanket.
"Goodnight, Gilbert," Ludwig whispered as he got up. "I love you."
"I love you, too, Daddy."
Sniper
You and Mundy were fast asleep when you heard little feet run into your room. The bottom of your bed dipped down, and you felt something crawl under your arms. You looked down to realize it when Jack.
"Jack, what's wrong?"
"Mommy, I'm scared..."
"Why? What happened?" You asked.
Jack didn't say anything, he just buried his face in your arms.
"Baby, what's wrong?"
You moved your arm a bit to see that Jack was crying. The sound of the 4-year-old cries broke Mundy out of his sleep.
"Why are you crying, roo?" Mundy asked, rubbing his eyes.
"I... I had n-nightmare about the blue monster again."
You moved your hand to Jack's cheek, wiping away his tears.
"He can't hurt you, Jack, it was just a dream. You're safe." You told him.
"Besides, even if the blue monster was here, he would have to get past me, which is impossible," Mundy said making the young boy smile.
"Can I say in here, just in case?" Jack asked.
"Sure, sweetie." You told him.
Jack snuggled up against you and Mundy.
"I love you, Mommy and Daddy," Jack said before closing his eyes
"We love you too, roo."
Spy
Every since Marinette was born, Jacques had a habit of getting up in the middle of the night to check on her. Since his job is so dangerous, he always worried someone would want to hurt his little girl to get to him. Even though it was highly impossible for someone to be stupid enough to take someone in a place filled with deadly mercenaries, Jacques couldn't stop worrying. Tonight was no different. Jacques woke up at 2 in the morning and made his way to Marinette's room. He quietly opened the door and he expected to see Marinette fast asleep like always, but she wasn't she was wide awake and she was crying. Jacques' mind went wild with worry, why was his little girl crying, did someone try to hurt her, were they still there, he was going to kill them if they were.
"Papa?" Marinette's voice knocked Jacques out of his thoughts.
"Yes, love. It's me." Jacques said coming into the room.
Jacques sat on the bed and it seems as if Marinette was scared of him, which made Jacques confused and heartbroken. Marinette slowly moved closer to Jacques, she reached up and poked his head. Jacques was confused at first, but he soon realized what she was doing. She was Spy checking him.
"It's really you..."
"Of course, it's really me, Mon Ange," Jacques whispered pulling her close.
Marinette hugged Jacques back, burying her face in his chest.
"I had a dream the evil you was here, he disguised as you and he tried to hurt me."
Jacques held Marinette, the thought of the Blu Spy near his daughter made him feel sick to his stomach. The Blu Spy did try to trick Marinette before but was thankful Jeremy was able to see past his disguise and protected Marinette.
"He will never lay a hand, I won't let... and even if I do fail, your mother, Jeremy and the rest of this team will protect you. I can promise you that."
Jacques pulled away to see Marinette had stopped crying and he wiped her tears away.
"Can I sleep with you and Mommy tonight?"
"Of course."
Jacques picked up the young girl and carried her back to your guys' room.
