I bet this will be a long ride. And it was. We didn’t even talk. I felt uneasy with him. And whenever I looked at him, he seemed irritated. I couldn’t help not to think he’s still mad at me. His hand is on the steering wheel while his other hand was on his forehead. He must be thinking about something. I don’t know.
I looked at the side mirror of the car and saw Gajeel’s car is following us. I even saw Levy waved her hands on me. I smiled.
And then I got bored. There’s no music. We didn’t even talk. No sound. And I’m getting sleepy, bored, and hungry and everything.
“How long is the ride?” I finally got the urge to ask. But I looked at the window while asking that.
“Still 3 hours…” he said. That will be long.
“You should sleep.” He said. I shook my head.
“I’m not sleepy.” I said. Even though the ride was a bit sleepy. Then, none of us talked again.
I sighed. This is awkward. I don’t even know what to say. Should I say anything? Why is acting like that? Is it all an act? Does he give up on me? Is he still mad at me? I don’t know. My mind has lots of things going on.
“Why are you picking up on me in class?” I asked. It was almost a whisper but he can still hear it.
“I’m not. I just wanted to help you.” He answered.
“By picking up on me? By embarrassing me for not having your homework done? By getting zero in your exam and announcing it to everyone? Is that what you called helping?” If it is then, no thanks. I rolled my eyes. I still couldn’t forget that day.
“That’s not what I meant to do.” He sighed. “I wanted you to learn.”
“I’m listening to your lectures.” I looked at him now with irritation. But he doesn’t have to do that. He also looked at me, giving a surprise look. Both of his hands are now on the steering wheel.
“My intentions are clear, Juvia. I’ve wanted you to pass my subject.”
“Yeah, by giving your students an exam that no one can answer.” I said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes on him. I care to look outside the cars. More trees and trees I’ve been seeing.
“I’m a teacher. I teach. Those are parts of learning.” He said sternly. Yeah right. I couldn’t hide the irritation in may face. I had to look at the window to stop the conversation. I should have not talked at all.
I heard him sigh again. “I’m sorry if I offended you that way. I should have known.”
“You’re mad at me and you’re getting even with me by doing that.” I said leaning my head in the glass window.
He didn’t say anything. I closed my eyes. I’m right. He’s mad at me. Why is he still here if he’s mad at me? Why stay if he’s upset? Is he planning on some revenge scheme? I took a deep breath. I hope I get all my answers.
I woke up with a slight shake in my shoulder. I slowly opened my eyes. The sun is blinding my eyes. I stretched out my hands and put in my eyes.
“We’re here.” Someone said. Then, my whole body wakes up. I fell asleep on his car. I wipe my eyes.
He already opened the car and he opened the backseat. Yeah, he’s mad. So it’s a cold treatment. I don’t know why I’m expecting something from me. I should have not. I’m just some girl he dated. Maybe, he got tired of this because I can’t remember anything. Was he like that to me even before? I groaned in frustration. I wanted to know. I wanted to remember.
I looked at him as he was getting the bags from the backseat. I thought he was going to leave me there but he didn’t. Instead, he opened the door for me and offered his hand. I didn’t expect it. I can open the door and climbed out of the car. But the way he did that, I felt warm inside.
“Thank you,” I said as I accepted his hands.
“They’re not here yet.” He announced as he looked around. A car followed behind us and I knew it was Levy and Gajeel.
Levy got out of the car and she gave me a creepy smile. She took a glance at my hands and smiled even more. My mouth fell. OH MY GOD!
Gajeel followed Levy and looked at me. His lips lined thin and I could see his jaw clenched as he watched my hands…and Gray’s hand intertwined with each other.
I blushed and panicked that I had to let go off it. I didn’t notice we are holding hands. Gray turned around, surprise with what I did. Then, he saw Gajeel looking at him with ‘What the fvck was that’ look on his face. At that moment, I thought Gajeel was gonna punch Gray. But Gray didn’t flinched. He’s not scared of what Gajeel had seen.
“Gajeel,” He calmly said. He looked at closely to Gray. Then after a while, Gajeel let out a sigh.
“Hold hands? That it?” He asked.
“Yes. Nothing more. I don’t want to go overboard, Gajeel.” He answered. My eyebrow creased. What are these two talking about?
Levy pulled me beside her. “Come on, Juvia. Let’s go inside and wait for the others. Let’s check in while waiting for them.”
We entered the hotel and checked in. Levy said that we had the rented some rest house that will suffice for our friends. It seems we rented the whole establishments. Levy pulled me to the house and search for rooms. The house is cozy and relaxing. A perfect place for this getaway. There’s an overview of from the beach. I took a breath and inhaled the air from the ocean. This feels good.
“This will be our room, Juvia. All girls will be here in this house.” She said as she jumped on the bed.
An hour later, the others came. Mira, Erza, Lucy, Lisanna, and Evergreen, went in the rest house Levy and I chose. We also helped them unpacked things.
I heard Lucy sighed. “This feels really good! After Natsu’s puking in the car, this is quite an escape.” She exclaimed, relaxing herself from the view of the beach.
Everyone laughed at that. Natsu had some kind of motion sickness. When they came here, Natsu was pale and all. Lucy looked horror and has some kind of dirt in her shirt.
“I’ll never forgive that prick,” Lucy said as I saw her nerves on the forehead almost popped.
We came out in the rest house and went to a gazebo near the beach. All of them were there. Some of them are taking a dip n the ocean. I saw Laxus and Gajeel in the grill. Cooking something for lunch. Natsu is sitting beside them, feeling awful about that ride.
“Come here, Juvia. Let’s take a dip.” Levy yelled at me as she was in the water. I smiled and went up to her.
I looked at Erza and Mira who’s looking hot with their swimsuit. Eza is in her black two-piece swimsuit. Mira is wearing red. Levy is wearing a one-piece orange swimsuit. Lucy is on her white two-piece. I am still wearing a shirt and short shorts. It is quite embarrassing.
“Come on, Juvia. Take that shirt and shorts off. You’re not gonna enjoy.” Erza teased. Well, I have no choice. I removed my top and shorts and I’m on my blue two-piece.
The girls cheered as I went on the water. They even splashed water on me and it made me giggled. We laughed and enjoy the water. It feels good. Some guys joined us. We played and laughed together. This seems really fun. And Erza seems enthusiastic and energetic today. All the games we played, she always wins. That’s Erza for you. When we played tug of war in the water, Erza dominated all of us. Still it was fun.
Somebody called us when lunch was ready. Everybody got out in the water. They seemed to be hungry with all of those games. I am too. But I’m afraid to walk out of the water.
My heart is beating fast right now!
Gray was standing on the beach, waiting for me to come out.
“Come on, Juvia. Let’s eat.” Levy said. Levy is such a savior. Glad, she was still here. I nodded and we got out of the water.
I wouldn’t want to be alone with him. It may result in more arguments. I don’t want to ruin his vacation. I don’t want to ruin everyone’s vacation.
When we got out, I saw Gray’s eyes laid on me. My heart beats faster than before. That…That look… That kind of stare he’s giving. And I still couldn’t forget about earlier. When we were caught holding hands by Gajeel and Levy. Gosh!
“You want some lone time with him?” Levy whispered.
“What? No.” I raised my voice. My face turns into tomato.
She laughed at me. When we got closer to Gray, she pushed me to him. Oh what the heck! As I was pushed by Levy, I clumsily slipped my foot and I almost landed at the sand. Gray had caught my waist before I fall.
This is Levy’s fault! I looked at Levy to give her a damn look but she already ran away from us! She’s laughing her ass off while running. Curse you, Levy!
“S-Sorry.” I said as I regained my composure. I stood. We are facing each other so close now. I took a step back.
“You alright?” He asked. I nodded.
It became quiet. He just looked at me after he asked that. He took a step and my breathing hitched. God, he’s coming to me. He looked at my eye and took a step again. I couldn’t have the strength to step back. Instead, I stood there, also looking at him. He took a step again. Now, inches were to count to how far we are in each other now.
“Fvcked it.” He cursed and then stepped away. He removed his shirt. I was welcome with wrinkled eyebrows of him when he turned to me. He handed his shirt on me. I was shocked that I couldn’t even think of what to react. How will I react?
“Put that on!” He said as he turned away from me, hissing and cursing some words I couldn’t imagine to exist.
