My Brothers
- Evanna -

I didn't know what made me want to hug him. Maybe it was the comforting fact I've known him for that long. As soon as my arms went around him, it felt like a bunch of memories just flooded back really quickly.

He was my first kiss?

We were 8.

Then Matthew...

Oh shit.

"S-so you were my f-first kiss?" I asked, pulling away.

He smiled, showing his perfect white teeth. "You probably don't remember. We were together. I told you to close your eyes. And I kissed you. Because I liked you."

I didn't know what to say.

But first of all, he was actually really cute.

"You look a lot different," I told him. "Wow."

He shrugged, running his hand through his hair. "Do I? I got new glasses, and I guess i style my hair pretty different now, huh."

And then I remembered everything he said to me. He said he didn't know if he liked the girl that kissed him. So me.

Do I like him back?

I don't know either.

But I hugged him tightly again. He hugged me back. I was too overwhelmed by everything but I knew he was obviously a really close friend. And now, seeing that I had a small memory of him, I didn't want to lose him.

"What the fuck do you think you're doing?"

I jumped and turned around, the first thing I see being Ethan, staring at us with his arms crossed.

He glared at Taylor. "You have three seconds to run before I beat your ass."

With no hesitation he quickly walked away and turned the corner, shooting one last smile at me.

Before I could say anything, Ethan grabbed my wrist and dragged me to his car. Well, I guess this is it for me.

"Really?" Ethan asked, sighing. "Are you seriously doing this?"

"It's just my friend..." I said quietly. "Am I not allowed to hang out with boys?"

"We just don't want you to get hurt. By anyone."

"But, he won't hurt me," I defended.

"How do you know? You don't know him yet—"

"Actually..."

He raised an eyebrow. "What?"

"He and I used to know each other... so did Jayden," I said. "He was my first ki—"

His eyes widened and I quickly shut my mouth.

Okay now it's seriously over for me.

"Come again?" He asked, crossing his arms.

"H-he... was my... first... k-kickboxing partner, yeah. Kick... boxing." What in the actual world did I just say.

"I can see by the look on your face we both know it's not true," Ethan said. "He was your first kiss?"

"Perhaps."

"Oh I swear to god, the next time I see him, I'm going to beat his ass," he growled. "He kissed you? You? Where? On the lips?"

"From what I remember..."

"Oh hell no," he said. "No fucking way you're ever talking to him."

My jaw dropped. "W-What? E-ethan, come on."

He put his hand out. "Phone."

"W-What?"

"He kissed you," he reminded me. I handed him my phone while huffing.

"We were eight. And you're really overreacting, it's over a boy—"

"Are you giving me an attitude right now," he asked, surprised. "Well, damn."

"It's just a guy—"

"Get in the car."

Thats all he said.

I stared at him to see if he was serious or not but he didn't even look at me. Instead, he just went into the car. I got into the backseat and put my seatbelt on. He didn't say anything the entire car ride, making me panic.

Was he mad at me? Over a guy? Isn't he overreacting? Oh no, what if he's actually really mad? Did I piss him off? Shoot.

As soon as we reached the house, he got out and headed inside straight away. I took a deep breath before going in.

"Ay, what's wrong with him?" Daniel asked me. "He just went up to his room without saying anything."

"Well..." I trailed off.

"Did you piss him off?" He asked, smiling slightly.

"Perhaps?"

He cocked his head to a side, thinking. "Nah, I don't think he's that mad. There's times where he gets really mad, but right now it just looks like he's annoyed and pissed."

"Well, there goes my life then," I groaned, sighing.

"What happened?"

"If I told you, you would get mad," I said.

"What if I don't?" He challenged.

I narrowed my eyes. "Yes you would."

"Tell me."

"I met my first kiss today," I blurted.

"Who? That, what's his name, Miles or Max or something?"

"That's Matthew. But he wasn't my first kiss," I said.

His eyes widened and he mimicked in a high pitch, really stupid voice, "Ooh, spill the tea sis!"

I stared at him.

He stared at me.

Then he threw his phone across the room. "The girls are getting to me. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck!"

"Did I seriously just say that?" He asked, gripping his hair. "Oh my fucking god. What in the world is wrong with me? Everybody in my school keeps saying that."

I kept staring. "U-uh... my first kiss turns out to be this Taylor guy."

"So another guy kissed you?" He asked.

"Maybe?"

I couldn't tell if he was mad or not.

Then he smiled. "I mean, you're growing up. You better not kiss anyone ever again, but this I'll let it slide. Seeing you managed to piss Ethan off, me getting mad at you won't make you feel better."

I thought I was going to cry. I ran to him and hugged him tightly. "Thank you. I love you."

He patted my back. "Yeah, yeah. Hey, wanna cook with me? I got a cooking book from my friend. And he told me it's really fun cooking. I kinda wanna try."

I smiled, looking at him. "Woah, are you finally doing something with your life?"

He punched my shoulder lightly, laughing. "Shut up! I'm looking for hobbies. I should try singing sometimes."

"Speaking of singing..." I trailed off again.

Mia.

We were supposed to have the project meeting yesterday. Mia didn't come so I didn't have the chance to ask her but it was also the day Ethan and Brandon first met with Taylor and — oh my god.

Deep breath. It's okay. It's okay.

I'll go ask them tomorrow.

"I'm glad it's Friday," Daniel said, smiling. "Tomorrow is Saturday!"

Well, there goes my plan.

I can't even text them. Ethan took my phone. That's just great.

Daniel got up and went to the kitchen, ready to make something. He stared at the cooking book. "What the fuck is a potato pusher?"

I laughed while going upstairs. I stared at Ethan's room before going into mine. I jumped onto my bed, sighing. Now I have nothing to do.

I got back up and went over to my bookcase, taking out a random book.

The Heart Of The Twister

Since when did I have this book?

I grabbed it and sat back down on my bed, flipping the book open. I started reading the first chapter, and by the end of the first page, I was hooked.

And then it made me sad all of a sudden.

How I stopped reading books. I've been feeling way too overwhelmed, I never got the chance to do things I love.

I kept reading, remembering the feelings and the journey of emotions books always give. Already, i was smiling, reading about the main character.

Time passed.

Then I was on the verge of tears, my heart aching so badly for them. It felt like I was actually the main character, standing in their own shoes and experiencing everything.

"Evanna! Guess who's here?!" I heard Daniel shout from downstairs.

I put the book down immediately and ran downstairs, Jayden waiting on the couch.

My eyes widened and so did my smile. I tackled him in a huge hug and held him tightly. "Oh my god, I missed you so much!"

He hugged me way too tight, so hard I couldn't breathe. He missed me that much. Aw. When we pulled away, both of us had the biggest smile on our faces.

"I have news!" He exclaimed.

"Me too!" I said, smiling nervously.

"Go first."

"No, you go first."

"Has anybody seen the spatula?" Daniel shouted from the kitchen.

"It's up your ass!" Alex shouted back.

They were both arguing in the kitchen.

"Okay, so I finally got over Matthew kissing you. It's been long but I've always still was angry because he kissed my twin sister and I don't want anybody doing that anymore but now I think I'm finally over it," he said, a grin on his face.

"Oh!" I said, a really awkward smile on my face. "That's... great!"

"Okay, what's your news?" He asked, cheerfully.

"Do... do you know Taylor?" I asked, still smiling really nervously.

"Who?" He asked. "No, I don't know him."

"You sure?"

"Yeah... why?"

"Taylor. You don't know him, right?" I made sure.

"Wait actually, the name sounds familiar..." he thought for a moment.

"No it doesn't!" I interrupted. "So anyways—"

"Taylor... Taylor... I swear I've heard that name before..." He muttered. "Taylor... Taylor... friend? Long ago.... Wait!"

My eyes widened. "Yeah?"

"Taylor!" He exclaimed. "Wasn't He our best friend when we were little? The guy that always hung out with us! The guy that—"

Then he froze. His eyes turned from happy to shock to anger. "The guy that kissed you."

"Why do people keep kissing you?" Jayden shouted angrily. "Tell then to back off! Don't let them touch you!"

"Anyways, that Taylor guy goes to my school," I quickly rambled. "Yeah, good day. Goodbye."

As I walked away, he grabbed my arm and turned me around. He stared at me. "He what? He goes to your school?"

"And maybe we may have talked and hugged and you know, best friend reunion and stuff," I blurted.

"Is he asking for a death wish?" Jayden growled. "Oh man, I forgot how heated I got after I found out. Weren't we like 11 or 12? You guys kept that secret for 3 or 4 years!"

Oh shoot.

"And when I found out I got really angry, didn't I?" He asked. "Because i was so protective of you! And when I found out my best friend—"

"What the hell is going on," Jayden slowly stopped. "So... basically... you're telling me that Matthew wasn't your first kiss, and now there's another guy."

"Yes," I said. "Don't be mad. Please don't be mad."

"How can I not be mad?" He asked. "I have to people that kissed you! Kissed my twin sister! I'm not letting any other boy touch you. You stay away from everybody."

I stared at him for a moment until I realized something was really off. "You got taller. You're like... really tall."

"Oh," he shrugged. "I grew. A lot. I'm like 5'7 now. Kinda happy with that."

I bit my lip, pouting. "I'm still 5'3... I barely grew!"

He wrapped an arm around me. "Okay, let's sort this stupid guy stuff out later."

"Oh shit! It's burning! Ah fuck! Shit!" Daniel shouted.

"I told you you'd burn down the house one day!" Alex shouted back again.

Andrew came from downstairs. "Why does it smell like something's burning?"

"It's because I'm here. I'm way too hot for all of you," Brandon said, smirking. He was following Andrew down.

"Where's Ethan?" Andrew asked.

"Oh, the dramatic princess is still in her room," Brandon said. "Probably crying over some stupid shit."

"He seems... angry," Andrew said. Then he turned to me. "What did you do?"

"Nothing!" I quickly defended. "I just a accidentally found out my first kiss wasn't Matthew and it's another guy from my school who turned out to be my best friend and Ethan found us hugging and talking and he got mad because it was the second time and then I made him mad apparently and then—"

"Hey, Hey," Andrew soothed. "Calm down. Don't rush."

I took a deep breath. "Im sorry. Don't be mad at me."

"So you kissed him?" Brandon asked, his eyebrows raised. "Damn, didn't know you swung that way."

"We were eight," I told them. "And he kissed me—"

"Okay, where is that fucker then?" Brandon interrupted. "That Taylor guy, right? Should've punched his face when I had the chance."

"That bastard," Andrew muttered. "First Matthew, now him. We really have to keep you away from boys."

"If you kiss more boys, you're going to get poisoned," Alex said. "Even if it's not true, just believe that."

"Oh fuck!" Daniel screeched from the kitchen, making us all stop and turn to face him.

"I touched the fucking pan!" He shouted, running his fingers through the cold water.

Andrew stared at him. "Isn't our family considered the smartest kids in school? What kind of idiot touches a burning pan?"

"I do apparently!" Daniel groaned, getting some ice. "What do I do?"

"Why is it so loud down here?" Ethan grumbled, walking down.

"The princess is finally out of her room!" Brandon exclaimed, trying to piss him off.

Ethan rolled his eyes. "Do you really want to start this right now?"

But even Brandon knew not to push him farther. Brandon just shrugged and walked to the kitchen to make fun of Daniel's cooking.

"Uh, Ethan?" I quietly walked up to him. "Um, hey... I'm sorry... I didn't mean to make you mad. Sorry for getting angry..."

Shoot. Frick. I wanted to run and hide. I can't do apologies. I'm literally getting second hand embarrassment from watching me apologize. How was that possible? Who knows. This made me feel so awkward and I really wanted to scream.

"It's okay," he said, a small smile. "I'm sorry too. I was just way too stressed. I didn't mean to get mad either."

"Aw, cute sibling bonding, blah blah blah," Alex said. "Go look at Daniel's cooking."

I went to the kitchen and saw burnt potato scattered on the pan. "Wow... wow."

"Delicious," Ethan said sarcastically. "It's perfect."

Daniel stared at the food. "I was a little off, I guess."

"Just thank god you didn't set the house on fire," Ethan said.

"Watch him do that next time," Brandon said.

"I swear, if you actually do—" Ethan warned.

"Hey, I'm not that dumb," Daniel argued. "That's Brandon's level. I would never—"

Brandon grabbed him in a headlock, shoving him around. "If I were you, I'd shut that mouth."

"Hey, Ethan," I said. "Can I have my phone back please? I have a group project I need to work on and I need to text them."

Ethan grabbed my phone from his pocket. "Who are you working with?"

"Mia and..." Shoot. Think. Think. Think. "Eunice."

I was definitely going to get in more trouble if I told them I was doing it with Taylor. "Eunice and Mia are in my group."

He handed it to me. "Where are you going?"

"Library probably," I answered.

"Do you need a ride?"

"Yes please," I said with a smile.

"What time do you have to go?"

"Uh, I don't know. I'll ask them."

I unlocked my phone and went to messages. Mia already sent a message asking what happened to me.

Me: sorry, when are we meeting up?

Taylor: hey, you okay?

Me: yeah, don't worry.

Mia: let's meet up at the library at 6:30. does that sound okay?

Taylor: yea.

Then I got a message from Taylor.

Taylor: are you sure you're okay?

Me: really, im okay.

Taylor: im sorry for getting you in trouble.

Me: no, they were just overreacting. it's not your fault.

Taylor: but why'd they let you come to the group project?

Me: maybe i lied... if i get caught im probably dead. idk what to do and i freaked out so i said it was two girls working with me.

Taylor: oh. if you get caught what will you do?

Me: idk but they're actually going to kill me.

"What's taking so long?" Ethan asked me while throwing the burnt potato at Daniel.

"Uh, they're not answering," I lied. "Oh. Nevermind. They said we're meeting at 6:30."

"So in half an hour," Ethan said. "Okay."

So I just lied to them. I lied about Taylor. But they wouldn't let me work on a group project with him. I just have to make sure I don't get caught.

"Hey, whatcha looking at?" Brandon asked Alex, snatching his phone from his hand.

"Hey!" Alex protested.

Brandon lifted it out of Alex's reach which was saying a lot because they were both tall. "Woah, you and Cathy and dating now? Since when?"

All of my brothers turned to him with a shocked face.

"Damn, I never knew he would get a girlfriend," Andrew joked, nudging his twin brother.

"Shut up," Alex muttered.

"Did you kiss her?" Daniel asked.

"Maybe."

They all exploded into laughters and cheers, some supporting him and some making fun of him.

I stared at my phone, zoning off. I was just thinking about everything and I started getting a little too overwhelmed.

"You okay?" Ethan asked, shaking my shoulder lightly.

I looked up and nodded, snapping out of my thoughts. "Yeah. I'm gonna get ready now."

***

Hey guys! I'm so sorry for the late upload. I didn't have my phone for a week because I had to go on a trip and I didn't get to upload this chapter I wrote.

But I hope you guys liked this chapter!

The next chapter will be uploaded a lot quicker so don't worry.

I don't really have much to say. Except one more thing.

I don't know what you guys want. There are different plots I want to go with in the book because I don't have everything planned out.

You guys really don't want to see her depressed or going through anything anymore while others keep saying to bring her old self back for a little bit.

I personally like writing the sadder scenes because there's a lot more to it but you guys don't seem to want them.

What do you think?

Anyways, thanks for staying patient. I love you guys!
