Lily's pov
I was running but not from socs, me and ponyboy were walking then we started racing. I was in front and when I looked behind me to see if he was still there when I bumped into someone.
Jack.
I fell on top of him my hair everywhere falling on the sides of my face. I giggled a bit he was smiling. "Hey Lily" his voice squeaked, I couldn't tell if it was from the fall or what. But I laughed.
Ponyboy came around he didn't look happy at the sight of me on top of Jack so I got up. Jack got up as well. "Hey Lil who this?" pony asked putting an arm around me; tightly. "A friend, Jack" I answered "hey man" Jack said putting his out for a hand shake.
Ponyboy didn't shake his hand, I wasn't happy he didn't. "Anyways, Jack this is my boyfriend ponyboy" I said. "Oh umm I gotta go. See ya around Lily... Ponyboy" he walked away his fits in his pockets. It was like he was upset.
"So that Jack guy is he like what?" Ponyboy asked as we started walking. "Like what?" I eyed him cooly "like is he" he sighed "just I don't know".
"I swear if you think I'm gonna cheat on you with him or something well you can forget it" I crossed my arms. How dare he think I would cheat on him. Would I? No! No, maybe-no!
"No!" he said londly "sorry" he added seeing that he kind of yelled in my ear. "Yeah well anyways me and him are just friends and he thinks the same think. I'm sure of it" I told him.
Jack's POV (I think we all saw this coming. If you didn't then...wow!)
I kicked the dirt. Why she got be dating someone else?! Why couldn't I've asked her be my girl first! Why am I yelling at myself, knowing the answer. She just likes me as a friend nothing more, nothing less. I just wish she thought more of me then just a friend.
I sighed. I saw Curly, maybe he could help me. He some what of a friend of Lily's and he dated her before. He gotta know something, he can't not know.
Wait, what? Oh never mind. I walked up to him. I wasn't really sure what I was going to ask him so let's see where this goes. Here goes nothing.
"Hey Curly"
"Oh uh hey Jack"
"Hey I, uh, need ask you something about Lily" I said rubbing the back of my neck. "Lily? Lily Cade?" he asked "uh yeah" I wasn't all that sure on her last name. "Just to be clear your talking about a girl with tan skin, jet black hair, and as an older brother. Dating Ponyboy" he said. I nodded my head.
"Well what ya need to know?" he asked a small grin on his face. "I need know if there any good chance she gonna break up with this Ponyboy guy?" I asked.
"Let's see, she broke up with him about, what? two-three times now. I say they might break up again then get back together. That is if you get to her first if and when that happens" he said.
"So your saying I might have a chance with her?" I really, really hope I would have a good enough chance with her.
"Look I'm gonna say this now" he started "I don't want date her at least not anymore, I have my reasons why that we won't get into. Anyways, I'm not a fan of that Ponyboy dating her, and I think your both better together" he said putting a hand on my shoulder.
"So you think that I'm better with Lily then she is with that other guy" I felt over joyed if I was. "Yep and I'm gonna help you hook up with Lily" he said with an evil smirk.
"So what like a wing man?"
"Sure I got some free time. Why not? I'm gonna be your wing man" he shrugged. "Cool" I smiled to myself "just don't go around telling people" he added, "right got it" we started talking.

Lily's POV
After me and pony went to his house I felt like there was nothing for me to do, cause there wasn't. "You alive?" Johnny asked me kicking my side a bit, I was lying on the floor with my eyes closed breathing lightly. "No" I answered.
I got up. "I think I'm going for another walk" I sighed "you just came back from one like 5 minutes ago" Bella said pulling away from talking to Sodapop.
"Yeah well there nothing to do plus I think I lost my hair pin thingy when I fell" I rubbed my head to find it really was gone. It was a little flower clip.
"Need help looking for it?" pony asked "naw should be quick" I said. I left I walked everywhere I went today. I saw Jack again where I bumped into him, a bit wired. He was holding something.
I walked over to him, he had my clip. "Hey Jack, nice see ya again" I smiled joyfully at him, "oh hey Lily, is this clip your's by any chance?" he asked, smiling. "Yeah thanks for finding it" I said a bit over joyed. What? I like the clip, a lot. Plus it's like my only one.
"Here let me put it on" he got into my hair just right. "Thanks" I put some hair behind my ear. "It was nothing. Hey if you don't mind want go back to that place, with the flowers from the other day? if you have the time" he asked. "Sure. Guess I'll just go around a time or two just to waste my time with you" I smiled at him, he did so back.
We talked, a lot. It was wired I could tell him anything, we liked the somethings and we both loved books, movies, and music, plus we both can play a little. He was like Ponyboy but he had this way of making me feel I don't know special. I really liked the feeling. He made me feel important.
"So which do you like better Evils or the Beatles?" he asked. We played a game to get to know each other faster. He would ask something I answer then I ask him, so on and so fourth.
"Umm that's hard I mean Evils yeah he the king of rock an roll, but the Beatles have their songs and moments" I giggled. "Same, like Evils with 'Can't help but love you' or the Beatles with 'Help'. Both good songs you just can't pick one" he said laughing as well.
"Thank you someone who gets it!" no one really gets why I like both, he as to be the first one. Not even Johnny gets it and that's saying something. "Okay now you ask me something" he said.
I thought then a light bulb went off in my head to what to ask. "Do you like anyone?" I grinned asking him, "yeah there this one girl I like but I'm sure she just thinks of me as just a friend" he rubbed the back of his neck.
I thought about what he said, soaking it in when it hit me. I sighed smiling "the age old story of the boy liking a girl but she doesn't know, classic" I said. "Yeah well it's not like I'm scared to ask her out its just she dating someone else. And I'm not the kind of guy to steal another man girl" he sighed.
"Aw your such a good person" I said he just laughed a bit. "Oh I almost forgot I was here awhile after I dropped you off at your house I found these kind of rare type of lily" he said getting up.
I followed him he showed me beautiful Lilies (as seen in the picture). "Wow it's so... beautiful" I gasped smiling. "I knew you like it. It's as pretty as you" he smiled I realize he called me pretty.
"Your sweet, Ponyboy doesn't really call be pretty, funny, smart, and cute as much as you do" I sighed.
"Aww I'm sorry he doesn't sounded like a every good boyfriend" he said "no, no, he a good boyfriend I mean he cares about me must guys don't really" I now felt depressed. "Well I care about you" he put an arm around me I rested my head on his shoulder "your the first to say it and mean it without dating me".
We stayed like that for awhile. Soon we left to get ready for buck's, got go work.
~~~Later at Buck's~~~
I was at Buck's for a party, the gang was here too. When I got backstage I saw Jack, I walked over to him. "Uh hey Jack what ya doing here?" I asked him. "Oh I'm the new drummer for Buck's band. I'll be playing with you" I felt really happy he was the new drummer. I didn't even know he could play, then again I didn't he could sing.
"That's great" I smiled "hey mind if we do Dirty little secrets?" he asked. "Sure sounds fun. Come let's go" we started.
"Hello my friends!" I yelled, they cheered the music started.

I was looking at Jack in the cover of my eye he kept smiling at me. We went to the party. "Hey Lil you did really good" pony said to me "thanks I try" I shrugged smiling. I been smiling a lot more ever since Jack started showing up around me more. Wired...
After awhile of hang out the guys took Ponyboy away so I was left alone. I would see Ponyboy and it was like he wasn't even trying to get back to me, I mean it's fine if he wants hang out with his friends but still I'm all alone.
I walked around a bit I tripped, I think Curly did it on purpose. I fell on into the arms of Jack, he smiled. When I look back Curly smirked and walked off like he planned this, I'm sure that's not it tho. "Hey there" Jack spoke.
"Hey, thanks for catching me" I said he let go and I stand up straight. "No problem" he seem to look around a bit, "if your looking for my boyfriend he with his friends somewhere around here" I sighed pouting. "Oh good it's kind of wired when he around. I don't think he really likes me" he said.
"Yeah no he, he doesn't like you" I said awkwardly, "it's kind of loud want go outside?" he asked. It was very loud.
"Okay" we walked outside in the backyard. We sat in the grass "so how it going with you and what's his name?" Jack asked "you mean ponyboy?" I playfully pushed him. "Yeah him" he half smiled into the dark night sky.
"It's fine I guess, I think we're drifting" I shrugged looking in the darkness. I could feel him looking at me now. "Drifting? like apart?" he asked almost like he was happy. I nodded a bit, slowly. Like I wasn't sure to answer.
"Well don't worry if you fall I'll catch you no matter what" he cupped my face turning my head to look at him. Our faces only inches apart, I couldn't look away from those beautiful hazel eyes.
"What the hell are you doing with my girl?!" Pony's voice got us to look away. I got up quickly "Ponyboy it's not what you think" I told him, Jack got up. "It looks like you were going to kiss this guy" he seem drunk, but why? how?
"No I wasn't" I said "look man nothing was happening we were just talking, alright" Jack pipped in. "How about you shut it, little drummer boy!" pony yelled at him "don't yell at him! he didn't do anything!" I yelled back.
"Don't yell at me!" he shouted "Ponyboy just calm down you seem drunk. You don't want do something dumb when your like this, or at all" Jack said cooly. "Don't tell me what to do! I ain't drunk!" he yelled, "please Ponyboy just stop while you still can" I said my voice cracked and shaked.
"I'm done!" he said "what?" I asked my voice dropped to a whisper. "I'm just done with you I can't take being hold down with you!" he put his arms up. "Your breaking up with me just for talking to my friend? Ugh! You jerk! You know what? I don't care break up with me! Screw you Ponyboy Michael Curtis!" I cried. I'm not forgiving him.
I ran into the darkness crying, I could hear the light calls of Jack shouting my name. I just kept running, to that little spot I hang out with Jack looking at the flower Jack showed me. I loved it.
Jack's pov
"What the hell man?!" I pushed Ponyboy he stumbled back a bit. "I couldn't take it anymore she such a-a-" I cut him off. "What? She beautiful without any makeup on, she smart as can be, she funny even when she says the punchline wrong, she-she perfect" I had started at a yelling tone but dropped around the ending.
"That's it" he jumped me. We started fighting everyone came to see, soon Curly and his brother pulled me out of it and Ponyboy some guys, and girls.
"Your dumb ass man, for breaking up with her!" I yelled at him as Curly pulled me away. I could see the girls punched him in arms and walking away the boys going after them.
Ponyboy. He just stood there soaking in everything that just happened... At least that's what it looked like. Curly grinned at me, I was puzzled. "Your welcome" he said "for what?" I asked. "I tripped Cade into you then I got Curtis drunk so he'd yell at Cade. Now she all yours" he patted me on the back.
I looked at him in shocked.
"That's not what I wanted. I told you I didn't want pull them apart, I wanted it happen-" he cut me off. "Look if we did it your way then it would of token forever, plus think about it this way" he evilly grinned putting an arm around me guiding me somewhere.
"You'll be her Hero, helping her in her time of need" he explained, "yeah but isn't that, I don't know, taking advantage of her?" I asked. "Gosh your such a dork, you'll be perfect for Cade!" he smiled, I sighed "fine, but I'm giving it a week to show I'm not taking advantage of her. And I want you to try and stop Ponyboy from getting her back if he even try's too" I said.
"Deal. See ya man" we shook hands and he went off. "What did I get myself into?" I asked myself sighing shaking my head a bit walking to where I felt like I might Lily. Maybe at 'our spot'.
I was right when I got there she was crying next to the flower I showed her. I slowly, carefully, and quietly walked to her. I stepped on a brunch making a loud creaking noise, she turned around quickly whipping her tears away.
"It's okay it's just me" I said to her softly. It was almost like she a small, helpless, scared, wild animal. "J-just go away" she said going into another fit of tears. Falling to her knees, her face in her hands. She was crying so much.
I ran over to her side putting an arm around her, comforting her. I calmed her down, she stopped crying, I told her sweet things making her laugh and smile. She looked so beautiful in the moonlight. I couldn't stop looking into her beautiful dark brown eyes.
Ponyboy's POV
I woke up my head hurting like hell. I look around to see I'm at home? How I get here? The last thing I remember is seeing Curly and how he kept giving some kind of drink. Then yelling and fighting but with who? Why? Where?
"About time your up" a voice said; Sodapop. "What happen?" I asked trying get up but fell back down in pain. "Just stay down. I'll tell ya what happen" he said. It looked like we were in our room. What time is it?
"First how much do you remember?" he asked. "You guys taking me away from lil to hang out a bit then Curly coming. He kept giving me cups filled with some wired drink. I didn't like it but I couldn't stop drinking it" I said.
"Well it was some kind of hard Rum. At least that's what the girls and some of the guys say. Whatever it was got you drunk. Real bad" he explained. "Oh man Lily! Is she okay?" I asked, worried. "Not sure. No one is, from what we could find out you yelled at her and break up with her. Some said she ran somewhere crying" Glory!
"We haven't seen her. No can find her, well at least the ones that do know won't tell us where" he added. "Oh man, she must hate me" I said letting myself fall back on the bed.
"And the girls?" I asked. "They went out to go break some things. If I was you I'd stay away from them. They might end up in the cooler, might not" he got up. "Look Ponyboy I know you didn't mean for that happen, but it did and this time you might not get luckily. So just try to" he signed "just don't get to mad or sad or whatever if you can't win her back" he walked to the door.
~~~Next Day - At School~~~
I looked around for Lily. I found her and ran up to her. "Lily, hey Lily" I called out to her sh just turned her back to me. "Uh Lily?" I asked her she just turned her back to me.
"Lily?" I asked again; worried. "Just leave me alone" she said in a firm voice. "Lily if I did something last night I'm sorry" I told her turning her to face me. She looked mad but her eyes looked sad. Like she was going to cry. What did I say to her?! I'm dead, or am I?
"Ponyboy leave me alone. I don't want talk to you" she said "I'm sorry if I was a jerk to you" I apologized. "Ponyboy I don't think you really know what happen last night" she said. "Then tell me, I need know why your mad at me so I fix it" I took her hands.
"You broke up with me" she pulled her hands back, her voice breaking. I froze looking at her in disbelief. "Lily I'm sorry I didn't mean to" I looked her in the eyes; her eyes watering. "I can't keep doing this Ponyboy. Is breaking up getting back together not again" she looked like she would cry then and there. I stepped closer to her.
She stepped back like a scared animal. That Jack guy came over to her, putting her in a side hug and not letting go. "Hey Jack" she said un joyfully, I didn't like Jack not one bit. "Wait what happen?" I was lost "you yelled at me and Jack just because we were talking outside. You really hurt me" she cried.
That's when it hit me. I remembered what happen. "This-this is his fault" I pointed to Jack "he didn't do anything your just jealous of any guy I talk to like Jack" she was upset; and getting worse. "Look man I didn't try anything with her I wouldn't but you should just stay away from Lily before her hurt her again" he said pulling her closer to him.
"I ain't gonna listen to you I can be around her if I want to" I said in a firm voice, I was upset with him. "Ponyboy he right just-just stay away from me" she hugged Jack. "Fine!" I walked off.
What did I just do?
Lily's pov
He walked off. I hind my face in Jack's shoulder "I can't believe him" I mumbled into his shoulder. "Just forget about him you still got me" I could feel him smiling at me. I looked up at him I was right he was smiling.
"Come let's go to class" we walked to class together. At music we had to pick someone in the school and pick a song to show how you feel about them. It was hard to pick anyone so I thought I could ask Jack and the gang who they picked see if I could figure something out. Me and Jack walked home together. I saw Ponyboy in the cover of my eye. I wanted to see if I could make him jealous, I pulled on Jack's arm.
"Yeah Lily?" he asked "want help me make Ponyboy jealous?" I asked him. He cooly eyed behind him in the cover he saw Ponyboy. He looked at me I gave him a puppy dog face he smiled. "Okay fine" he gave in "I got an idea" I smirked evilly. This drive him crazy.
I put my hand in the back of Jack's pants he followed. I saw Ponyboy walking faster; I smirked. "How your acting?" I asked he looked at me lost. "What?" he asked "just follow my lead" he nodded. I pushed him to the wall.
"Uh Lily what ya doin'?" he asked seeing that Ponyboy is basically running to us now. "Shh just wait for it" I smiled I kissed his check, when I was about to kiss his lips a hand pulled me away from him. I knew it was pony.
"What the hell are you doing?" pony asked "like you care" I couldn't stand Ponyboy right now. "I care cause-" I cut him off "cause what? Cause you can't stand seeing me with a friend that's a guy" I almost yelled "just a friend my ass" pony said in the same angry tone.
"Do I get a say in this?" Jack asked pipping in "stay out of this!" pony yelled at him. I pushed pony "don't yell at him!" I told him. Jack pulled me back a bit "Lily just leave him, he's not worth the effort" he told me.
"That's it" Ponyboy punched him in the face. Jack stumbled back a bit he touched his lip; blood. His lip was bleeding I gasped, Ponyboy looked at his fit it had some of Jack's blood on it.
"Oh dare you" I said to pony "oh Jack" I touched his lip. "Does it hurt?" I asked him then glared at pony boy. "Come on I'll make it better" I pulled him away from Ponyboy. "I'm sorry about him" I said "it's fine I mean I get why he so mad" Jack touched his lip again. It didn't stop bleeding just a bit.
"Here let me help you" I pulled a handkerchief out of my pocket bring it to his lip. He touched mine "I didn't know you had stitches" he said racing them with his thumb. I touched them "I forgot myself I'm surprised you didn't notice earlier" I said looking at him.
"I guess since your so beautiful I couldn't see anything like this unless I was close enough" he cupped my face. I pushed him away "I'm sorry I just I-I gotta go" I ran off. Why is life so hard?!
Pony's POV
Why is life so hard?! Ugh! Why I had to punch Jack in front of Lily, why not in an ally or something?! She hates me, but she right I hurt her to much without trying. Maybe it would be better if we were apart, then maybe she'll see she's needs me more then she thought and come running back to me.
Jack's POV
Wow she so pretty. I really didn't see the stitches on her lip I'm always getting lost in her eyes. I looked at the handkerchief my lip started bleeding less. I went to find Lily she was crying under a tree. I ran to her.
"Hey Lily" I said softly "go away" she sniffled "I'm never gonna go away I'm always gonna be here for even if you don't want me to. I care about you, a lot" I told her. She wiped some tears away with her sleeve looking at me.
"You do?"
I sat next to her "yeah I do" I smiled looking at my lap. "Thanks your such a good friend" she hugged me. Dammit! I'm never gonna get out of the dumb 'friend zone'. "Yeah that's me just a good friend" I said dryly sighing.
"I gotta go. I'm sorry" I told her, I didn't I was gonna go find Curly to see if he knows anything about getting out of the friend zone with Lily. I know he knows at least one thing about it. "It's fine I should go find my older brother anyways" we got up. I playfully grinned at her "okay see ya" we walked away.
Lily's pov
I found Johnny in no time. "If you ask me it sounds like Curly planned it or something" Johnny shrugged after I told him what happen. I thought maybe he was right or was he? maybe he just didn't want turn on his friend or sister.
"Yeah well maybe it's because Ponyboy and me just wasn't might to be" I said "about time you learn that" he poked my forehead. "You know I have this friend named Jack he really nice for helping me out maybe I don't know he-" he cut me off.
"Don't you think you should wait a bit before you start dating again?"
I punched him "I ain't gonna date him" I told him. He glared at him like I was lying "I ain't!" I said again "I didn't say anything!" he laughed putting his hands up in defense making me laugh.
We were playing a video game now still talking about Jack and stuff.
"So what if he ever asked me on a date. It's just a date not a date" I said playing. "Guys not work like that Lil. He gonna fall in love with you" Johnny said. I won "ha!" I cheered "aw, what" Johnny said in defeat. "Okay come on man it's lunch" I said getting up.
"And since I won you gotta make it" I added smiling and laughing at him. "Ugh fine" he made us PB&J. He sure knows how make them. I guess it's from all those years of making them for me as kids cause we couldn't cook.
After that we hang out some more and later went to bed. I was to tried to even think about any boy problems I had.
A.N-hope you enjoyed! sorry it took like forever for this but I had two very good reasons why I didn't upset sooner. First, School is just f*cking hell! sorry to swear but it's just getting to that point and the other reason is YOU GUYS DON'T COMMENT OR VOTE! SO I FORGET I'M A WRITER! WRITING A STORY!
