As I walked back into the house I realized who it was that Carter invited to dinner and I abruptly stopped walking. Damon. Why him of all people Carter could befriend, it had to be him? Don’t act so annoyed and upset. We’ll live and if we don’t, we can always haunt his ass. We don’t die, dumbass. Plus he wouldn’t be able to kill us. He’s HUMAN. I’m not so sure about that. Yeah, right…
I shook my head and continued walking, knowing they, and he, was walking behind me. I sat in the spot next to Cameron, like before. The boys have stopped playing their game, and are all staring at
Damon. He stared back. Carter, completely oblivious to the tension or just ignoring it, ran over to the loveseat, me and Cam are sitting on, jumped, laid himself on top of our laps. I looked at Cam, she looked at me and we immediately pushed him off, crossing our legs in synchronization. Jaxon, whose attention was suddenly on us, laughed as Carter rubbed his head and ass. I rolled my eyes, which soon landed on Damon, who was watching me. I raised an eye brow, Ten growled. A small smile worked its way on my lips, Damon watched the movement, and Ten growled lower, more threatening. “Ten.” I said, my voice calm and steady. “Is there something you’d like to say?” His head snapped to me, and he shook his head vigorously. He likes us. Figures. I know, don’t all men do. We are too conceded. Self-confident. Why did you have to show up in my head again… Don’t answer that.
I could feel Jaxon drilling eye shaped holes in the side of my head. “Yes, brother?”
“Nothing.” He replied. Okay…
A few minutes passed in silence, and then the front door opened. Tiny feet pounded on the hardwood floor of the hallway that leads to the room we occupied. A tiny boy with dirty blonde hair and tan skin, rushed into my sitting form. “Mommy!” He yelled.
I sighed, burring my face into his neck as his arms wrapped around my neck. "Hey, baby." I whispered. He stopped squeezing my neck and got himself situated on my lap. "How was school, Niklaus?" I asked, running my hand through his long, dirty blonde hair.
His dark violet eyes looked at me through thick lashes. "It's not as fun as being home, mommy. I made friends, though. They're names are Claire and Jack." He smiles widely, showing that he is missing his two front teeth.
"And your teacher?" Jaxon asked, sitting on the arm of the loveseat.
I watched at Nik's smile vanished, and I wrapped my arm around his torso, bringing him closer to me. "Mrs. Mercy isn't nice, Uncle Jax. She doesn't like me, or any of the other kids but mostly me. She thinks I'm weird. I heard her-" I cut him off with a look, suddenly remembering that we weren't alone, with that came the realization that they were all staring in shock at my son and me. I wrinkled my nose, a signal that meant "smell the air" and Nik did just that. " I heard her say it, I think."
"Nice save, Nik. You are your fathers son." I smiled at him and he nodded, a small glimmer of hope in his eyes. I know what that means, I've always known he'd ask about him. I just don't know if this is too soon, or if I should just tell him... Tell him. He would never forgive us if we didn't and let's face facts, it's not like we can lie to him. The truth is what he wants and we've never lied to him before, nor him to us. I didn't know you were capable of caring for others, let alone our son. You know me, full of suprises. Oh and Maria better hurry, I can smell the spaghetti from her.
Seeing my irritation, Nik kissed my cheek, hugging me again. "It's okay, mommy. You don't have to talk about him." He whispered in my ear.
I chuckled lightly, "it's not that, my love. It's seems me and Angel agree on something, and I'm not sure whether thats a good thing or a bad thing." I whispered back. He nodded, untangled himself from me and got on his two small feet. Nik quickly went to the others introducing himself and talking animatedly about his day when Cameron asked.
Maria walked into the livingroom just as Niklaus finished telling the story of when he met Jaxon for the first time. That day, I have to say was amazing. Nik instantly knew who Jax was. Hugged him on sight and told Jax that he can't wait for the fun times they were going to have. That was about 10 to 12 years ago. Niklaus ages differently than any of us did. He's in the second grade and looks around 6 years old, but he's 15 years old. Nik still looks as if he has a long way to go before he looks 18, it took me and Jax fourty years but I think he'll have less because he's starting to age like a human.
I looked at Maria and she nodded. "Dinner's ready." I said loud enough that they all heard me. Nik quickly grabbed my hand and we led the others to the large dinning room. The table was setup with fine china and wine glasses. the middle of the table was adorned with a vase of red roses, five white candles lit and surrounding the roses. The table which was oval shaped, had a velvet like cloth over it.
Niklaus took his place at one end of the table and I, across from him. Where we sat was the two heads of the table. Jaxon took the seat on Nik's left, Cameron sat next to Jax. Next to me on my left sat Carter, and suprisingly on my right sat Damon, next to him sat Alek. Next to Carter sat Ten and across from Ten sat Zander.
Xavier walked in the room with a cart that contained the food, Maria came after them. Xavier took his seat next to Nik and looked around the table. When his eyes landed on the seat to my right, he narrowed his eyes in wonder, then looked at me. I shrugged in reply, and he nodded, dismissing the occurance. Once Maria served everyone, she sat down in the seat next to Cameron and served herself.
Damon looked bewildered by the action, and I knew why. I smirked, "is something wrong with your plate?" He looked at me and shook his head, mumbling something close to, "nope, nothing at all".
A minute or two passed and everyone at the table is wondering why, Nik, Jax, Xavier, Maria, Carter and I haven't started eating, but also why we're staring at a empty seat with a plate filled with food. That's when I heard the rushing of hair, and the smell of lavender petals. "Sorry, Mistress." Lily, Xavier's niece said as she started to pour everyone a glass of wine.
"When haven't I let you off the hook for being late?" I asked when she got to me.
She looked at me with a sly smile, "Um, never. Which I don't understand. You always let me off the hook, but never the old geaser." She replied, finishing pouring the wine into her glass.
"The old geaser is here all day, he has no proper reason for being late. You come here every night after your done with your classes at the community college." I look at Nik, seeing that he's about to take a sip of wine. "Niklaus, a sip after four bites." He sighed before nodding. "The reason you work here is to earn money and my letter of recommendation to get into a better college. You're excused."
Dismissing all future pretence of conversation with me, I began to eat. As I ate I could feel Damon staring at me. I completely ignored it, but I could help feeling as though he's looked at me like this before, besides today. When I don't know, but I hope to find out soon, I'm not sure how long I'd be able to be okay with a human around.
For a human, he is a great view. I say we enjoy his presence, if you know what I mean.
Pervert. I kinda liked it better when you didn't speak.
That's what he said.
I'm comtemplating sucide as of now!
You wouldn't dare.
You seem to forget that I am you, and you are me. I think we both know I would.
Shit!Shit!Shit!
