-New Donk Police Department-
The Department was busy. Of course it is. They were on the hunt for one of their best Officer.
As it was busy, it gave Y/n time to sneak around to the locker room and pick up some things from my locker.
Opening up, he found out that his uniform was gone and the rest of his belongings.
All except for one. A picture of him and Sophie at the Police Academy when they met for the first time.
It gave him an idea.
"You thinking what I'm thinking?"
"Hell yeah."
Walking out of the locker room with no one noticing that Sophie walked out.
Without being detected, he well, she made her way to security guard area.
A skinny male wearing glasses and a brown hair in a frohawk was playing a game on his phone. His name tag said Elmo.
"Sounds like a puppet's name."
Y/n: Excuse me?
Elmo: Oh Ms. Baskins. Wh-wha-what can I do for you?
Y/n: I was sent here by the Chief about getting a copy of the footage about last night's incident with Y/n.
Elmo: Oh okay. Let me just fix this up. Elmo said, typing on the keyboard.
After a few seconds, the two watch the tape footage. The former Officer was astonished on what happen when he was gone. He was fame for something he didn't do.
Elmo copy some of the footage in different location on a CD and gave to me.
Y/n: Thank you so much, Elmo.
Elmo: You're welcome, Ms. Baskins.
Um, I got a question?
Y/n: You just did, kid.
The Officer laughed. It seem like something Sophie would say in her jokely manner.
Y/n: Go ahead.
Elmo: Hehe. Do you think...Y/n really did this? It doesn't seem like him. An-and...if he...did...why would he? What have we done to him to do this?
(Con't) We honor him for his heroic deeds. Waylon loved his job, did charity work. For him to kill innocent people and officers...just bothers me.
Hearing the concern of Elmo's belief in innocence of Y/n. He is probably the only one who thinks that I wasn't the murder from last night.
Y/n: 'Maybe the real Baskins thinks I'm innocent. The Mayor? Nah, Pauline may join the public hysteria and want my head on a wooden spike.
(Con't) 'I should've went to jail...'
Nergal had a different thought.
"If you went to jail, you would've suffer the same fate like the bank robbers."
Y/n: Elmo...I believe he's innocent. We live in a world that we seen turtle-dragon creatures invade here. I heard that it took every officer here to stop him from battling Bowser.
Y/n laughed as he remember he wanted to take on that reptilian bastard if The Chief didn't threat of kicking me off the force.
"We would've taken him on."
Y/n: Y/n would do some much for New Donk. I was even surprised about the news and heard what happen to Diego. I...believe his innocent. He will receive hate for what he's done until proven innocent.
Y/n: But I hope he's innocent...
The Security Camera Guard smile at me, satisfied at my long answer to his question.
Elmo: I hope he is too.
With a glance at the camera screen and my smile went away quick. The real Baskins return, walking along with The Chief.
Y/n: Thank you so much, Elmo. Thanks alot.
The Guard's cheeks burn red.
Elmo: It's nothing.
The Officer left the room and when he was in a room with no cameras recording me, I change back into the construction man.
The Fugitive went over to the desk of Baskins. Across the other side that was his desk was empty, most likely taken as evidence.
He put the cd in a drawer and walked off.
Exiting out the building, a sigh seep out as Y/n sat down on the steps, laying his head on his arms that rested on his knees.
"Y/n, why are feeling...sad?"
Y/n: You're me. You should know.
"Like I said before, being in jail wouldn't help. Those robbers that called you an halfbreed. They were Nergalings."
Y/n: How could you tell?
"They knew who we are. Some Nergalings can look into other Nergalings that are in disguise. I can't without studying into it. But it's like... interrogating a criminal and seeing if they're lying.
"Humans don't know about Nergalings. So those four people acting weird around you and again, calling you halfbreed means they knew about us.
"What you saw was the group relaying a message. Why didn't they rob the bank? Why did they just need you to talk to when Baskins and The Chief? They ha-"
Nergal stop talking, causing the human to be concern. Either he just knew the answer or something else. Y/n hope its the former than the latter.
"Start walking."
"Uh, why?"
"We're being watched."
Getting up off the steps and the Officer started walking on the sidewalk with the other citizens.
As the sky was transitioning from evening to night, there were dark clouds covering the beauty of the moon and rain start to pour down on the city.
Putting the hood of his sweatshirt up, Y/n was looking around to see who was watching me. Trying to turn his head, he felt his neck tighten up so he couldn't turn it.
"Don't be suspicious!"
Y/n: Can you stop taking over my body? It's annoying.
"If you stop being an suspicious little bug, I will."
In front of him was two bipedal animal wearing clothes.
One was a fox wearing a white and grey jacket with green pants and white boots with red on the front.
The other was a blue feathered bird wear the similar jacket but it was grey and light blue. It's pants was different from his partner/comrade as it was red and the boots were white and grey around the toes.
???: We've found you, monster.
Y/n's face cringe at the word monster.
Y/n: 'I'm guess Nergal didn't like being called names.'
Turning behind to see who said that sentence, two men stood there like the two animals, holding an axe and bottle fill of liquid.
There were more people who surrounded me. One in bulky orange armor with a cannon for a right arm.
By their side were the two legendary heroes that everyone knew in the city and all over the Nintendoverse. Mario and Luigi.
The Fugitive raised his hands up, giving the seven people an awkward smile.
Y/n: Uh oh.
Uh oh was right.
