Chapter 45: Happy Birthday

"Happy Birthday!"

My eyes flew open. My mum, dad, brother and sister were all standing over my bed, with large grins consuming their faces.

As I slowly sat up from my bed, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes, I noticed that each of them were still sporting their pyjamas. "Morning." I said, my voice still hoarse from sleep.

"Morning Alice." Lily said, jumping on my bed. She came and sat next to me, sticking her legs under the covers. I let out a giggle. She was such a kid.

Josh came to the other side of my bed. He leaned down and gave me a hug. "Happy Birthday sis!" I smiled.

"Thanks Josh." He was still in pyjamas. I could tell that he had just woken up too.

My parents were wearing smiles that covered half their faces. They both cheered and gave me   hugs. My mum's was giddy, while my dad kissed my cheek. "Thanks guys!"

"Hey, don't thank us just yet." My mum said pointedly. The four of them got up from my bed and started heading out of my room. Seeing as none of them said anything more, I got out of bed and followed them down the stairs.

They were eerily quiet as we descended, and I couldn't keep the smile off of my face. What were they planning? They continued into the dinning room, I was getting excited.

When I walked inside, I was speechless. They had laid out a feast, rich in crepes and colourful fruit.

"Wow." My grin could not express how happy I was. We all took a seat, me sitting at the head of the table for a change. "Thank you so much! This is amazing!" I genuinely smiled. My parents gushed, while Lily and Josh looked just as excited to dig in as I was.

"Okay, let's dig in." My dad announced. That was all it took for me to dive for the waffles.

After the delicious breakfast, my mum had popped upstairs to grab my presents. In that time I checked my phone. I had gotten 31 text messages wishing me happy birthday. Most were just people I knew in my year that I had given my number to.

I only really recognised the angels congratulations of becoming legal and Shay's, Sami's, Luke's, Lewis' and Claudia's messages.

By the time I had thanked them for their texts, my mum had come back down with a handful of neatly wrapped boxes, a particular blue one caught my eye.

I couldn't contain the squeal that escaped my lips. This only caused my dad and brother to giggle. "You're such a girl." My face turned from the tower of wrapping paper, to Josh. I gave him a flat look, was he serious?

"Anyway." My mum voiced. "Which one do you want to start with?"

I turned to my mum again. "You pick." My dad grinned and got up from his seat, to hand me a red one that was in the shape of a small cube.

"Now you've gotta guess." I rolled my eyes at him. I was always horrible at guessing. Even if it was as simple as a tennis ball, I would get it wrong.

I sighed. "Fine." I dropped my shoulders and concentrated on the red cube. What could it be? It was hard, so it had to be thing inside the box. Now that narrows it down to almost anything. "Is it." I started, shaking it again. "perfume?"

He shrugged. I looked at my brother who had a blank expression. Yeah, like the actor would give anything away.

I unwrapped the box, to find the the name Michael Kors plastered on the front. I opened the box to find a beautiful silver watch, the rim encrusted with small diamonds. "Wow." I said, my voice stunned. "It's beautiful." I looked up from the watch and got up from my seat to give my dad a hug. "Thank you."

My dad squeezed me back. "I'm so glad you liked it!" He let me go and I went back to my seat. What was next?

"My turn." Lily yelped. I couldn't help but smile at her. She was so cute.

"Okay." My mum agreed. Lily went to the stack of gifts and grabbed a small rectangle with stripped wrapping paper. She handed it to me with a grin on her face.

I took the box from her hand. Really another box? Do they just enjoy watching me struggle? Okay, focus. I shook the box and there was some movement. There was no texture. "Um...is it a wallet?" Lily was grinning wide, great, if she wasn't upset that meant I was wrong.

Not bothering trying to think of what it could be, I unwrapped it. It was a sleek black box, now for what was in side. I opened the lid, to find a stunning pair of sunglasses. Prada to be exact. "Aw Lil, thank you." She came over to me and gave me a hug. My mum was staring at us lovingly. Lily released me and went to take a seat.

"Well I guess it's my turn." Josh stated, standing. As he went over to the remaining boxes, he grabbed the larger of the two. "Now." He said, approaching me. "Don't get you're hopes up to high." I playfully glared at him as he handed me his present.

The second I held it, I noticed the significant weight difference compared to the previous gifts. When I shook the box there was a lot of thumps...okay, so what does that mean? "Is it a pair of shoes?" I pondered, still unsure.

Josh just shrugged. "What kind of shoes?" Oh my god I was right! Yes! Wait, how on earth does he expect me to decipher what type of shoes they are. That isn't fair.

"Ah, I don't know. Gladiators?" I had no idea, and didn't care much for guessing anymore, so tore the wrapping paper. I was right, they were shoes, but they were not what I was expecting.

I thought it would continue the theme of glamour, but I am happy that Josh broke that streak. I was pleased to see a Nike tick on the top of the box. I was in desperate need for new runners.  I pulled the lid up and moved the thin tissue paper out of the way, to be greeted by an orange pair of Nike's. "Oh my god! Yes! Thank you Josh!"

He leant down and gave me a hug. "Happy Birthday Alice." I grinned.

Putting the watch, sunglasses and shoes to the side, I awaited my mother's choice in gift. "So I guess I am lucky last." She stated, taking her sweet time with bringing the blue box over to me.

I basically snatched it out of her hands. My family couldn't help but laugh. I had been waiting to open this ever since I saw it. "Okay, I know it's from Tiffany's. Is it a ring?" My mum shrugged, as I pulled the white ribbon off.

I opened the box to find a blue pouch. Okay, so not a ring. I opened the pouch to come face to face with a beautiful silver bracelet. My mouth fell open. It was gorgeous. I allowed the cold metal to move in my hands. "So." My mum said, pulling my attention. "What do you think?"

My face broke out into a huge smile. "Perfect." I got up from my seat to go to hers and gave her a kiss on the head. As I retook my seat at the head of the table, I couldn't keep the grin off of my face. "Thank you guys! You are amazing!" They all grinned, this was a great way to start the day.

As I pulled into the parking space next to the cafe Alex worked at, I could see Shay and Sami already seated at a table next to the window. I was meeting them for lunch. I clicked the lock button for my car before heading into the cafe.

When I walked inside, it was very loud. There were people talking, the coffee machine making a gurgling noise and the bell for when the orders were ready was constantly going off.

As I made my way through the tables, I noticed a few people turn their heads, but thankfully no one approached me. It seemed everyone was in their own world.

It seemed that Shay and Sami were on edge, because as soon as they saw me they jumped out of their seats to give me a hug. "Happy birthday!" They screamed in unison.

I laughed. "Thanks girls!"

Once we untangled our arms from each other, we sat at the table. The two had waited for me so they hadn't ordered yet. "So." Sami started. "What did you get?"

I sighed. I knew their mouths were gonna drop. "Okay, so my dad got me a watch, Lily, sunglasses, Josh, runners and my mum got me a tiffany's bracelet." As I predicted they looked both stunned and excited.

"Oh my god. Show!" Shay squealed. I couldn't help but grin and shook my wrist so the silver caught their attention. "Oooo!"

The two of them yanked my hand so that they could see the piece of jewellery. "It's gorgeous." Sami grinned.

"I know. I couldn't believe she got me it." I said in all honesty. My mum never got me something so expensive.

The three of us were stopped gawking at my new bracelet when we felt a waiter standing next to our table. "Can I get you ladies anything?" I looked up to see Alex.

"Hey Alex." At the mention of his name, Shay tensed.

"Alice?" He asked, looking at me curiously.

"Yeah. I'm assuming you've heard."

"Well yeah, but I kind of forgot." He laughed. "Anyway, what would you like?"

The three of us ordered our meals and he walked away. "Okay, Shay this is ridiculous! You are dancing with him tonight."

Her eyes bulged. "What? He's coming tonight?" I nodded. "No! I can't dance with him. I barely know him."

"Who cares?" Sami said. "If you like him, you should at least talk to him."

"I talk to him." She defended herself, crossing her arms.

I chuckled. "Ordering a cappuccino with a giddy smile on your face does not count." Sami laughed while Shay pouted.

"Speaking of tonight." Shay said, getting over her self sulking. "What celebrities are going to be there?"

Ah, the beloved V.I.P. list. I still hadn't told them. "Why would I tell you and waste the opportunity to see you fangirling right in front of them?" I said with an evil grin.

Shay began pouting again. "Aw, come on Alice. Please."

"Yeah, just a couple names." Sami whined.

I rolled my eyes. "So needy." I laughed. "Fine, I'll tell you a few." They both leaned forward in their seats, preparing themselves. "Sarah Hyland, Nina Dobrev, Lucy Hale. That enough?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.

The two shook their heads. "What about the guys?"

I laughed, I wanted to leave some sort of surprise at least. "Fine." I tried remembering the list. "Shia LaBeouf, Theo James, Dave Franco. Okay. That's it. I am not giving you anymore."

They both seemed semi satisfied with my answered so we moved on. As I took a sip of my water, Shay whispered something in Sami's ear. Okay...

Sami's eyes sparked up. "I completely forgot." She said, before reaching for something underneath the table. "We forgot to give you this." She handed me a box wrapped in yellow wrapping paper.

"We hope it scales up with your families gifts." Shay smiled.

I rolled my eyes at her. She knew I wasn't materialistic. "I'm sure I'll love it." I said, popping it into my bag.

"Wait, what are you doing?" Shay countered. I looked back up at her. "Aren't you going to open it now?"

"I thought at home." I said, shrugging. "But if you insist."  I smiled.

I began unwrapping the paper when Sami stopped me. "Hey, wait." I looked at her expectantly. "You have to guess first." Why was everyone so adamant for me to guess what my present was?

"Right. Sorry." I abandoned my attempt of opening the present and began feeling around to see if the exterior gave anything away. Nope. It was a box. Fabulous.

I shook the box and the contents inside made a clinging sound. Shay and Sami tensed when they heard the noise. Oh, does that mean it's fragile?

"Candles?" I said as more of a question. I honestly had no idea. I removed the paper, to be left with a large, sleek box. I took the lid off to find at least $100 worth of make up inside. "Oh wow." I was astonished. Why did they spend so much? "Thank you." The two of them were beaming, I could tell they were satisfied with my reaction.

It didn't take long after that for our orders to arrive. We took our time, enjoying the delicious food in front of us, and soaking up the atmosphere. When we were finished we walked up to the cash register to find Alex there. "Hello again." I smiled.

He grinned. "Hey, that'll be $17, $14 and $16." He said, pointing to the person the price belonged to. We each handed him our money. "Great, have a nice day."

"I'll see you tonight, right?" I asked, putting a few coins in the tip jar.

"Yeah, can't wait."

"What do you plan on wearing, so I can keep a look out?" I smirked, making sure I knew who to accidentally push Shay into on the dance floor.

"I think you'll be able to find me." He grinned. "But if you must know, a 1920s gangster." I couldn't help but let out a laugh, I could so see him in a bowler hat.

"Great, see you then." The three of us said our goodbyes, Shay staring a tad longer than necessary before hoping back into our individual cars and heading to my house to get ready for tonight.

I was applying the last of my blush for the night. I had pieced together my angel costume, wearing a short, tight white dress, my angel wings, halo and my silver peep toe heels.

"Ready?" Shay said, playfully punching me with her boxing gloves. She was decked out in a boxer's robe, with a tight singlet and shorts.

"Yeah, but I think you should wear the boots." Sami said, coming out of my wardrobe. She was dressed in a one shouldered white dress, her hair was done up and the classic white pearls around her neck. The perfect Wilma.

Shay shrugged. "Nah, I'll get too hot."

She was wearing her high heeled sneakers. "Yeah, Sami if she's going to want to be dancing all night with Alex, she won't want to wear the boots." I snickered. Shay couldn't help the blush that came across her cheeks.

We couldn't tease her for long because there was a knock on the door. "Come in." I voiced.

Josh came in dressed in his top gun pilot uniform. "Are you ready? We need to leave."

"Yeah, Shay, Sami, you good?" The two nodded. "Perfect." The three of us followed him out.

On our way out, I tucked my clutch under my arm. My parents were standing at the door, wishing us to have a good time. I hugged them both, without them this party would not be happening. "Have a great time." My dad said.

Josh, Shay, Sami and I headed out to the hired car to take us to the club. "Wait." I heard someone yell behind me. My friends continued to the car, but Josh and I stopped, turning to see Lily running after us. She was out of breath by the time she had reached us. "I'm ready." She said between puffs.

I sighed. "Aw Buggalugs, I'm sorry but you can't come." Josh was staring at her with a sad smile on his face.

"Why not? It's your birthday party. Shouldn't family be allowed at your birthday party!" She pouted. I looked at Josh for help, I didn't know what to say. I didn't want to hurt her feelings.

Josh bent down to her level. "Lil I'm afraid you're not old enough for this party."

"That's not fair." She said, crossing her arms. "I want to come."

"Next time." I insist with a smile.

"Fine." She turned on her heels and headed back into the house, where my mum and dad were still waiting.

Josh and I turned back to the car, hoping inside. "Don't let that get you down." Josh started. "This is your night. Have fun!" I grinned wide at him. He was right, this was my night. I was going to enjoy myself.

The short ride to Liqua went quickly with the hyped atmosphere. Outside the club there was a huge queue of people lined up against the brick wall, and no shortage of photographers. Through the car windows I could see a goth dressed Rihanna, making her way through the short red carpet to the entrance. I couldn't believe so many people were here. There were going to be almost 700 people here tonight!

I took a breath, ready to start a great night. I unlocked the door and made my way out of the car. The flashes were blinding without my sunglasses. "Kayla, over here!" I heard a photographer yell.

Once Rihanna had left, all the attention had turned to Josh and I. We both strode forward towards the bouncer. "Names." The buff man said.

"Kayla Maceton." He checked his list, ticking off my name. He nodded his head towards the door. I made my way inside, faintly hearing Josh say his name.

All the flashes were replaced by an open room and a staircase labelled V.I.P. entrance to the balcony. The music was deafening, I could barely hear anything. The flashing, colourful lights not making it easier to make out anybodies face.

There was another black dressed man at the helm of the velvet rope. I figured I would greet my celebrities first. I repeated my name to the man again, who unclipped the rope for me. I headed up the staircase, my heels clicking.

The first person I spotted was Behati. She was next to the bar, dressed in a very seductive policeman outfit. I ran to her. When she saw me her eyes bulged. We collided into a large hug. "Happy birthday!" She squealed over the music.

I hugged her back. "Thank you."

We pulled away from each other. "Let me buy you a drink."

I laughed. "It's an open bar."

She rolled her eyes at me. "Fine, let me order you a drink." I couldn't keep the smile off of my face as she pulled me back towards the bar. On our way, I was wished happy birthday by at least fifteen people. "Two shots." Behati said, slapping her hand on the counter top.

The bartender nodded and poured the two glasses. We each enclosed our hands around one glass each. "1, 2, 3." And I poured the clear liquid into my mouth. I scrunched my facial expression, the burning sensation still travelling down my throat. I opened my eyes, to see Behati staring at me with humour in her eyes.

She obviously noticed my confused look. "You're so cute." She smiled. "Another?" She questioned, already waving the bartender over.

"I'll have to pass. I need to pace myself. I would like to actually remember this night." She laughed in agreement, before I figured it was time to go introduce my presence to my school friends.

On my way back down the stairs. I got hugged by a few other celebrities. It was hard to pull away from them, but eventually I was on my descent. When the bouncer saw me, he opened the rope. "A little early to be calling it a night." He commented.

I smiled. "Oh, I'm not done for the night." He looked at me confused. "I'm just going to greet my other guests. So keep in mind that throughout the night I am going to be coming up and down." The bouncer nodded in understanding as I walked into the large open area of Liqua.

I made my way into the student filled space. I could see tones of people, but I couldn't make out the people I wanted to find. I managed to spot Claudia in the centre of the dance floor, so slowly began making my way through.

I was jumping and bopping until I reached the middle. My angel wings begging knocked multiple times. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea.

When I managed to squeeze through the sweaty bodies, I tapped Claudia on the shoulder. She turned and the smile on her face grew. "Ah!" She screamed. "Alice. Happy birthday!"

I hugged her back, laughing. "Thank you." I mused. "You look great." She was wearing a purple genie costume, baring midriff and see through pants. She looked hot.

"Hey, I'm not the one rocking a skin tight dress." I blushed, diverting my eyes from hers.

Instead of going around to see everyone, I began dancing with her. We were jumping and fist pumping, loving the synchronised mania the drops caused. I could see Sami and Jarred next to each other, having fun.

We lasted another half an hour, before calling it. On our way to the bar, I pulled my wings off. They were just becoming a hassle. I still had my halo, I'm sure people would still recognise what I was.

As Claudia ordered each of us a drink, I noticed Alex standing with a group of his friends. Shay not too far away, openly staring. I rolled my eyes at her. "Here you go." Claudia said, handing me my gin and tonic. I gave her a kiss on the cheek before making my way over to Shay.

When she saw me her face lit up. "Hey." I greeted her, bopping my hip against hers.

"Hey." She grinned. "Where did you go? You disappeared at the entrance."

I laughed. "Yeah, I had to go see some of the celebrities. But I'm here now and I am going to get you to dance with Alex."

Her eyes bulged, when I grabbed her wrist. I pulled her over to the dance floor. "What are you doing?"

"I'll bring him over, just start dancing." She nodded, starting to dance with a girl dressed in a cheerleading uniform.

I turned back around and made my way across the hyped room to find Alex still with his friends. He saw me approaching. "Hey Alice."

I grinned at him, pulling at his arm. "You're coming with me." His friends all had smirks on their faces, laughing to themselves. He quickly put his drink down as I grabbed his arm and began pulling him to where Shay was dancing.

As we got into the crowd, we started bouncing. We made our way over to where Shay was. When she saw me, I could tell she was freaking out. Her eyes were frantic. I continued to pull Alex, until we were in front of Shay.

The three of us began dancing together, and soon I could tell I was the third wheel. I slowly etched my way off of the dance floor, neither of them seeming to mind. Alex and Shay just having fun together.

I decided it was time to go back up to the V.I.P. area. On my way back to the staircase, almost everyone I passed said hi to me, wishing me happy birthday. I kindly thanked them, and allowed them to continue on with their festivities.
Just as I was about to spring free of the crowd, someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around to come face to face with Tyson, Claudia's brother. "Tyson." I said, smirking at him.

He returned the gesture. "Alice." His voice laced with just as much fake peppiness as mine. Neither one of us held out for long, bursting out laughing at the way we had greeted each other. "An angel, really?" He rolled his eyes, once we had calmed down the laughing.

"Like you're any better." I said, pulling on his oversized bow tie. "The cat in the hat, really?"

He grinned. "At least I wasn't cliche."

"At least I put effort in." I mocked, crossing my hands over my chest and sticking my nose in the air.

He laughed at my impersonation. "All jokes aside." He started. "Happy birthday."

I smiled at him. "Thank you." He turned around, heading straight towards the bar, whilst I continued on my previous route to go back upstairs.

The bouncer gave me a nod as he opened the velvet rope for me. I climbed the staircase to find the celebrities dancing to the music, the strobe lights going off. I laughed, not caring who I ended up dancing with.

I ran into the dance floor and began dancing with everyone else. I was jumping, sweating and moving to the beat, just having a good time.

I found myself in a group filled with Ashley Benson, Liam Hemsworth and Dylan O'Brien. It was an odd mix, but we all didn't care. I could see the massive smiles of all of them. We were all enjoying ourselves. I was shaking my hair with Ashley, laughing with Liam and silently ogling at Dylan.

Eventually I was pulled away by Erin. She pulled an out-of-breath me to the bar where Adriana and Doutzen joined us, as Erin ordered another round of shots. The bartender graciously poured the four glasses, and we all grabbed one. "To Kayla." Doutzen screamed.

"To Kayla." The other two repeated. I just grinned. There was a clink of the glasses, some of the liquid spilling on my hands and we swallowed. Once again, I pulled a face, the tangy taste not leaving my mouth.

As I was laughing with them, I remembered that I had to make an announcement. I excused myself from my friends and went over to the microphone that overlooked the bottom area and was visible from the balcony. I texted Lola, and soon later the music cut out.

"Hello everybody!" I screamed. There was an uproar from the crowd. "Thank you all for coming out tonight! I really appreciate all the birthday wishes! Have a good night!" There was another cheer from the crowd, before the DJ went back to blasting the music.

I was pulled into a group hug with a maid dressed Candice and a lifeguard dressed Miranda before I headed back to the staircase. As I was walking there, I saw Emma Stone making out with her boyfriend. I tried to hide the grin, I was happy everybody was having a good time.

I continued walking, heading down the stairs. The familiar smirk of the bouncer taking my notice. He opened the red velvet rope to let me through but was bombarded by some girls from my school, begging to go upstairs. I couldn't help but giggle.

As soon as I entered the room again, when the lights hit me again, I could feel the alcohol was beginning to take an affect. I slowly went down to the dance floor, slightly tipsy, but half way there I tripped on my own feet.

As I was in mid air, I felt someone grab my arm before I hit the floor. The person pulled me up and turned me around. "You okay?" Sam asked.

I laughed. Okay, maybe the alcohol was starting to set in more than I thought. "Yeah, thanks." I said, no longer leaning against him. "Sorry, we always seem to meet with me falling over."

This time he laughed. "At least there is always someone to catch you." I laughed with him, as he lead me to the dance floor. He lead me to the middle, where I found Lewis dressed in a karate costume. A group of Sam's friends and a few of Lewis' track team mates were around us as we danced.

It wasn't long before Lewis began dragging me off the dance floor. "Don't you want to dance." I said, tugging on his arm.

"I need a drink." He smirked at my kid-like behaviour. The two of us headed to the bar and he ordered himself a water.

I rolled my eyes at his creative drink choice. "That's so boring."

"Oh this isn't for me." He took the glass from the bartender. "This is for you."

I looked at him and then at the glass, taking it. "Why thank you." I grinned. After that he ordered himself a beer, smiling at me.

When the two of us had gotten our drinks, he directed me to one of the couches off to the side. I hadn't sat down all night, so when my butt hit that cushion, it felt heavenly. "Ah." I mused with a sigh.

"You seem happy." Lewis laughed, taking a swig of his beer.

"Well, I haven't sat down in three hours, so yes, I am happy."

"Good, I am glad you are having a good time. I never got to wish you happy birthday."

"Aw, thanks Lulu."

"Lulu?" He chuckled. Oh my god! Did I just call him that? What is wrong with me? Stupid alcohol not filtering my words.

"What do you think? Too much?" I tried playing it out. He blushed and giving how red he was, for the sake of his masculinity, I dropped it. "You enjoying yourself?" I said, watching the dance floor. The sweaty bodies crashing together.

"Yeah, it's great. Took me a while to figure out what I was gonna wear though." I looked back at him, he was dressed in a karate uniform, with his chest exposed and a black belt.

"Well you nailed it." I said, pulling on the belt. "This real?" I thought he only ran?

"It's my cousins. He leant it to me."

"Yeah, I was about to say. You can't be able to run and fight, that just defeats the whole purpose of the fight or flight concept, you can't be able to do both." What was I saying? I sounded like an idiot. Where was all of this coming from?

I took another sip of my water, trying to cover my embarrassment. Why was I so flustered in front of him tonight? "Well, you look beautiful." I stared at him again, it was my turn to blush.

I kissed him on the cheek. "Thanks Lewis." I smiled, genuinely. The look of shock on his face was evident. His mouth was parted and his eyes were wild. Before I knew it he had placed one of his hands onto the side of my face, caressing my cheek.

Within a second, I had gone from being slightly out of it, to at full attention. He was leaning in. My hands had become clammy. I could feel my heart racing. I began taking short, silent breaths, trying to calm my nerves.

As his face was an inch away, I noticed that he had faded freckles on his cheeks.  I wondered why I had never noticed them before.

Just as the longing became unbearable, Lewis' lips met mine. I shut my eyes, allowing the warmth of his mouth to consume me. It sent a current running through my body. He put his other hand on the side of my face, deepening the kiss. I openly let him, getting lost in his soft lips.

Being so bundled up in each other, we forgot to breathe. Eventually we pulled away, both grinning. "Wow." Lewis breathed.

My smiled grew. "Yeah." The two of us were speechless.

Just as we were lost in one another's eyes, I heard someone clear their throat. I looked to my right, to see Josh standing there with a blank expression. "Alice, Lola needs you."

I looked back at Lewis, giving him another quick peck. "Okay." I stood up. "Where is she?"

Josh pointed to the back of the club. "Behind the bar." I nodded, as he walked away.

Lewis stood up next to me. "We can finish this later." He whispered in my ear. I turned to face him, looking at him admirably.

"Thank you." I smiled, apologetically. "Sorry."

He gave me another kiss on the cheek, sending chills down my neck. "Talk soon." On that he walked away, heading back to the dance floor where his friends still were.

I stood there for a moment, lost in the memory. That was so spontaneous and I liked it. The goofy grin didn't leave my face as I followed Josh's directions to where Lola was.

I found her leaning against a wall with a glass of white wine in her hand. "There you are." She kicked herself off of the wall. "Guests are starting to leave, so I think we need to do the cake." I nodded in agreement, still not ready to talk.

So I followed her through the club and on to the DJ's stage. She whispered something into the guy's ear while I patiently waited. I stood to the side, placing a hand on my lips, remembering the gentle touch of his lips.

Soon the music cut out and was replaced by Lola's voice being blasted through the speakers. "I think it's time we sing the birthday girl, happy birthday." There was a cheer from the crowd of people. The celebrities on the balcony looked down, grinning. At least a quarter of the club was drunk and majority were tipsy so I didn't know how this was going to go.

As my friends and colleagues began singing happy birthday, a metre long cheesecake was pushed out from behind the stage, 18 candles shining brightly. "Hip hip. Hooray! Hip hip. Hooray!" The crowd bellowed.

The cake was in front of me. I had to make a wish. I closed my eyes and took a breath. I wish for another exciting, crazy and fun filled year, full of great memories. I smiled.

I opened my eyes, took a large breath, filling my lungs, before releasing it on to the candles. I managed to blow out the whole cake in one blow. When the flames went out, there was a manic howl from the crowd, people were screaming, others laughing. Everyone overexcited.

Soon the music was blasted on again, and the crazy atmosphere continued, as everyone seemed more energised.

I hopped off of the stage and headed for the bathroom, I needed to pee. On my way, I caught a glimpse of Sami and Jarred having a little make out session of there own, but what surprised me even more was seeing Alex all over Shay. I guess they're night was going well.

I laughed to myself and headed for the bathroom. I went into a cubicle, when I heard a few girls come in. When I went to wash my hands, I found Miya, my masseuse, patting a girl's back. "Did you get it all out?" She asked, her friend. The blonde nodded, gratefully taking the glass of water, Miya gave her.

She had a sad expression on her face until she looked up to see me getting a paper towel. "Hey."

"Hey." She said, smiling at me. "Great party, thanks again for the invite."

I laughed. "I'm glad you're enjoying yourself, but take care of this one." I nudged my head towards her friend. She smiled at me, before I headed back into the muggy atmosphere. I figured it was time to go back up to my celebrity friends.

I snuck through the crowd and managed to get to the staircase with no interruptions. The bouncer smiled at me. "Having a good night?" He asked, having noticed my huge grin.

"You could say that." I smirked. He opened the velvet rope for me, and as I ascended the staircase for the third time that night, I found Channing Tatum leaving with a drunk Ansel Elgort. I nodded at him and he wished me happy birthday before leaving with Ansel on his shoulder.

When I reached the top, my feet were beginning to hurt. I could see that some of the girls on the dance floor had already taken off their heels. Should I? I was just about to when one of my mum's well engraved piece of partying information popped into my head. A classy lady always wears her shoes.

I could picture her pointing her finger at me, scowling. I laughed at the thought and proceeded to find my friends. The first person I spotted was Alessandra having a conversation with Nina Dobrev and Julianne Hough both wearing superhero outfits.

I made my way over to the trio, giving Alessandra a side hug. "There you are." She smiled, hugging me back. "We thought you left."

I chuckled. "Nope, but remember I technically have to be at two parties at once." The group laughed.

"Great party." Nina mused.

Julianne grinned. "Yeah, definitely one of the highlights of the year." I gave them a little bow.

"How about another round to celebrate?" Alessandra suggested, already waving the bartender over. Who was I to disagree.

"3, 2, 1." We raised our glasses in the air, and for the third time that night I shot the clear liquid down my throat. I managed to keep my eyes open this time, but couldn't help but purse my lips.

We were all giggling and chatting, when there was a loud scream from downstairs. My face dropped. Oh no. I ran to the railing that overlooked where my friends were. I pushed through the bodies of celebrities that were already there. When I saw the crowd down below, what I saw, shocked me.

Luke was lunging at Lewis.

I watched in horror as two of my best friends began punching each other. Not caring about being a lady, I pulled my heels off, and began running down the stairs. I jumped the velvet rope and ran to the scene.

The crowd had formed a little circle around the two. The security guards were restraining the two boys, the black dressed guys looking at me for direction. "Outside." I screamed, so the whole club could hear me. "But the back door." I whispered. I did not want the tabloids to know about this.

The boys were directed through the crowd, and pushed out the door into the side street of the club. I followed them, managing to pull my heels back on. I shut the door, while the two boys stood in front of me.

Lewis with blood rushing from his nose, and Luke with red knuckles. "What is wrong with you?" I said, rushing to Luke. He looked down, not meeting my eye. I grabbed his chin and forced him to look at me. "Why did you hit Lewis?" His eyes were squinted, he was drunk. I took a deep breath, I had to be careful about this. "Are you okay?" Ignoring Luke's hostility.

"I'll be fine." Lewis said whipping his nose. "It doesn't feel broken." I nodded at him, and turned back to Luke.

"Do you have nothing to say? You punched him and you have nothing to say." I countered, getting angry.

He looked me directly in the eye. "He was kissing you!" Luke yelled. Oh no. "He was kissing you." He repeated, looking back at the ground, defeated.

My face dropped. He saw us. "Yes, we kissed." I managed to get out, my voice shaky. I wasn't denying it but I didn't want to hurt him. "But that doesn't give you a right to hit him."

"He was kissing you, what was I supposed to do?" I looked at him, dumbfounded. How much had he drank tonight? If he was thinking like this, it had to of been a lot.

"What you were supposed to do." I scowled at him. "Was talk to me, not hit him."

"Fine, let's talk. Right now!"

"Fine." I screamed back at him. "Talk!"

Just then, the back door flew open. I turned to find, Shay, Sami and Claudia all standing there. I mentally rolled my eyes, great timing.

When Luke saw the group of people at the door, I heard him mutter some curse words under his breath, before walking away. I stared at his sagged shoulders as he stormed off until he turned the corner.

When I turned around, I saw Sami was dabbing at Lewis's nose, and Shay was pushing Claudia to do something. I walked over to Lewis, to check if he was okay. "You sure you're okay?" I asked, sadness in my eyes.

"Yeah, I'm fine, but my cousin is going to kill me." He laughed, gesturing to his red stained karate uniform. I couldn't keep the grin off of my face.

Once he was cleaned up, and everyone had calmed down, we headed back inside. "Where did Claudia go?" I asked the girls, while Lewis went to the bathroom. She had disappeared.

Shay gave me an anxious look. "I sent her to go after Luke."

"What?" I asked, confused.

She shared a look with Sami, begging her to continue. "Yeah, they actually have quite a good relationship."

"Woah, woah, woah. Pause. Since when?"

"You know the day you broke up with him." I nodded. "Well, he wanted some advice on how to get you back. He asked us and Claudia."

"Yeah, and. That doesn't explain anything."

"Well, they began meeting and he vented to her. She didn't want to tell you, because she didn't want to hurt your feelings. She respected that you liked him, so she was just trying to help him out."

I looked at them, slightly taken aback. I never even realised. But if I think about it, I highly doubt it was Luke's idea to put me in that kissing booth that day. "I guess that makes sense." I said, scratching the back of my neck.

The three of us continued back into the club, where everyone had gotten past the confrontation and were already dancing all over each other again. I tried to get back into the happy, peppy mood I was in before, but it just wasn't the same.

I chilled with the angels, and when they asked about Luke. I told them that I would tell them later. They nodded in understanding and allowed me to drown my sorrows with a margarita. Another hour passed, of me drinking and dancing and before I knew it, my mind was clear. I didn't care about anything. "Woohoo!" I screamed on the dance floor with Tyson and Alex.

We were all screaming and dancing. The three of us were waiting for the drop, building up, and jumping like crazy. I couldn't help but laugh. This was how I wanted to spend my birthday. Being an idiot, being free. I was having fun.

This party was going to go down in the history books. There was an overwhelming amount of people, free liquor, paparazzi, a brawl and a scandalous love story. Now that will be a memorable birthday.

Author's Note:

I have a question for you: what suprised you? I'd love to know!

I know it's been a really long since I last updated. And I am really sorry! This chapter was one of the most challenging to write, I found myself lost at points on how to represent things. It took me a good few days to get this chapter right. And I hope you enjoyed it, because I know this party has been building up for a while. And I would just like to thank you all for being so supportive!
