After a long day, checking and talking to every servant who had worked on the day his mother was murdered, Key laid down on the bed tiredly, hoping Jonghyun had more lucks with the guards. Then suddenly, his eyes flung wide open as he felt someone's arm around his waist.
"Jjong," he said, flinched. He had forgiven the Prince. Yes, that was true, but he still couldn't forget that night completely, even though he was trying his best and Jonghyun was being really patient with him. They were taking it slow... very slow. Jonghyun was gentle and hadn't forced him to anything he wasn't comfortable with anymore.
"Don't be afraid. I won't do anything to you." The Prince said as he laid down next to his fiancée. "I just want to make sure that you're really here."
"What are you talking about, Jjong?" Kibum asked confusingly.
"I mean two weeks ago, I wouldn't even think of lying next to you or holding you like this. It still feels like a dream." Jonghyun answered, causing Key to smile. The Prince could talk nonsense sometimes, but Key found that pretty cute. Kibum turned around and wrapped his arms around the Prince's neck, pulling himself closer. Jonghyun held his breath nervously as Key looked straight into his eyes with a smirk on his face. He was about to attack the younger boy's cherry lips as someone hit his head hard.
"Ouch, what was that for?" He asked in shock.
"Ouch, it hurts?" Kibum played the innocent.
"Yes," cried Jonghyun, rubbing his head in pain.
"Then it's not a dream," Key said with a victory smile, causing the Prince to roll his eyes in disbelief.
"Do you even know who you just hit? I'm the Prince of the Kingdom." Jonghyun asked, trying to look serious but failed to hide his smile.
"Oh, forgive me, your Highness. I thought it was a Dino's head," answered Key sarcastically.
"Dino? Wow, Kim Kibum, you're so dead." The Prince said before pinning the younger boy down, started tickling him.
"H-Help... a D-Dino... is attacking... me" Key shouted out loud through his laughter.
"Dino, huh? You have got a nerve, Bummie," Jonghyun asked, continued tickling and very soon the huge room was filled with their laughter.
"Jjong... S-stop... or else... I will..." Kibum said, struggled. Just then, the Prince stopped, looked at the boy under him curiously.
"Or else you'll do what?" He asked with a smirk and there was suddenly silence in the room. Key felt his heart raced as Jonghyun's eyes wandered to his lips. Slowly, the Prince leaned closer as if he was checking Key's reaction, asking for permission. Kibum blinked nervously as he felt Jonghyun's hot breath on his nose. The Prince was only inches away from him. The gap between their lips was shorter and shorter until...
"Jonghyun, how did ... OH" Minho's voice ruined the silence, causing the boys to look to the door in shock.
"Minho?" They said together, still in an awkward position, since Jonghyun was still on top of Kibum.
"S-Sorry I didn't know you guys were..." Minho apologized while his face got red as a tomato. "C-Continue with ... I ... I was just... I'll go now. Sorry."
"Hey Minho, stay. There is nothing happening." Key called after the tall boy before turned back to Jonghyun.
"Ahm, Jjong?" He whispered, causing the Prince to get off of him immediately as he noticed in what awkward position they were.
"It's not what it looks like. We're just joking around." Jonghyun told his friend.
"You don't have to explain anything to me. It's not my business what you guys do in the bedroom." Minho said, causing Key to blush at the statement.
"There was really nothing... Oh, you know what, forget it. What did you want to tell me?" The Prince asked.
Minho stepped in and closed the door behind him.
"I just wanted to ask whether you found out something new. Our time is running out." He said worriedly.
"No we couldn't," said Jonghyun.
"No one noticed something unusual on that day," Kibum added.
"So it was a waste of time again? This is so frustrating." Minho sighed.
"Not really," Key said.
"What do you mean?" Minho asked while Jonghyun looked at Kibum with curious eyes.
"Well, look. It is not what people noticed, but what they didn't. They all said that the day was absolutely normal and there was nothing odd." Key explained.
"I don't understand how this is going to help us," Jonghyun said, confused.
"It does help us since at least we can be sure that the killer wasn't a stranger or someone from the outside because if it was so, somebody would have realized it. That means we're looking for a person who lives in the castle or is often enough here; someone, whose presence wouldn't awake people's attention." Kibum continued.
Minho's jaw dropped, looked at Key with wide opened eyes before turned to Jonghyun who was as surprised as him.
"He is scary good," Minho said to the Prince.
"Yes, he is," Jonghyun whispered back. "What do you think does he do in his free time?"
"Well, for sure it's not drawing or gardening," Minho replied.
"Remind me not to cheat on him ever." The Prince told his best friend quietly.
"Ahm, hello, guys? I'm still here." Kibum said, giving the other boys a deadly glance, causing them to keep silence immediately.
Key nodded in satisfaction before speaking again.
"Shouldn't we better talk to Onew? I mean he is the most important witness."
"Of course we have thought of that. We talked to him millions of times, but he couldn't remember more details." Jonghyun said.
Kibum, then, made a thoughtful expression and suddenly his eyes lit up as something came into his mind.
"I like that smile. He got an idea." Minho said to Jonghyun.
"How about we help to jog his memory?" Kibum asked.
"And how are we going to do that?" The Prince asked and a smirk appeared on Key's face.
"We're going to bring him to the library. Going back there is a good way to help him remember." Kibum said.
"Bummie, did you forget that Onew is arrested. I can't just tell the guard to let him out of his cell, even if I'm the Prince."
"Don't worry. I'll take care of that," replied Key with a smile.
It was late, everyone was sleeping and the silence filled the castle. Under the moonlight, three boys were standing before the prison, hiding in the protective darkness.
"Are you sure this will work?" Minho asked, whispered.
"Trust me, the guard won't notice anything," answered Key with confidence before heading to stairways, going upstairs.
Kibum held his breath nervously as he walked carefully, step by step, to Onew's cell, which was in a separate area of the prison and was closely-guarded all day. He quietly hid behind the wall, scanning every part of the place. It was exactly like Jonghyun had said; in the night, there was only one guard here. It was a young man, maybe only a few years older than Key and he was standing at the end of the stairways.
"It's show time," murmured Kibum before continued walking, paying attention to every step he made, while his eyes never leave the guard. Suddenly, the man turned around, his hand grabbed for his sword with incredible speed.
"Who are you?" He asked loudly, causing Kibum to flinch in fear. The guard had seen his shadow on the floor while Key was too busy with being quiet.
Kibum, on his side, jumped up in shock, tripped over his own feet and fell down the stair. Luckily, the guard had caught him before he reached the floor.
"Thank you," said Key while holding on the man's shoulder to stand up. At that second, an angry Jonghyun came out of nowhere.
"What are you doing to my fiancée? Get your hand off him." He yelled loudly, causing the guard to step back from Kibum, bowing to the Prince.
"Your Highness?" The man asked in shock, putting his sword back to its scabbard. "It's not what it looks like." He explained nervously after realizing who Kibum was.
"Do you mean you didn't touch my fiancée and I just imagine it? Is that what you wanted to say?" Jonghyun asked angrily.
"No, I wasn't saying that." The guard stuttered, looking to Key, asking for help. Noticed that, Jonghyun turned to the younger boy, asked.
"Did he place his hand on you, Bummie?"
"Uhm," answered Key quietly, nodded; causing the guard to widen his eyes in fear.
"Your Highness, it was only because he tripped. I just wanted to help." He said.
"So you don't deny taking adventure of him?" The Prince asked, pointing at the man furiously.
"N-no... I...I mean it was because..." The man stuttered, trying to explain but was cut off by Jonghyun.
"Because of what?" The Prince yelled loudly. "He is the Prince's fiancée, are you the Prince?"
"No, no, of course not." The guard bowed, begging for forgiveness.
"He is my future wife, the future Queen and you dare to touch him? Who do you think you are? Do you even know the consequences of your action? Even if you die thousands of time, you still can't get rid of your guilt."
"Forgive me, your Highness." The man shivered at the Prince's statement.
"Too bad, I don't know how I can forgive you," Jonghyun replied coldly.
"Your Highness, please forgive me. I'll do everything for you." The guard begged in fear.
"Everything?" The Prince asked.
"Yes, Jjong, he said everything," answered Kibum for the guard with a smirk on his face that only confused the man.
"Minho?" Jonghyun called his best friend. Just then, the knight appeared.
"Open Onew's cell." The Prince demanded.
"I'll stay here instead of Onew for a while. All you have to do is to turn a blind eye." Minho told the guard, pushed the confusing Onew out of the cell.
"I really can't do that," said the man worried.
"If you want me to act as nothing happened earlier, then this is also not happening," Jonghyun said.
"Don't worry. Onew will be back soon. I promise." Kibum added.
The guard made a thoughtful face before nodded.
"I guess it's so dark here that I can't even tell who is who." He said, causing the other boys to smile and left the prison, together with Onew.
"You plan was perfect, Bummie. But don't use it ever again," said Jonghyun, making Kibum look at him in confusion.
"Just don't let anyone else touche you again." Key blushed as the Prince whispered the last sentence in his ear.
"I don't understand, what are we doing?" Onew asked, breaking the awkward silence after Jongkey's mini conversation. Key, then, explained everything to him and he really couldn't say it was a bad idea. Coming back the library again after so many years was really making him remember how it felt like that day. The room and everything in it were still the same, only that they were now covered with dust and there was no dead body on the floor. Onew entered the room, looking around carefully while standing unmoving in the middle of the room. A silence filled the room for a long time, causing Jongkey to feel nervous, not knowing if it worked or not. Just then, Onew turned around to face them, his eyes lit up.
"I guess I remember something," answered Onew unsurely and with that smiles appeared on the boys' faces as they rushed over to him.
