san wooyoung

hands neatly settled into his pockets and feet occasionally scuffing the dirt, wooyoung was strolling at a comfortable pace alongside hyunjin, the two boys, truth be told; silently enjoying each other's company.

"how was the test?" hyunjin asked finally, breaking the silence and glancing over at him.

wooyoung's mouth twisted secretively and quirked an eyebrow at his friend, removing indigo streaks from his eyes with a casual flick of his head. "let's just say someone's going to be granting me a wish."

the other made the wise decision not to question this, simply kicking at his ankle lightly.

"thank god they're over." hyunjin added, regarding the tests they'd been having. "we get to go on that field trip now."

wooyoung nodded in agreement. "honestly figured they'd cancel it because of what went down last time they had the trip."

hyunjin shrugged unknowingly, humming before suggesting; "it's sort of tradition, so they can't just cancel it that easily. there'd be way too much objection."

"true." their conversation was casual, easier than it had been in the last few weeks.

wooyoung was grateful that his friend, one of the few people he actually could tolerate seemed to be going back to normal with him now.

and there didn't have to be secrets between them anymore.

"are you going to try smuggle jeongin on the trip?" wooyoung feigned teasing interest, referring to something many students had done before them in bringing uninvited guests along.

hyunjin looked at him calculatingly before shrugging nonchalantly. "nah. but i'm not sure why you're suddenly interested since it's pretty damn obvious yang jeongin is not your favourite person."

he cringed inwardly, realizing his feelings were probably not very subtle. "i was just wondering, dude."

yeah, 'just wondering' so he could prepare himself for any unwelcome heists the younger might try to pull. the trip was tomorrow, and things with he and san were too good right now for anyone to disrupt that again.

"on second thought," hyunjin began thoughtfully, deviating his own plans within a subtle smirk. "i might just bring him."

•••

they all gathered in front of the school the next morning, groaning complaints sounding among tired students combined with excited and anticipating chatter. wooyoung and san stood shoulder to shoulder, the latter sporting a bright dimpled smile and practically skipping on the spot.

that was the only reason wooyoung couldn't complain about having to rise from his bed before it suited him and agreeing to carry both of their bags like the good boyfriend he was.

the teachers struggled to calm everyone down after announcing they were to leave any moment, still ticking a register and squinting at each student in what appeared to be an attempt of dominating assertion. they also went about he lengthy process of checking bags for alcohol, much to jongho and wooyoung's disappointment.

his eyes traveled to where hyunjin stood a few feet away from them with minho, seonghwa, mingi and jeongin, praying guiltily that jeongin would be caught and sent back. san still hadn't noticed the rest of their friends, too focused on his childish excitement, evident through the way he kept clutching wooyoung's arm and tugging impatiently.

wooyoung angled his attention to the group as soon as he heard a teacher questioning jeongin's identity, but dropped his head again glumly when the woman believed hyunjin telling her that the younger's attendance was imperative due to a rare health condition that required him to be with the elder at all times.

"cheer up!" san grinned, snapping him out of it. "we get to go to the beach! isn't that cool?"

wooyoung huffed shortly in response, a soft smile creeping onto his tightened features when he caught sight of his boyfriend's bright expectant eyes. he patted his raven locks fondly, the other's head resting on his shoulder and at the right level for him to do so.

"oh, look!" san suddenly raised his head off his shoulder, waving energetically. "it's the others!"

joy. wooyoung pasted a forced smile on his face, guilt eating him inside out.

"don't look so excited." san hissed sarcastically under his breath as the others walked over. "why are you being like this?"

"just want you all to myself." wooyoung replied quietly, knocking the other lightly with his hip, causing san to redden and hit him teasingly.

"later." he whispered boldly before hopping away with a giggle to greet the others.

"jeongin!" he added more loudly, the two hugging warmly, missing the way both hyunjin and wooyoung each clenched their fists jealously but couldn't help but find them adorable.

at last, the coaches' doors opened simultaneously, everyone scrambling to get on and score seats at the back, which ended up being inevitably claimed by jackson, seulgi, soyeon and a few others that most people were just too weirded out by or terrified of to go near.

seonghwa ended up seated next to yeosang, because mingi wanted to sit next yunho, and minho declared he was sitting alone to die in peace while jongho was undoubtedly on the lower deck talking to a bunch of girls.

wooyoung sat next to the window, and san next to him in the isle seat across from yeosang's to save him from gay combustion while seonghwa unknowingly leaned against his shoulder in a bro kind of way.

jeongin and hyunjin sat in front of them, the latter flirting relentlessly but subtly, the younger giggling every now and again, the sound somehow isolated from the other laughs and noisy chatter within the bus.

as the journey progressed, wooyoung watching the scenery move by through the window silently, san fell asleep in his seat, head lolling onto his chest as his breathing deepened. this was unacceptable to the lilac haired male, worrying for the other getting a neck cramp, so he immediately maneuvered the sleeping boy's head gently onto his lap before resuming his window gazing like nothing happened.

he may have drifted off at some point, but one way or the other, the next time he opened his eyes was when the coach halted to a stop, all the students collectively sighing in relief.

wooyoung didn't know if he should be worried or not that yeosang and seonghwa had both disappeared from their seats as they were both empty when he turned his head to look.

"we've arrived." a teacher announced through a megaphone, causing wooyoung to make a disapproving sound and cover san's ears with his hands so his sleep wouldn't be disturbed. "please remain under control, everyone. we'll give you two hours of free time before we all have to meet back here to find out where you'll be sleeping and you'll be rooming with. boys and girls will be separate."

that earned a reaction from the students, but wooyoung smiled smugly and hyunjin winked at him, his friend's hand casually thrown around jeongin's shoulders. "no complaining, thank you. and your roommates have already been assigned. i think that's all, so let's get going, everyone!"

while everyone else scrambled up to make for the exit, wooyoung waited for the way to be clear before he removed his hands and lent down so that his mouth was positioned over san's ear. "time to wake up." he breathed.

the groggy other opened his eyes and looked up in confusion as if still coming to his senses. "we're here?"

wooyoung nodded, making to unstrap his seat belt before remembering he wasn't wearing one, to which san gasped animatedly. "oh my god, he's a really bad boy."

he just made a face at the joking boy, getting up from his seat and following san into the isle and down the stairs of the coach, finally greeted with fresh air which he inhaled deeply and thankfully.

"breathe it in while you can, lover boy." came the dry retort of yeosang who had suddenly appeared behind them. "it won't be clean for long."

wooyoung roller his eyes, seonghwa moving past the moody other with his hands splayed in surrender as he stepped around him as if their was imaginary warning tape he couldn't cross.

"where were you two?" wooyoung shot back innocently, yeosang clenching his jaw in answer and stalking off.

san paid them no attention, and as soon as his eyes met with the expanse of navy waters against an endless strip of golden sand kissed by glimmering sunlight, they lit up as brightly as the warmth before them, he wasted no time rushing towards the beach.

"it's the sea!" he yelled excitedly, and wooyoung couldn't help but laugh at his silliness while his heart grew fuller by the second.

"immature." seonghwa muttered, pulling his collar up awkwardly.

wooyoung whirled on him defensively, surveying his friend's appearance. "shut up. wanna tell me where you were?"

his friend shrugged like it was nothing. "not really. with everyone being gay and stuff it kinda made me wonder-"

"okay you know what, never mind." wooyoung shuddered, beginning to run down to the beach after san and leaving seonghwa and his explanations alone.

"wooyoungie!" san giggled, eyes forming such crescents wooyoung doubted he could see, his dimples prominent enough to hold something in them.

"w-wooyoungie?" he repeated, allowing san to drag him over to a blanket some people had already laid out.

felix, hyunjin, jeongin, mingi and yunho were all engaged in an intense game of volleyball, while minho and yeosang were sunning themselves on the blanket, heads tipped to drink up the sunlight.

he and san joined the match, all of them really just messing around too much at this point for it to be serious anymore.

their light laughs sounded musically in the air, all feeling young and free- something special that you didn't get to feel too many times in life.

once the game turned into one of beach rugby, things were bound to get out of hand.

they went from jongho joining in and then being disqualified by practically lifting and throwing players out the game to minho and mingi having to be pulled off of each other when the latter kicked sand in his face and started a wrestling match.

when wooyoung got the ball, it was to san's advantage because he knew exactly how to beat him, tackling him to the ground while his cool hands accidentally found their way under his shirt and up his warm honey skin, causing the poor boy to shudder and give up the ball helplessly.

eventually, they were tired out, all flopping down and breathing hard, beads of sweat glistening on their foreheads.

"you know what," san panted, catching everyone's attention as he shook his head. "it's too hot for this."

with that, the dark haired boy surprised everyone by pulling his top clean from his body, exposing smooth tanned skin and a defined stomach that caused wooyoung in particular to turn his head away from to stop himself from doing something inappropriate.

"dude, he stripped." mingi gasped, while hyunjin made a defeated sound and also ripped off his shirt, following suit and causing jeongin to gulp.

"another one." yunho whispered back, eyes wide well wooyoung licked his dry lips.

"you thirsty bitches." san chided before making his way to the water. "i'm not swimming with my shirt on, it was expensive."

the topless boy stretched his arms more slowly than he should have, undoubtedly on purpose as he added a little airy sound of relief.

wooyoung noticed he wasn't the only one staring, and had to stop himself from punching felix square in the face by the way his eyes glittered longingly.

yeah, he was going to do something about that.

"no point standing there showing off your body to us," wooyoung said to him, getting up and dusting his sandy shorts. "if you're not going to get in the water."

before san could react, wooyoung scooped the surprised boy up in his arms bridal style, bare skin against his damp shirt and muscled arms flaying around his neck in fear of falling.

with a meaningful backward glance at felix, wooyoung kissed his neck once softly, lips making their mark carefully behind his ear before he laughed softly against the skin and eased into the shallows thigh deep before chucking the boy into the water.

he also didn't miss felix's downward guilt glance, message received loud and clear while the rest of them laughed and clapped.

as soon as san resurfaced, spluttering and flicking the wet hair from his forward, he jumped onto wooyoung's back with a shout of, "YOU'RE DEAD!"

he dragged wooyoung under the water with him, soaking his clothes and earning a whoop and more applause from spectators on the beach.

after that, hyunjin was soon to follow, before everyone except jeongin (who san described as a self conscious baby) and minho were in the water.

even yeosang rid himself of his shirt, much to san's surprise, but it became clear why when he pointedly ignored seonghwa who kept biting his lip and unsubtly checking him out.

it turned out that this trip was going to full of surprises, for everyone, whether they liked it or not.
