[jordans house–tuesday afternoon]
BEN COULDN'T help but be afraid when the people with guns broke down the front door.
"Holy shit!" Klaus screeched, scrambling backwards. Allison screamed, and Diego instinctively threw the nearest sharp object. It nailed one guy in the face, but more kept piling through the doorway.
Quick as they could, all six in the living room retreated into the kitchen; Diego armed himself with knives and tensed, ready to throw. Allison grabbed a knife of her own, and Vanya stood there looking panicked. Ben couldn't blame her.
Bullets started to rain down, hailing on them from all directions. Five appeared behind them in a flash of blue light.
"Holy shit!" He yelled as Klaus pulled him behind the counter. A bullet whizzed over their heads.
"What's the plan?" Allison asked Luther as Diego stood up and threw a knife into ones eye.
"Run?" Luther winced. They all gaped at him.
"You really are worthless!" Diego snapped, and then he got to his feet and vaulted himself over the counter.
"Diego!" Klaus shrieked, but he was already gone. Ben could hear him throwing knives; he was pretty sure Diego had started hiding behind chairs.
"We can't leave him!" Five shouted over the din, and he snatched up a butter knife. He smiled grimly and was gone in a flash of light; a spray of blood fell across the counter, dropping onto Ben's hair.
"What the heck," Ben sighed, standing up. He lifted his shirt and the tentacles flew out, grasping seven men around the neck. One was thrown against the wall.
"Sweet!" Klaus grinned. "Violence!"
Within seconds, all seven Hargreeves where fighting in sync; Ben was continuously disarming or strangling men, and Luther picked up a gun. He was firing it now, the bullets adding to the chaos—he wasn't a particularly good shot, but he managed to hit two in the stomach. Diego had quickly rolled over to them and stabbed.
Vanya, shaken out of her fear, was wrestling for power with a woman holding a pistol. She didn't seem comfortable using her abilities, but she was doing just fine. She stood up, hair tussled and red-faced, and shot the woman through the forehead. Whirling around, Vanya aimed at another man with her gun and pulled the trigger.
Klaus was causing chaos, doing elaborate flips and generally confusing the enemy. Once they'd been righteously puzzled, Klaus would offer a magic trick and pull out a knife. At the moment, he had just kicked a man in the balls and pierced his throat with the knife. Allison was assisting him, throwing them off by spreading her Rumors; two where firing bullets off at their comrades and a third had walked out. Five was lazily teleporting around and dragging feet out from under them so Diego could better kill them.
"Stop!" Someone they didn't know screamed.
Everyone froze. Upstairs, Ben could hear sounds of struggling and prayed to God that Jordan was okay. He'd done well at Walmart; hopefully he'd have the same luck here.
"We don't want to fight," the voice said, and in stepped Jordan's trusted friend Billie.
"You," Luther hissed, raising his gun. Billie smiled, and with a jolt of shock Ben realized that her teeth looked like a vampires.
"I wouldn't do that, Number One." She moved forwards, and the lines of armed intruders stepped aside. As she walked, her blue eyes glimmered and flashed red.
What?
"And why not?" Luther aimed the gun at her chest, his face pale.
"Because I can help you," she said. "And I know you want some help."
"We don't need your help," Diego snarled. Ben dropped his sweater down over his chest, but he was ready to let the tentacles do shit if necessary.
She laughed lightly; Ben's stomach coiled as her face shook—her nose seemed to shrink, her eyes grow bigger, the spattering of freckles sink into her skin to leave behind an entirely new person.
"Oh, yes you do," she said. Even her voice was different. More delicate, airier, malicious.
Five gasped when her hair turned silver. "You," he hissed.
Billie—or whoever this new person was—laughed. She spread her arms wide and did a twirl.
"What do you think, Five? I finally figured out what I can do, and so did Park!"
"Five? Who is this? Who is Park?" Luther whispered harshly, his gun still aimed at Billie.
"Five!" She gasped and placed a hand over her heart in mock hurt. Diego slowly started to pick up another knife. "You didn't tell them about Park and I?"
"There was never any reason too," Five growled. His eyes where glinting dangerously.
"Ouch. Well, I suppose I'll just have to explain it," she grinned, her teeth unusually sharp. It made Ben's fists clench around the soft material of his sweater.
"See, way back when Five was about—oh, lets say, fifty-five? Yeah, right about then—he was assigned to the future. While there, he met me, and," she stepped aside and in stepped a small Asian person. Their hair was falling down to their ears in shiny black waves, and their face was set in stone. Their eyes sparkled pure black.
On their shoulder say the beautiful multi-colored butterfly.
"He met me and Park," she continued. Five was clenching his jaw and blinking back tears, his eyes frantically searching for a way to stop this.
"He discovered that Park and I had powers that could be incredibly useful to the Commission—I can shape-shift into anyone, and Park can use their butterflies to spy on people."
Park smiled happily and snapped their fingers; as if on cue, a second butterfly fluttered down the stairs and a third dropped down from the kitchen window. They landed on Park's other shoulder and top of their head.
"He brought us back to the Commission, and we where happy to sign the contract—we'd lived in the slums our whole life and were eager to start anew. But then, he left."
Billie's eyes sparkled red, turning into the color of spilt blood.
"He left. He went back to his own time to save the world. He altered everything. Our entire world is gone because of what you people are doing, and we only managed to get Park's sister. She's my girlfriend. Even as we stand here, the three of us start to fade away from existence." Billie stepped forwards, pulling a gun from one of her colleagues. "They're holding my girlfriend hostage until we get you to end the world," she sneered at Vanya.
"So, let's hurry this process up," Billie smirked.
Without warning, she fired at Vanya.
~
Everything was happening too fast.
First, Five had been kissing Jordan. Then guns. He'd left Jordan, and his siblings and him had kicked ass.
And then she'd shown up. Her and stupid Park.
Thankfully, she'd kept most of it quiet; even after what he'd done to them, she still respected him.
But right now, Five had to get everyone out.
Quick as he could, he tackled Luther and imagined his room.
"What the hell?" Luther yelled, hitting his head on the floor.
"Stay quiet!" Five hissed.
"Five, wait!" Luther scrambled to his feet. "We have to fight. We can't run forever."
"We can try," Five said and then he went back to Jordan's kitchen.
Bullets whizzed overhead as he grasped a screaming Allison and tugged her back to their childhood home, depositing her into Luther's arms and jumping back through space.
"Diego!" Five yelled, running for his brother. Billie and Park had disappeared, but his nerves where on fire. He ran into the table and screamed in pain as his arm bent.
Diego fell to the ground, kicked a mans legs out, and stabbed him quickly. "Get Klaus and Vanya!"
Five thought about it, and then Klaus ran past. He grabbed his arm and threw him to Allison through a portal. His head was throbbing in a dull, low pain as he returned to the fucked up kitchen.
Ben was standing over Vanya, eyes filled with tears as he frantically tried to stop the blood.
"You need us, Five!" Billie yelled over the chaos. "You need us!" A bullet narrowly missed Five, flying into the wall.
"I don't need anyone!" Five shouted. He grabbed the nearest weapon—a bloodied butter knife—and shoved it into someone's throat. They fell to their knees, and he kicked them over before running.
"Get Jordan!" Ben screamed. Diego ran over to them and killed a woman who had gotten to close.
Five nodded—in the chaos he'd almost forgotten about the upstairs—and spacial jumped himself up to the bathroom, where he could hopefully get a sneak attack on whoever was up there.
But there wasn't anyone to sneak attack.
Because all but two there where dead.
Five gaped at Jordan. His curls fell limp around his face, obviously damp, and beads of water formed on his forehead. He was grinning evilly, and Five's heart skipped a beat; it looked like the one he'd had in Walmart, when his mouth had been full of blood. His hands where held out in front of him, and his normally brown eyes had turned black. What was even more shocking, though, was the fact that he was very clearly drowning a man to death.
He was controlling water.
Jordan's head whirled to him and his eyes turned brown. His face paled to an almost sickly shade of white.
"You..." was all Five could muster. His head hurt like hell, and with the added shock of Jordan having powers, he felt even more illiterate than he'd felt trying to explain his emotions.
Jordan turned away and clenched his hands. Five watched in growing horror and admiration as the man drowned.
"We have to get out of here!" Five yelled; he had to get Jordan and then Vanya. He reached out and grabbed Jordan's hands—warm blood smeared over their palms. "Come with me!"
Jordan seemed to be in a daze and didn't protest; Five left him standing with Klaus, Allison, and Luther.
Not even checking to make sure the boy was okay, Jordan went back to the kitchen and smiled grimly.
Vanya wasn't going to die. Not today.
