For a moment, no one moved. Then, in a furry of movement, the Doctor stopped the TARDIS and lunged toward the TARDIS doors, heaving them open and then practically ripping the phone off the wall.
"Hello?' he asked breathlessly. "Amy?"
"Um..." came a defiantly male and not Amy voice. "No?"
"Hello, Rory," the Doctor sighed, trying his hardest not to sound disappointed. "You're alright then?"
"Er, yeah..."
"...."
"...."
"Rory..."
"Er, yes?"
"Where's Amy?"
"Oh, yes," Rory said, as if he had just remembered. "She's fine."
"... and?" the Doctor asked when Rory didn't continue.
"Uh..."
"Where is she!?"
"Oh," Rory said, again realizing what he missed. "She's... okay. I think those... aliens are mad at her, or something, and right now their... talking to her? Well their language is weird, but there is two translators so, yeah."
"What are the questioning her on?" John asked, making the Doctor jump. He hadn't realized John had come up to him.
"What are they questioning Amy on?" the Doctor repeated to the phone after John apologized.
"Um, I think their asking her how and why she got onto the... spaceship," Rory told the Doctor. "Also, why are we on a spaceship? And what are the aliens, and when can we go home?"
"Amy didn't tell you?" John asked him, and this time the Doctor was able to keep his surprise controlled. After a bit of silence, John corrected himself, remembering that Rory couldn't hear him."-er, Amy didn't tell him?"
"Amy didn't tell you?" the Doctor repeated for John.
"No," Rory answered. "Look, all I remember was touching a mailbox and then getting sent to... wherever this is. Then I... er.... fainted, I guess, and woke up here. I have no clue to what's going on."
"Right," the Doctor said, realizing that apparently Rory had lost his memory. "Well, you don't have to worry. John here will explain everything."
"I will?" John asked.
"He will?" Rory asked.
"Yep," the Doctor told the two of them, congratulating himself on his brilliance. "Meanwhile, I will be right there to sort things out, hopefully backed up by UNIT."
He gave the phone to John, who awkwardly started explaining to Rory what the unfortunate guy had missed. Then, the Doctor turned to Sherlock.
"I'll go with you," Sherlock told him before he could even asked. The Doctor grinned. He had never thought any of the humans could be as amazingly brilliant as he, but then Sherlock came along and proved him wrong. In an odd turn of events, the Doctor seemed to have taken a liking to Sherlock. Although, the man could do with a bit better conversation skills. Hey, maybe that's what John was for.
"Alrighty then," the Doctor told Sherlock. "Then let's go!"
Sherlock nodded, and headed toward the TARDIS doors. The Doctor followed him, waving cheerfully to John as he went by. John angrily ignored him, frustrated from being forced to stay behind and explain everything. The Doctor wasn't even sure if John knew exactly what is going on himself, but he trusted John to do his best, even if his best was terrible.
Sherlock and the Doctor left the TARDIS, walking down the hall in silence together. The Doctor walked hurriedly through the hallways, a bit like a excited small child would. Sherlock, however, rolled his eyes, a bit like an exasperated parent would. Eventually, though, he broke the silence.
"How did John really survive the disease?" Sherlock eventually asked the Doctor. The Doctor didn't slow down, but Sherlock noticed his stance stiffen, just slightly. Any other person wouldn't have noticed it, but Sherlock was not a normal person.
Perhaps the Doctor knew this, because the next thing he said was: "Sherlock, I'm really sorry, but I think John might be lying to you."
