[jordans house–monday morning]
"JORDIEE. JORDIEEEE."
Jordan blinked, yawning as he opened his eyes. Had Tate stayed over Sunday night? He didn't remember.
"Jordie!" Klaus screeched. Jordan's eyes flew open at the noise and—
He let out the loudest scream he'd ever released and rolled off the bed, his head thumping on the floor. "Owww."
"Sorry not sorry!" Klaus said happily, laughing as he fell backwards on the bed. He slid over so that his head angled off the mattress so he could smirk at Jordan upside down.
"Why?" Was all Jordan said. Then, rubbing his already-pounding head, he stumbled to his feet.
"Wowsa, Jordan," Klaus giggled. "Nice PJ's."
Jordan glanced down and finally registered the fact that he was in nothing but boxers.
Hot pink boxers.
"Fuck you, Klaus."
Klaus winked and sat up, skipping merrily out of the room. "School bus shows up in...thirty minutes!"
"How the hell do you know that?!"
Klaus just laughed; Jordan shrugged (he'd acknowledged now that Klaus was strange, but he was cool) and grabbed his clothes. He'd have to shower quickly.
He immediately walked into Vanya.
What the fuck.
"Uh..." Vanya looked everywhere but him. Probably because Jordan was still in his hot pink boxers.
He could feel his face heating up and he mumbled an apology to her—she was just as red as him—before sprinting to the bathroom. As he closed the door, he heard Diego say "Is Jordan in his boxers?" but then he was safe in the bathroom.
Jordan sighed and turned on the hot water.
~
Jordan wanted to die; he was totally gonna miss the bus, he only had five minutes and he'd only just gotten his shirt on, his bag wasn't around, hadn't even eaten breakfast, what the fuck was he doing–
"I packed you lu—oh my God!" Allison screamed and covered her eyes as Jordan yelled too. He'd been naked from the waist down.
"I am so, so sorry!" Allison said as Jordan tugged his boxers (these ones where black) up as quick as possible. Luther came running up the stairs, frowning and leaving when he saw there was no danger.
"It's fine!" Jordan snapped; he was already tired of Monday and he wasn't even at school yet. Two people had seen him in his underwear, he had a headache, and now Allison walked in on him with his dick out.
Fuck Monday's.
"I am so fucking sorry, I should've knocked, I'm so, so sorry—"
"Allison! It's okay. My pants are on now."
Allison hesitantly peeked out from between her fingers, and then handed him a brown paper bag. "We packed you a lunch."
"Uh...thanks?" He took it and put it next to his bag, shoving a few textbooks in it before putting the lunch bag in.
"Of course," Allison said, leaving his room. "Er, make sure you say bye to Five!"
Jordan watched her go, confused, but ignored it and started thinking about excuses for Tate. Then, he heard the beeping of the bus pulling up to his driveway and grabbed his bag. He sprinted the stairs, tripping on the last ones and almost hitting his head again.
He saw Five out of the corner of his eye, pulling on his ear and talking with Klaus, but he could see the yellow bus and fuck did he need to get in shape.
But he made it, panting and already sweating. Diane smiled calmly and Jordan went to the empty spot next to Tate.
They didn't speak for the entire bus ride; Tate only wordlessly passed him an inhaler. He didn't accept it back.
~{}~
The school day had passed by in an uneventful blur—except for when Billie had shown up in his English class and yelled at the teacher about Shakespeare, that'd been cool—and now he was on the bus, waiting for Tate.
His best friend since first grade had avoided him all day, talking to Nico and then to Billie and to literally everyone but him. It hurt more than he'd figured it would.
"Tate!" Diane smiled from her seat. "Not late today, huh?"
"No ma'am," Tate said, already walking to the back of the bus. "I'm a changed man."
Diane laughed.
Tate paused when he reached their seat and Jordan stared up at him. He had to sit down. He had to. He couldn't be that mad. He'd sit with him. Right?
Tate slid into the seat and glared straight ahead.
Jordan cleared his throat as the bus began to move. Tate didn't say anything; he pulled out a book instead.
"Tate, c'mon," he whispered. "You can't ignore me forever!"
Tate didn't say anything; he didn't even look.
"Tate. I'll explain everything to you! You can come over to my house, and I'll bake cookies and I'll tell you everything!" Jordan knew this was pathetic, but what else could he do? He needed Tate back. "Tate, please."
Tate closed his book and stared long and hard at him. "Who's Eddie?"
"Eddie? I don't know." Jordan said, wracking his brain for any Eddie he knew.
Oh. Yeah. He'd told them Five's name was Eddie. What the fuck?
"So...Eddie is made-up?" said Tate, archive an eyebrow.
"Yes! Yes, Eddies made up. I made him up." Jordan jumped on that excuse quicker than a cat, smiling from ear to ear. "Now, tell me about your date!"
Tate gave him a small smile and started talking.
Jordan felt so fucking relieved.
~
"See you tomorrow, boys!" Diane called as they got off the bus. They both waved and started down the driveway. Tate was adjusting the straps of his backpack the entire way, talking about Nico and how they had another date planned for Friday. They where going to dinner.
"So, Tate," Jordan said as he turned to face his best friend. They'd gotten to the porch and stood in front of the door; the air was humming with nerves from both boys, and a breeze had started to whip up. Jordan wondered if it was because of him.
"Jordie?" said Tate, smiling crookedly. "I promise I won't flip out again."
"Okay, good. I was gonna say that I'm not sure what they've been doing all day, so we should probably be prepared."
"For what exactly?"
Jordan paused, hand resting on the doorknob. Dramatically, he looked at Tate over his shoulder and smirked. "Who the fuck knows?"
He opened the door.
"What the fuck." Tate said.
"Oh my shitting Jesus," Jordan whispered.
"Uh...whoops?" Klaus winced.
Monday's suck, Jordan thought as he faced the absolute wreck that was his front entryway.
