amalia.

"YOU WANTED TO see me?" Selene raises an eyebrow the next day at Caroline. The older witch beams at her as she enters the room, but Selene doesn't even notice. Her eyes are fixed on long case sitting on the table in front of them. "What's that?"

"That's how I'm gonna teach you how to defend yourself," Caroline declares, opening the case to reveal a long sword. It has a black handle, and there are several markings etched into the blade. "This belonged to your grandmother a long time ago, and now it's yours."

"I can defend myself just fine," Selene points out, tilting her head to the side gently. "Why would I need a sword to do that?"

"This isn't just any sword, Selene," Caroline shakes her head, pulling it out of the case carefully. "It's your family sword. Only a Blackwood can use it, and its imbued with dark magic to ensure that."

"In what scenario would I need a sword?" Selene asks, confused as to why she would need it. She doesn't like weapons. They're the things that mundanes use to hunt supernaturals like her.

"What if you came upon a creature that you couldn't use your powers on?"

"That's not gonna happen."

"It could, actually," Caroline corrects her, offering the girl the butt of the sword. Selene gives Caroline an odd look before taking it, and as soon as her hand touches it, the etchings on the blade begin to glow. Selene gasps, an unknown feeling coming across her as she drops it.

"What the hell was that?" The redhead demands as the sword clatters in the hardwood floors.

"That was your body reacting to the sword," Caroline answers as the door behind Selene opens. She turns around, and bites down on her lip once she seems Dorian walk in. "What's he doing here?"

She turns to Caroline, upset she didn't tell her that he was gonna be here. Caroline shrugs, turning to Dorian. "He's the best fighter I know, so he's gonna help me train you."

Selene heaves a sigh, looking between them. "Do you guys really think me learning how to fight without my powers will help me in the long run?"

The pair nod in unison before she purses her lips. She then looks purely at Dorian. "Okay, fine. But no funny business. We can start tomorrow."

She winks at them before she struts out of the room. Dorian smiles, looking at Caroline. "Isn't she stunning?"

"You know I love you, but she's never gonna fall for you, Dorian," Caroline shakes her head at him sadly. "She has two boyfriends. Besides, she's too good for you."

"That's why I like her."

Afterwards, Selene walks to the Spellman's house when a pit begins to form in her stomach. She looks around, and once she's sure that she's fine, she knows Sabrina has to be in trouble. She then checks her watch and realizes that Sabrina is already at the dance with Quinn.

So she changes her route, and takes a shortcut to Baxter High. When she gets there, she heads to the bathroom and after she makes sure the bathroom's empty, she uses a spell to change into a short black dress.

She then walks to the gym, where the dance is being held. She looks around for friends, and is relived when she spots Quinn and Sabrina slow dancing, perfectly fine. She then sees Harvey and Roz dancing together, and is shocked but happy for them. They deserve to be happy. She had heard they were going with Theo, so it doesn't take her very long to find him. He's standing by the punch table alone, looking out at the crowd of dancers happily.

His face lights up as Selene prances over to him, offering him her hand. "Hey, stranger. Wanna dance?"

"Of course," Theo beams, taking her hand and letting her lead him onto the dance floor. They sway silently for a while before Selene sighs.

"I'm sorry."

"For what?" Theo whispers, pulling away gently so he can see his best friend's sorrowful face.

"I know you, Roz, and Harvey have been going through a lot of stuff lately, but I haven't been here," Selene states, wishing there could be two of her so she could be there for her immortal and mortal friends all of the time. "And I'm sorry about that, but I'm gonna try to do better at that from now on. I promise."

"You don't have to be here for us all of the time," Theo insists, a genuine grin on his face. "Look, I know you and Sabrina were here at my basketball tryouts. You guys are the reason I made the team. You might not be here all the time, but you're always there for us when it matters."

Selene falls silent as she looks over and realizes that Quinn and Sabrina are gone. She looks around the gym before she pulls away from Theo. "I'll be right back."

She then leaves to go find Sabrina, and she gasps when she walks in on Quinn and Sabrina making out in the library. Not because it shocks her that they're making out, but because it's unlike Sabrina to kiss someone on the first date. But she's happy Sabrina's getting out of her shell a bit. The pair jump apart as they hear the door slam behind her, and both girls turn red once they see her.

Selene shifts uncomfortably, her eyes the size of saucers. "Uh- sorry. I thought you guys were in trouble or-"

She cuts off as she hears a low growl from behind a nearby bookshelf. It's dark in the library, so all three girls have to squint to see the dark figure in the shadows. But Selene's eyes widen once she sees the glowing eyes—she would know those eyes anywhere. They're the eyes of Nick's familiar, the one that almost killed her a few years ago. Her and Nick had banished the werewolf, but somehow, she's back. "Run!"

Sabrina and Quinn spring off the couch they'd been sitting on, and run as fast as they can towards the doors. Selene, on the other hand, stays put.

Quinn stops at the door, staring at her cousin like she's crazy. "What the hell are you doing?"

"I have to banish her," Selene yells as Amalia jumps out of the shadows, approaching her the way a predator does before zoning in on its pray.

"Her?" Sabrina yells, staring at the Blackwood girl fearfully. "You know what that thing is?"

"It's a long story," Selene shrugs, before using her powers to slam the doors shut, locking her in the library with Amalia. The werewolf then begins to run towards her, but she's too quick for the familiar. She closes her eyes, whispering the spell with ease. "Ergo draco maledicte ego invoco, tollere lux in carne haec nocte."

The werewolf's just about to scratch her as it disappears into thin air. She lets out a relived breathe before she walks out of the library. But when she does, she comes face to face with her upset best friend, worried cousin, and angry principal.

Ms.Wardwell glares at all three of them. "Miss Spellman. Miss Blackwood. Other Miss Blackwood, I presume. May I see you in my office?"

The trio follow her to the office quietly before Sabrina turns to Selene angrily. "We protect each other now. I could've helped you banish that thing."

"Old habits die hard," Selene counters as they reach Ms.Wardwell's office. Quinn, Sabrina, and Ms.Wardwell sit down as Selene paces the room, knowing she needs to call Nick to tell him about Amalia.

"Okay, so long story short, the werewolf's name is Amalia. She's Nick's familiar. She's been there for him at times when he didn't have anybody else. But then, she started getting possessive when he came to the Academy. She started stalking him. She got jealous when he hung out with anyone, even with his sister. Nick was scared he would hurt somebody, so he asked me to help him banish her. Of course, I helped him. We sent her to the forests of the Mountains of Madness. It's been years, so I just assumed she was gone for good. But that was her."

"My former High Priest at the Church of Shadows once had a familiar. A cougar," Ms.Wardwell exclaims, frowning at the memory. "She mauled the High Priest's wife and baby so badly, well, there was really nothing much left of them to bury. The familiar was infected, you see. Rabid with jealousy. Unfortunately, there is really only one solution. Forgive my cavalier language, but that bitch has to be put down."
