"It's here, it's here, it's here!" Exclaimed cheerfully a blue haired girl as she ran downstairs to take her precious package
"Why are you so excited about, Saiko-chan?" Asked Mutsuki, laughing softly at the bluenette's antics
"My precious 'Call of Duty' for my Xbox is here!" She chirped, taking out the game
"Your... what...?" Mutsuki asked confused
"This game is a real banger, Mutsi! You should come try it out with me!" Said Saiko, as the mentioned male politely declined. "Your loss" Saiko shrugged it off and ran upstairs in her room

"I just need to log in my Discord account and I'm done" Saiko muttered as she was turning the TV screen on
Saiko played the game for hours, completing missions or playing with random teams
Until...
"Who the hell is meme_lord.69?" She asked confused, laughing at the weird choice of name
"I think I am" said a female's voice as Saiko flinched. "I guess you forgot the mic on"
"I-I guess I did" Saiko awkwardly chuckled, blushing in embarrassment
"Still, you're laughing about my username, but yours is its_me_ya_meme_girl" the girl from the other line sassed
"I'm an alive meme, meme lord" Saiko mocked as the girl just chuckled
"You really are something new. All of the other teammates I played with were only noobs and boring as fuck. I'm glad that I can play with a professional. Add me on Discord and let's play more"
Saiko did as told and the following weeks she played with the mysterious girl
No one ever complemented Saiko for her knowledge in video games or her ability to quote vines and that made her very happy
To know that someone really appreciated her for her true self it made her more than happy
She admitted to herself that she liked the mysterious girl, not for her looks, but for her true nature
Until one night, when you were playing Call of Duty again, she decided to make the first step...

"Yo, meme lord" she said, trying to keep her cool. "We've been friends for a while... right?"
"Yup" the girl said
"Can I... I mean, can I see the real you? Like, you know, do you have any social medias?"
"Sure, I'll give you my instagram" she replied as Saiko could feel she was going to cloud nine
Time skip
One hour later
After the two of you finished playing and exchanged instagram accounts, Saiko couldn't help herself and started to look over your profile to see how you really look like in real life
And her heart was beating faster when she saw one picture of you, smiling brightly at the camera
Your [H/L], [H/C] hair became undone in the photo as your [E/C] orbs shined so brightly with a big smile plastered on your face
Embarrassed as hell, Saiko started to roll in her bed, even squeaking at how cute you were
And without realising it, she liked the photo
And when she realised what she did, her heart skipped a beat
"HOLY MOTHER OF HELL!" Saiko yelled when she saw that the picture was posted last year
"Oi, Saiko!" Called Shirazu from the other side as he knocked on the door. "Why the hell are you yelling?"
But Saiko didn't reply, instead, she hid under the blanket, muttering something like:
"I'm a shellfish, a mussel. I wanna die right now"
Shirazu just groaned frustrated and left before Saiko turned the situation into a tantrum
Until Saiko's phone screen lightened up the room, making her flinch
She opened the phone and saw a notification from you
"Shit" she muttered
But her soul left her body when she saw that you liked every photo she had on her profile
"WHAT A GREAT TIME TO BE ALIVE! CAN I GET AN AMEN?!" She exclaimed cheerfully, literally jumping out of bed
"Shut the hell up, you bipolar midget!" Shirazu shouted at her
Usually, Saiko would chase him in the whole house for that, but she was too occupied with being happy, so she just ignored it

Two months later
"Wassup, Saiko-chan" your voice was heard from the other line
In these two months, you two got to know each other better and eventually learned a lot about each other
Saiko Yonebayashi was 20 years old and a ghoul investigator and not the most hard working one, but that was one of the few things that made her special
[F/N] [L/N] was 18 years old and a simple college student at the Kamii University and a really hard working one
"I'm just a simple college student that you can find anywhere" she would say
"Eh, not too much" Replied Saiko, clearly tired. "I just got back from work, but tomorrow is the squad's day off, finally" she groaned
She told you that she was a ghoul investigator, but Saiko couldn't tell you more than this, even if she wanted to...
She trusted you with all of her being since the day she asked you about your favourite sweets and started blabbering about a lot of cake recipes, making her mouth to water and the fact you shared a lot of your personal contact info, such as your name, phone number, social medias
"So... Saiko-chan..." you said, clearing your throat. "If you don't have plans for tomorrow... can we... can we see each other? I really want to see you in real life"
Saiko's face looked like a tomato after you literally asked her out, without loosing that much of your cool
"YES! I mean, yeah, sure" replied Saiko as you just giggled softly
"Alright, there's a coffee shop in the 13th ward called :re. How does that sound?"
"Great! I'm gonna see you there!"
You were both flustered as hell as you tried your hardest to concentrate on the game, earning some complaints from your teammates
Time skip
The next day
Saiko was waiting for you in front of :re, more nervous than ever as her heart was beating ten times faster, especially when she heard someone call her name
"Saiko-chan!" Your voice echoed in the street as you ran to her and waved your hand
"There she is" Saiko thought, looking at you. "She's even prettier in real life"
"Wassup, meme girl" you greeted her as she snapped back to reality
"You're tall as fuck" said Saiko, looking at you in disbelief because of the height difference between you two
"Thanks, I guess?" You awkwardly chuckled as she facepalmed mentally
The day went by really fast and when it was time for you to return home, Saiko insisted to walk with you to the bus station
"I had a really great time today, Saiko-chan" you said while walking as Saiko stuffed another petit four in her mouth
"I don't remember the last time since I had so much fun with someone" she said, flashing a soft smile as you took a bite of the sugary treat
"We should hang out more often like this" you said, smiling brightly at her
The same smile in that photo... so bright and beautiful... it made Saiko flustered as hell
"H-hey, [Y/N]-chan?" Called Saiko as you hummed in response. "I need to tell you something--"
But she stopped when she noticed that you took a wrong turn and went on a dark alleyway and reached a dead end
It smelled like a feeding ground for ghouls to Saiko...
"Shit! I don't even have my quinque with me!" Thought Saiko, freaking out mentally when a strong smell of a pure male ghoul pierced her nasal cavity. "And I can't use my Qs powers either and I'll scare [Y/N]-chan...! What will she think about me, then?!"
"Oi, you blue midget, don't you know that this is my feeding ground?" The ghoul's deep voice came out of the darkness as you could feel chills travelling down your spine. "Go and find yourself another"
"What the hell are you talking about?!" You shouted as Saiko flinched
"You brought this chick here so you could tear her limb by limb... feel her hot blood running down your fingers... Ah... I must admit it, she does smell divine and since you are on my grounds, what about we share her?"
"You sick bastard!" Saiko yelled as her left eye turned into a kakugan. "[Y/N]-chan is not a meal! What about you eat my hits?!"
In an instant, on Saiko's lower back, a huge rinkaku kagune grew and with other three tentacles at the tip of it
You were terrified as hell as you tried to say something, but made no sound
You weren't afraid of Saiko, you were afraid of what could that ghoul do to her since to the height difference between the two of them
You just stood back, doing nothing as Saiko had her arms extended in front of you in a protective manner
The male ghoul had a neon green bikaku, forked at the end as it swirled around his leg, his face covered by a mask that had drawn a smiling face on it
"I see now" the ghoul spoke up. "You're not a ghoul at all, but you still smell like one. You're one of those Quinx freaks, ain't ya? Those humans that fight with the powers of our kind. Man, just how sick is the CCG?"
But the ghoul didn't care anymore... his kagune came for Saiko at an inhuman speed as she wrapped her kagune around the ghoul's
Without hesitation, Saiko raised him up in mid air and slammed him on the cold concrete as he started to grunt in pain like a dying animal
"[Y/N]-chan, are you alright?!" Saiko shouted, turning her head at you as you just shook your head up and down, still processing what just happened
Until...
"Saiko-chan, watch out!!" You yelled, making her turn her attention back to the ghoul that was dying a few seconds ago
But it wasn't enough... still, the kagune pierced Saiko's torso, slamming her against a wall as she threw up blood
"The dove landed a good hit on me" the ghoul praised as he slowly got up. "But I'll deal with her later. Now, let's see... what should I do with you--"
"Shut the hell up" you said in a threatening tone as you ran to the ghoul
In a blink of an eye, you got out of your coat's pockets two knives and stabbed the ghoul once in the neck and once in the heart...
And he fell flat on his back, giving up on life as Saiko watched the whole thing in shock
"Saiko-chan!" You yelled, running to her. "Are you alright?!"
"I-I'm fine" she replied as you helped her get up. "How the hell did that happen?"
"It doesn't matter now!" You exclaimed. "We need to get you to a hospital!"
"There's no need, [Y/N]-chan" Saiko softly chuckled. "I'm a Quinx, after all. I'll regenerate in no time"
"Then, let me walk you to your house! Please, I can't leave you like this..."
"You're way too nice, [Y/N]-chan. But I guess I have no choice. C'mon, I'll show you where I live"

And you two walked, having Saiko's hands wrapped around your arm until you stopped in front of a house-- no, in front of a goddamn mansion
"How many families live in here?" You asked as Saiko giggled
"Only one" she explained. "The Quinx family"
"Don't tell me that you and your whole squad live in here" you deadpanned as she opened the front door
"Yep, we do"
"Holy shit" you muttered
"Saiko-chan, what happened to you?!" A male with white hair and black roots panicked when he saw the bluenette beaten up and her white coat stained in blood
"Just a ghoul that messed with the wrong investigator" you replied instead of Saiko as the male looked a little confused at you. "I'm [F/N] [L/N], nice to meet you" you introduced yourself, extending your hand to the male that flashed you a warm smile
"Sasaki Haise, nice to meet you" he introduced himself as he shook your hand

Saiko eventually made you change your mind and you stayed at the Chateau over night after you treated her wounds as she explained what the Quinx Squad is
"Hey, [Y/N]-chan?" Spoke up Saiko as you two were playing on your game consoles. "How did you... kill that guy? Those aren't some ordinary knives... right?"
"Well..." you started. "I don't know who my parents are... I lived with my big brother for my entire life and he was a ghoul investigator like you..."
"Was?" Muttered Saiko
"He was killed last year on an important mission..." you explained as Saiko gasped, covering her mouth with her hands. "Those knives... just like you said, they're not ordinary knives... those were his quinque, Scorpion 1/56, made out of a bikaku kagune"
"You do know a lot about ghouls and investigators" Saiko said after a small moment of silence
"He used to train and teach me a lot about that stuff, because he thought that I'll be a great ghoul investigator one day, but... I never wanted to do such things... I'm just a simple college student that you can find anywhere"
"You do know that using an uncertified quinque comes with big consequences... right?"
"I do" you sighed, looking away. "But I couldn't just stay and watch how that ghoul tried to kill you... I don't want to lose important people from my life anymore"
Saiko's eyes widened in shock as you two blushed madly when she took your hands in hers
"That's why, I want you to take the credit, Saiko-chan" you said as she wanted to say something in protest. "Please... if you want to protect me, do it..."
"Only because I like you" she said, puffing her cheeks
"Wait... WHAT?!" You exclaimed shocked as Saiko snapped back to reality
"AH!! I'm so sorry!! I didn't mean it like that!" She nervously waved her hands in protest
"Oh..." you said after you calmed down
And then, an awkward silence fell in the room...
"I did mean it..." Saiko confessed as her face was as red as a tomato. "You're an awesome person, [Y/N]-chan... No one ever complemented Saiko for her knowledge in video games or her ability to quote vines and that makes her very happy" she continued while talking in the third person about herself. "To know that someone really appreciated her for her true self it makes her more than happy"
"You're talking about yourself in the third person?" You chuckled softly
"It's just Saiko's anxiety"
"Well, to be honest... I thought that I was straight, but... I guess you proved me wrong. I really like you, Saiko-chan"
Saiko's heart and mind were like a ticking bomb that was about to explode after you just confessed
You have mutual feelings for each other, isn't it great?
So now, what?
"[Y-Y/N]-chan..." Saiko whispered, but it was enough for you to hear it. "Can I... Can I kiss you?"
You didn't reply... instead, you turned your head to completely face her as she looked in your eyes
Leaning down slowly, you both closed your eyes until your lips met into a soft and shy kiss as Saiko's hands went behind your neck
Pulling away to breathe, Saiko was panting heavily as you had a smug smirk on your face
"It's you, my meme girl" you said out of the blue as Saiko started to giggle
"It's me, ya meme girl" she said, making you giggle like an idiot. "And you're my meme lord, a.k.a. my girlfriend"
"So... it's official?" You asked as Saiko just hummed in response
You didn't know when you fell asleep in each other's embrace until you woke up in the morning
You woke up a lot earlier than Saiko, but you were thankful for it... it meant you had more time to admire her beauty as you traced invisible, soft lines on her lower back with your finger

When Saiko woke up
You were in the kitchen with the rest of the squad, sipping on coffee as you introduced yourself to the others and vice versa
Even that edgelord called Urie introduced himself
Until Saiko came into the kitchen and ran to you, hugging you tightly
"I'll let it slip only this time, but if any of you fuckers touch my girlfriend, I'll kill you. I'm talking about you, Shiragin" said Saiko as the others flinched a little
"So, you two are a thing?" Asked Shirazu as you two just hummed in response
"We are the ultimate gamer couple" said Saiko cheerfully
"It was love at the first game" you sassed as Saiko smiled brightly at you
Yup, it wasn't love at first sight...
It was love at the first game...
