(Y/N)'s POV:
After the discussion with Tsunade, the four of us left her office and were now standing outside the Kage building. Kakashi stayed with Tsunade to discuss a few more things. I didn't really ask what they wanted to talk about, however... I can't say I wasn't curious. I now know how intriguing Naruto's eavesdropping idea was haha.
"(Y/N), I'm sorry about what you heard yesterday night, we were only concerned. Though I'm glad you're staying a part of our team." Sakura says while shaking my hand. "Thank you, Sakura. I look forward to working with you." I look towards Sai, "same to you Sai; it seems we will have more adventures together!" Of course, Sai gives me his usual smile; which he needs to work on haha, " I sense another troublemaker has joined this team." Well... that's true haha.
"So what do we do now?" I ask. I don't know what to do to pass the time around here yet. "I don't know about you guys, but I'm meeting up with Ino. So I'll see you guys later!" Sakura is out of the plan. "I have some work to do, and I feel a headache coming my way if I stay with you two alone." Sai is out! He is as honest as ever.
"Do you... have plans Naruto?" I really hope he doesn't. Now that it's just us, I was hoping I could repay him for what he has done for me. "Nope. But if you do it's all cool. I'll just go have lunch." Perfect! "I don't! Uh, since you're hungry, how about we go to Ichiraku and get some extra large bowls? My treat!" There is no way Naruto will say no to that! It's the perfect way to thank him. "Eh?! Seriously (Y/N)? Yes! Sure! Let's go! But what's the occasion?" We start walking towards our lunch. "Oh well, I just wanted to-"
"Yo Naruto! I see you're back!" Augh! How is this DogBreath always showing up at the important times! And this time he has a whole group with him... "Kiba! Ya, we got here this morning. It was such an easy mission! Right (Y/N)?" Oh, I'm included in this conversation. "Ah, ya. Easy peasy." That was lame (Y/N)...
"Haha right. Well, how about you come with us. We are going for some BBQ. We can celebrate your survival on your first mission with Crazy here." He did not just call me crazy. "What did you just call me DogBreath?" The group with him was shocked by my openness with my insult to him, since I'm new and all. They don't know me.
"I called you crazy. I think it fits you perfectly haha." I would love to wipe that smile off his face. "Whether it fits or not is not important. What's important is the fact that you don't get to call me that." We are now standing head to head. Why am I always arguing with this idiot! His sizeable white dog standing next to him doesn't make me comfortable to go all out on him.
"Ok enough. Are we going to eat or not?" This is a new person. He has his black hair tied up... even though the ponytail looks spiky... Mmmm cool hairstyle. His mood doesn't seem good though? "Yo Shikamaru! Haven't seen you in ages! Where have you been?" Naruto seems to be very close to this Shikamaru guy.
"I've been here and there. Now, are you coming or not? This is starting to be a drag." Drag? You guys stopped for like five minutes... "ah, sorry guys. But I'm going to eat with (Y/N)." Eh?! He actually turned them down? "Then just get (Y/N)? I'm sure she won't mind some yummy BBQ!" A fat guy with spirals on his cheeks answered. "I-I don't know." I'm guessing Naruto isn't used to saying no haha.
"N-Naruto-Kun, it will be fun. And (Y-Y/N)-Chan can m-meet everyone?" Of course, the princess wants Naruto to join. She can't even face me. Man up and just confess to him if you're so in love! Damn. She annoys me! "What do you think (Y/N)? Do you want to join everyone or prefer to just stick to our plan?" I guess I'll repay him later. Hell if I'm letting this little princess have Naruto to herself! "Sure Naruto. We can go for some BBQ with them. I promised you Ramen, so it's really up to you haha." Hah! This way, she stopped him from having his favorite food. "Aaaah! You guys owe me! I was going to have some great Ramen! And (Y/N) was paying!"
I just realized something... why am I so bothered if Princess Hinata gets Naruto to herself? She likes him. Wouldn't that be good? I really don't want her to confess... augh whatever!
On our way there, Kiba makes jokes about how Naruto and I were headed to our little lunch date. It was stupid honestly. He should have seen his teammate's expression. Hinata looked very worried and sad about his jokes. Don't worry Princess... it wasn't a date. Stupid DogBreath.
We arrive at the restaurant. It's the same one that I walked out from, that was the night that made my friendship with Naruto stronger and closer. Let's see if they have good food. We sit in a booth. It fits six people, three on each side. In the middle of the table is a grill... that is so cool!! We are going to be cooking our own meat! And... we argued a bit about the seating.
"I am NOT sitting next to DogBreath!" I enter to sit at the end of the booth. Naruto sits on the other side in front of me, like last time. "Well same here! Who wants to sit next to a crazy person!" Shikamaru didn't seem the type of person to enjoy delays. "Enough both of you! This is how we will sit. And no changes!" He pushes Fatso; who is named Chōji, next to me and Kiba next to him. While on the other side... he sat Hinata next to Naruto... and he sat next to her.
"(Y/N)-Chan, you are going to love this place! The meat is so tasty it will leave you drooling!" Choji seems to be social haha. He directly started a conversation with me. "I guess I'll ask for your guidance on what to order!" That made him happy haha.
"Ah (Y/N)! I didn't introduce everyone." Haha, Naruto gets excited on the most random things. "Ok you already met DogBreath, his name is Inuzuka Kiba! Those red marking on his face are the Inuzuka markings! They deal with dogs! That's why he always has Akamaru next to him." I guess there is something cool about that guy.
"On his team is Hinata and another guy called Shino... that guy deals with bugs. It so skin-crawling to look at!!" I could see some goosebumps on Naruto's arms as he talks about Shino. "So Hyūga Hinata is their third member, you've seen her but didn't really get introduced. She's really nice but super shy! Haha! She could use a few crazy lessons from you!" Oh, very funny Naruto!
"What? So the idiot can call you crazy but not me?" Kiba interrupts Naruto's introductions. "Don't compare yourself to Naruto, DogBreath. You will lose! Naruto is special." I say without thinking. I realize what I said when I see a light blush on Naruto's cheeks and a shocked expression on the princess. It's not like I lied... Naruto is special. "Ahem! Anyway, Naruto, continue."
"Ah r-right. The food expert next to you is Akimichi Chōji; the Akamichi clan is special, the more they eat, the more powerful they are! So he gets away with eating everything!" How cool is that!! "And last but not least, the bored looking guy there. Nara Shikamaru. He may look spaced out most of the time, but he is actually exceptionally smart! He just finds everything a drag." Hahaha, that's a different way to live life.
After all the introductions, the food arrived, and we started grilling and eating. Choji was right!! This meat is delicious!! It's divine!! "So Naruto. How was your mission?" Kiba asks. "It was so boring at first, (Y/N) and I tried changing the mission, but Tsunade-Baachan wouldn't budge. It was almost like a walk... till these black-coated ninjas came out of nowhere!!"
Naruto went on to explain how our mission went. He made it sound like an action movie haha. He would look at me and tell me to confirm what he is saying. It was funny to watch. "Although the coolest part of the mission was (Y/N)!" Huh? "Eh? Me? What are you talking about it?"
"You guys should have seen her! She made the entire team stand back, and she single-handedly beat around twenty guys! It was so cool!" N-Naruto is praising me... too much. "How did she do that?" Choji asks. "In the coolest way, I've ever seen!" I-It wasn't that cool... I look up at Naruto; it is seriously too cute how he gets excited when he talks, how his eyes gleam, making them look brighter than they already are. He is definitely different.
"She used a Fireball Jutsu! But it was so big; she took out all twenty ninjas at the same time! Not a single scratch on her! You guys should have seriously seen her!" As I was staring at Naruto... yes I was staring. I catch Hinata in the corner of my eye. She has a smile on her face while looking at Naruto talk about my attack, but that doesn't seem like a happy smile. She doesn't realize I'm looking at her or that I caught her looking at me since I'm not making it obvious. Naruto wants me to get along with Hinata... sorry Naruto, I don't think the Princess likes me so much. Although I did find it weird how once my Jutsu was mentioned, Shikamaru looked at me, a light shock expression is shown on his face.
"Damn Naruto, I haven't seen you talk about someone this much since Sasuke!" Kiba's words get my attention. He just said something significant. "S-Shut up Kiba! You would have said the same thing if you saw her! And don't bring the Teme into this!" Teme? Is that code for Sasuke? Maybe I can ask Naruto about it later. For now, let's enjoy the food.
After we finished our lunch, everyone heads their own way after saying our goodbyes. Of course, Kiba couldn't help but to sneak in a joke or a tease about Naruto and me, Shikamaru directly walked away after his goodbye. I think he had enough of Kiba for one day haha. Choji told me that we should go out to eat together again. Apparently, he enjoyed the fact that a girl can eat and not care about the quantity! And last, Hinata... "N-Naruto-kun, Sakura told me you h-hurt your hand yesterday. Are you ok?" He's fine, thank you. "Ah Ya! Don't worry; it's all good!" He shows her his hand; I still find it weird how it healed in mere minutes... how?
"T-That's good. I-I'm glad. You always s-seemed to heal fast. It's b-because of that, right?" Because of what? She looks at me as she finishes her sentence. She obviously can see how confused I am about what she said. "Uh... yea. You know how it is. It's fine; I'm used to it." What are they talking about...?
She smiles towards Naruto one last time before she leaves and sends me a mini smirk. She just smirked at me! Did she just show off that she knows something about Naruto that I don't?! Ugh!! Don't feel so special princess!! I'll figure it soon, and you won't be so special anymore! She might not have any guts to confess to Naruto, but I guess she has enough courage to show me up!
Naruto and I walk around the village for a bit, talking about random things. I don't want to go home yet... I think about going back, to be alone today... I don't think I'm ready to be left alone to my thoughts just yet. It might be a bit too much to ask of Naruto... but just for this time, I'll take advantage of his kindness. Sorry, Naruto.
"Hey Naruto, do you want to go to your house?" I say it as normal as possible. However, Naruto still found it surprising. He stopped in his tracks and looked at me with wide eyes. "M-My house? Y-You want to come to mine?" I mean I knew it was weird to ask suddenly, but is it really that weird?
"Uhh... yea. If that's ok with you? I don't really want to go home just yet, and I don't want to keep dragging you around the village..." My fingers intertwine, and my thumbs start playing around. "AH! Y-YA!! I'm ok with it! Of course! I'm sure we will find something to do there! Though I have to warn you... it's probably messy..." He rubs the back of his neck and gives off a sheepish smile.
A few minutes later, we arrive at his house. The location is pretty cool. He even has a balcony; I bet he could see a good amount of the village from there. Once we enter his apartment, I see what he meant by messy haha. "Damn Uzumaki, ever heard of a garbage bag?" I tease him a bit since he was so nervous about it before.
"S-Shut up ok! I don't have time for that. Just sit somewhere or whatever, I'll clean it up now with a garbage bag!" Emphasizing on the last two words. Hahaha! He's so fun to tease. I look around his apartment while he cleans up.
Surprisingly, his apartment is much smaller than mine. All he has is his bed by the window, and a kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen and bedroom? Are open to each other. I guess you could say the living room and bedroom are one place. Next to his bed, there's a bedside table. On it, I see a picture frame. Is that a picture of Naruto?
When I pick up the frame, I recognize the kids in it directly. Well, almost all the kids. This was probably a picture of team 7 when it was formed. So young haha. Kakashi-Sensei hasn't changed a single bit haha. Still with the mask and that sarcastic smile. This might sound mean, but Sakura looked a lot girlier back then... haha. She seemed like a sweet little girl. And then there's little Naruto. He doesn't look happy in the picture, haha, but he has really grown... I wonder what he was so angry about.
"Are you snooping around?" I instinctively hid the frame behind my back fast when I faced Naruto. "Snooping? Me? Uh... no?" Why am I hiding it? It's not like I was doing something wrong, I think? "Haha, it's fine. You don't need to hide it." Damn it. I bring back the frame but kept it in my hands and kept looking at it. "You were so young haha. How old were you?" I look at him, and he smiles and sits on the bed.
"I was about twelve years old back then. Wow! I can't believe four years have passed." A twelve-year-old Naruto. I would have liked to see that haha. Has he changed at all over the years? "C-Can I ask more?" If this is the original team 7, then that black haired boy must be the real third member, the one Naruto and Sakura don't like talking about. "Sure! But you better sit. Knowing you, you're going to ask a lot of questions, and you'll get tired standing the entire time." I fake a pout at how he figured out my curiosity, but I take his offer and sit next to him. "Ask away!"
"Why are you angry in the picture?" I'll leave the other question for later. About the boy. "That's because of the Teme. He was so annoying! Always getting on my nerves! I thought when we get put in teams, I won't have to deal with him anymore, but we got teamed up together haha. Fate works in mysterious ways!" Teme? That's what he called that Sasuke guy. Is that Sasuke?
"So... that boy. Is he Sasuke?" Even though Naruto was smiling while looking at the picture still in my hands, his smile seemed sad. "Ya. That's the third member of Team 7. Uchiha Sasuke." Uchiha... I've heard that family name before. I heard they were a powerful clan. I wonder where they are now? "Is he... gone?" I couldn't say the word. "Ya... it was three years ago. We teamed up for a year before he was gone." No wonder the topic was hard on them. They lost a teammate. It's not easy.
"I know you said he got on your nerves but were you close?" I feel bad making Naruto talk about this, but I really want to know more about how Naruto was. "To me, Sasuke... was the closest friend I had. Even though I'm friends with everyone, and probably get along with them better than I did with Sasuke. But Sasuke was different. He never saw me as a 'demon' as everyone did. He didn't care about what the villagers had to say about me. He did his own judgment. He saw me for who I really am." Aaaaah! Why did he have to go!! I would have loved to meet this Sasuke guy! He is an angel not to treat Naruto like everyone did.
"He sounds special..." what else can I say? "He is! He was really smart (Y/N)! The top of our class! In both studies and training!! It was so annoying! I didn't care about studies, but him beating me in training! Augh! And he used to have such a smug face! Like he is so much better than everyone else!" Haha! Hearing how Naruto talks about this Sasuke guy; I can see how close they were. How special he was to Naruto. "But he was better than everyone else." I state the obvious to lighten the mood.
"I KNOW! That's why it was more annoying!!" He flops back on the bed. When I look back at him, he seemed lost in thought. Maybe losing his teammate and best friend still affects him... "are you ok?" I couldn't help but ask and make sure. "Ya... it's just... thinking how things used to be and how they are now... it's a bit saddening." Sadness doesn't suit Naruto. At all. He should always smile. "It's ok to be sad Naruto. I'm sure it wasn't easy for anyone." I try to comfort him.
"You're right haha. I lost a best friend, but Sakura lost... the person she loved. Even though I confessed to her a million times haha... she still has Sasuke in her heart." What...? Wait! Ouch! My chest hurts...
"Y-You... like Sakura?" The question came out before I realized. How did I not see this?! Why does it hurt me so much! "Ya haha! Everyone says we don't suit each other, but I still find her really pretty! That Teme didn't look at her for a second! Even though everyone knew she liked him!" Really pretty? Sakura?
"So... even though she still likes Sasuke... you still like her?" Why am I dragging this out? I want to close this subject! I don't want to hear Naruto talk about Sakura that way. "Ya haha. One day she will see that I've always been there for her and she will fall for me haha. I hope." Shut up. Stop talking.
"Right haha... I-I think I should go." I don't want to be here anymore. "Eh? Why?" Because hearing you talk about Sakura like a lovestruck child is hurting me and I don't know why! As if I'll tell him that. "I'm pushing it too much haha. Crashing your place and snooping and making you talk about your best friends and unrequited love. I should just let you rest." I stand up to leave, but he grabs my wrist before I could move.
"Stay!!" Huh? "I mean, I don't mind you staying or asking. I like talking to you (Y/N)!" He likes talking to me. But he likes Sakura. I shouldn't overthink about it. They are two different things. "You wanted to go eat lunch together, but things happened. So how about dinner?" Don't give me the puppy dog eyes. They are hard to resist!
I ended up staying... stupid Naruto. You are going to cause me heart problems! We went to a convenience store, we got a couple of cup Ramen and went back to his apartment. As he was heating up some water in the kettle, he asked me a question, "say (Y/N)? Why did you want to pay for lunch? You even insisted on paying now." Like I said, I wanted to repay him. "I wanted to repay you. You've done so much for me since I got here. So I just wanted to do something to thank you for it."
"Haha! You didn't have to buy five extra cups! You're a friend and a teammate now!" Friend haha... let it go (Y/N)! "Haha! I Know. I still wanted to." We sat on the table, and we ate our Ramen. He really knows which kind is the tastiest! I think he is passing his Ramen obsession on to me.
I learned a lot of things today. I found out who Sasuke is, and what he meant and who he was. I confirmed the Princess' feelings for Naruto and that she most likely doesn't like me very much. One thing I didn't want to learn was... Naruto's feelings. I would have preferred not to know his feelings for Sakura... I can't believe it's Sakura! Why!? Then a thought came to me as my head hit my pillow that surprised me more than any information I got tonight.
