Thank you so much m00000007 for the amazing cover above^^^^ I love it!
My heart couldn't stop beating fast and loud.
Blake squeezed my hand in comfort as I nodded at him.
"Here's it." George said, as he stared at the computer screen.
I gulped.
Here I was along with George and Blake, watching the CCTV footage of Jasmine's front door's camera of the day she got murdered.
George didn't question anything, as he just arranged the footage, which was like a year old.
"Play it." I said, swallowing the lump in my throat.
George started the video.
I saw Jasmine entering her house through the front door.
I saw her mom and dad leaving the house.
I saw George leave the house as well, as I stole a look from George who was beside me.
He looked in...pain. He regretted leaving I guess.
If he hadn't left the house, leaving Jasmine alone, maybe she wouldn't have...
I paused the video footage, as I turned to look at George.
Giving him a side hug, I reassured him that it wasn't his fault.
I pulled away sitting back on my chair, as Blake resumed the footage.
In the next few moments, nothing happened. No one came.
But, after a while, James came.
I fucking knew it!
He rang the doorbell, but I guess no one answered, so he tried to open the door.
The door was unlocked, as James got in.
I paused the video.
"How can someone be so irresponsible, George? Who leaves the fucking front door open?" I could'nt help but ask George.
"Jasmine was in the house, why would I lock it?" He asked, quietly.
I sighed, before playing the video.
In the next few moments, James quickly got out of the house, and went away, never looking back.
And after that, Jasmine's mom arrived as I closed the video.
James was the last person who met Jasmine.
"Why were you so interested in watching this?" George asked me.
What do I say?
George thinks Jasmine committed suicide.
"Uh, I wanted to know who Jasmine met at last." I said, facepalming myself internally.
"Why?"
"Because, she thought that maybe she was the last person who met Jasmine, you know. Xandra just wanted to be sure, Isn't it?" Blake said, and I hurriedly nodded.
George wasn't convinced, as he was about to say something but couldn't, when my phone rang.
Looking at my phone's screen, I realised Ryder was calling.
This means he did his work.
"Blake, I think we should get going, my mom's calling." I said, showing Blake my phone's screen.
Blake nodded, standing up.
I did the same, as I pulled George in for a hug, before pulling away and bidding goodbyes.
$$$$
"He wasn't lying. All the reports are correct." Ryder said, taking a seat in the back seat.
Chase sat next to him.
I nodded, trying to join dots.
James was the last person who met Jasmine, he might've killed her.
For some odd reason, I still don't think James is the culprit, even if all the evidences are against him.
I sighed, closing my eyes and trying to relax.
A memory flashed in my head.
"I really love you, Xandra." James said, as I tried to walk away from him.
He grabbed my arm, stopping me.
"A few months ago, you said the same about Jasmine." I said, snatching my arm away from his grip.
I started walking away, only to notice James catching up with me.
"Trust me. I love you. Really." He said, as I rolled my eyes.
"I don't want you to love me." I said, though I knew I was lying.
I knew I was slowly falling for the grey eyed bad boy.
Even though, I knew this was wrong. I can't love my best friend's culprit.
This is so so wrong, but all of this is just a part of revenge.
Tyler didn't know that I was falling for James, I don't know what he'd do, if he ever found out.
I had to stop my feelings before it was too late. But as long as the plan goes right, I am ready to sacrifice my love.
Besides, people love Xandra, not the other way around.
After this whole revenge thing, everything will be normal. Just without Jasmine.
"Please give me a chance Xandra, please?" He asked me, his eyes pleading.
From the corner of my left eye, I noticed Tyler standing not too far, watching us intently.
He silently nodded at me.
I'll...have to do it.
"Fine. One chance is all I give you. You have a time period of one month, try to make me fall in love with you, or else get your heart broken." I said, walking away.
I sat straight up, looking around.
Everything was normal.
I was in my car, Blake was driving and the other two were talking about thier non funny jokes.
The car stopped, as Blake said that we reached my house.
I thanked him, telling him that I was grateful for everything he did for me.
"That's what friends are for." He said, smiling a little at me.
I nodded.
I was about to get out along with Blake when my phone rang.
George was calling.
I looked at Blake, who encouraged me to pick the call.
I sighed, before picking the call.
"Hey George."
"Hey. There's something I think you should know."
"Oh? What is it?"
"Some parts from the footage are missing."
"What?"
Blake mouthed me to put the phone on speaker, as I did.
"I mean, there is a missing three hours from the footage. Someone got it deleted. I just asked the mechanic."
I looked at Blake, who mouthed me 'who?'
"By any chance, do you know who deleted it?"
"No. I asked the mechanic, and he said, that he didn't remember who it was."
"Oh. Thank you George."
"Yeah. Bye."
I hung up.
Looking at Blake, I knew he was thinking the same thing which I was thinking.
Maybe, just maybe James did not murder Jasmine.
