Klarissa's POV

I sat at the desk, drawing. Lily and I had been friends for almost two weeks now, and the more I got to know her, the more I liked her.

We had plans to meet up on the weekend at the local mall, and I was looking forward to it.

I had always loved drawing. It was one of my few talents. As soon as I put pencil to paper I could draw stroke after stroke until all the scribbles and lines joined together to form whatever it was I had decided to draw.

However; being good at it didn't mean that I never stuffed up. I made many mistakes with my drawing and sometimes they looked nothing like I intended. But drawing and art was my passion, so I never gave up on my hobby.

I was having one of those days when I just couldn't draw. None of my strokes made any sense, and my page was just scribble.

Maybe I was drawing the wrong thing.

I scrunched up my page, throwing it in the rubbish bin.

I started to sketch the outline of a face and body, and it wasn't long before it turned into a drawing of a familiar person I had been spending a lot of time with lately. I was proud of myself for managing to capture everything breathtaking about Lily in a drawing.

"Dinner's ready," Karly, my 14-year-old sister who I share a tiny bedroom with said, walking in to our room and grabbing her water bottle from our desk. She was one of my closest siblings, apart from my twin brother, Kalvin.

"Wow. That's such a good drawing," she said, staring at it.

"It looks like that girl you've been hanging out with a lot lately," she said. I blushed.

"It's not meant to be," I said. "But thanks. I'm pretty proud of it,"

"You should be," She said, before turning around and walking out of our room; her short, blonde ponytail bopping behind her.

I put my drawing in the drawer of the desk that was mine, and followed her out.

We lined up at the island bench in the kitchen for mum to pass our meals over. We always lined up in order from the youngest to the oldest. Mum had a very organised way of doing many things around the house. She was a primary school teacher, so she was good at organisation.

At the front of the line was my youngest sibling, Kacey. She was 6.
Then was Kandyce, 8.
Kate, 10.
Kamila, 12.
Karly, 14.
Then me & Kalvin, 16.

Poor Kalvin. He was always the odd one out between all the girls. Mum and dad also had some strange obsession with the letter K.

Being born five minutes after Kalvin, I was always the last to receive my meal.

When I was handed mine, I sat down between Kalvin and Kate. They were both already eating. Tonight's meal was green chicken curry with rice. Mum was the best cook, and it proved to be delicious as usual.

Meal time was always quiet, with the occasional conversation around the table. Mum's strict rule was no arguing at the dinner table. We argued a lot, so that was always hard.

"That's my cup. It has Dora on it. It's been mine since I was a baby," Kacey said, as she and Kandyce fought over the cup that mum had given Kandyce.

"Right. This is Kandy's cup, Kacey," Dad said, standing up to take the cup out of both of their hands before it spilled.

"This one," dad grabbed the cup that had been poured for Kacey and sat it closer to her. "Is yours,"

"But I want that one," Kacey said, pointing to the cup that Kandyce was now drinking out of.

"We can't get everything we want in life, Kacey," dad said, turning it into a lesson.

"Give me that cup!" Kacey said to Kandyce. Then she proceeded to pull on Kandyce's blonde braid.

Kandyce screamed in pain.

Dad grabbed Kacey's arm, moving her to a small, isolated table in the corner of the dining room that was for her when she was being a pain in the ass.

I rolled my eyes. I had to put up with this every day. It was hell.
