I stepped out the shower, wondering why this boy had decided to help me. No one ever bothered before. Not my mum, dad, brothers, friends, ex friends, no one.
I'd been on the street for around a week maybe, in that time I hadnt showered, or eaten properly. Just kind of sat in that alley alone, sometimes getting beaten up by people I didnt know for money I didnt have.
Life sucks.
Then he found me, and did more in about an hour than anyone has ever done my entire life. I still need his name but Im just feeling so bad right now that I dont ever feel like striking up conversation.
I look around, remembering that he told me where everything was. I brushed my teeth and washed my face, coughing at the unfamiliar taste of mint. I used so much mouthwash just because I didnt feel clean. I did after a while.
I looked in his closet, and picked out a Baseball shirt with a white front and black sleeves, with white stars on each arm, some black skinny jeans and just random socks and underwear.
I then moved onto my hair, quickly blowdrying it upwards, no product needed. It wasnt perfect but it was clean. I looked so much better, and its weird what a little cleaning can do to freshen your mood. Dont get me wrong though, I was still emotionally shattered.
Only minutes afterwards, the lilac haired boy strolled through the front door and smiled at me as I stood awkwardly at the bottom of the stairs.
"Hey, feeling better?"
I just nodded, looking at the floor.
"I realised that I forgot to introduce myself, Im Michael, but Mikey or Mike will do aswell."
Michael suited him well.
After a long pause, he spoke up. "Hungry?"
I nodded quickly, half smiling.
"Okay," He chuckled, bringing out some Chicken Nuggets and fries, with a strawberry milkshake. This boy knows how to impress someone. He directed me to the couch where he turned on the TV, picking something that I happened to like.
I could barely wait to dig into my food, and finished in no time at all. I frowned but tried to hide it, I was still so hungry, I hadnt eaten in ages.
Michael looked over, and a smirk crept onto his face. What was funny?
"Second helping of nuggets mate?" He laughed handing them to me.
I smiled. It felt real. What was going on? I scoffed them down just as he had finished his meal.
He then pulled out some Ben and Jerrys in three different flavours. "Ice cream and movies?"
I gasped and reached forward for a tub, but it was pulled away. I frowned.
"First lets bandage you up, kay?"
I hung my head and nodded, my days were always ruined by this.... problem...addiction, whatever you wanna call it. It always got in the way.
Mike sat me down on the toilet lid as he just stared at my cuts for about a minute, not moving. Then, he moved his finger to point to the word I had carved in earlier.
"This," He hovered above it. "this is NOT a bad thing. This isnt a life wrecker, this isnt wrong. You are who you are."
"No one else is gay, though. Im a freak," I mumbled, the first real sentence I had said in a while.
"I am, Luke." I gasped at Michael. Really? "And Im not bothered by what people say because deep down I know its all complete bull, and I am allowed to be who I want."
I just nodded and sighed.
"No more of this, I mean it." He spoke authoratively yet kindly. I nodded again.
"Now," He chirped. "Lets go get us some ice cream!"
