There are no words that exist, no phrase, no rhyme

That can express the feelings that you stir within my mind

This life is fleeting, my heart that's beating is truly all I've got

I give you my friendship and try not to burden you with every lonely thought

I walk along with death hand in hand visiting it day after day

So do not take it lightly as you know that I mean what I say

I long for you to understand just how much I truly care

The thought of you growing old with another is too much for me to bare

To live on, with my heart unfulfilled is beyond being cruel

So I pray that I'm given the chance to prove I'm not a fool

So as I trudge through a menagerie of thoughts so melancholy

I find myself willing to be the next victim of loves folly

Authors note:
The title is an nod to Wilfred Owens poem "Dulce et decorum est". The final lines of that poem Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori that Owen refers to as the (old lie) translates: It is sweet and fitting to die for ones country. The title hints that it is a sweet and fitting thing to die for love.
