When I woke up, Taehyung was gone.
I felt incredibly lonely.
I rolled over to my back, staring at the ceiling.
Taehyung and Seokjin...
They both... Love me?
But...why? How?
I frowned, shaking my head.
That doesn't matter, dummy.
How do I feel?
I took a deep breath.
I feel...
Like shit.
I heard my front door open, sitting straight up.
I scrambled to my feet to check it out.
I peeked out, slightly opening my bedroom door.
Hoseok was giving Melissa quite the kiss.
I looked away blushing, feeling intrusive.
When he left the apartment, I left my room.
"How are you feeling?" I asked.
Melissa's cheeks were still flushed from her kiss, a satisfied smile on her lips. "Oh, me? I'm great." She grinned before frowning at me, "You should really start locking the door, Josephine."
"Taehyung must've forgot to do it," I murmured half to myself, walking over to bolt the door.
"Where did he go?" She asked, settling into the couch with her casted arm propped up.
"I don't know." I sighed, joining her.
"Hobi told me what happened in the waiting room..." Melissa frowned, "I didn't realize they were all so close, Jo. It's tearing them all up to see two of their brothers be so cold to each other."
I buried my face in my couch cushion.
Great.
Melissa continued. "Apparently, Taehyung called Jin out, saying that Jin was in love with you. And Jin didn't deny it."
I felt like my heart stopped.
So it is true...
"I told you it was obvious," Melissa went on as if she heard my thoughts, "but anyway, Taehyung got really upset and demanded to know if you loved him too. But Jin said no, that your affections were with Taehyung not with him. Taehyung called him a liar and said that he couldn't trust a hyung that would fall for a woman he loved."
My heart sank.
I'm a horrible person...
"Jin said he would prove that you were safe around him. That Taehyung could trust that you didn't feel the same way as Jin did." Melissa said.
So that's why Seokjin walked us out.
I lifted my head. "What did you tell Hoseok?"
Melissa smiled, wryly. "I told him I was glad I only had to worry about one gorgeous man."
I sighed, feeling the tears well up in my eyes. "I didn't mean for this to happen. I just wanted to be away from home and to do something with my life."
Melissa patted my knee. "No one means to fall in love. But it happens." She tapped the tip of my nose, "So, what are you going to do about it?"
I racked my brain, rubbing the tears away from my eyes. "I'm not going to see either of them. I can't..." I took a deep breath, "I can't be the reason two close friends are at odds with one another. I'll just remove myself from the situation."
Melissa sighed. "What is that going to do, Josephine? They already both love the same woman. They can't go back and undo that. You'll be hurting everyone that way, including yourself."
I bit my lip, "What am I supposed to do, then? Adopt polygamy? That'd be fun to talk to both of them about."
Melissa shook her head, laughing, "How do you feel, Jo? Where does your heart lie?"
I blinked, trying to hold back my tears again, "I just... Don't know."
Melissa sighed, giving me a comforting smile, "Well, sweetie, that's something you need to figure out."
I groaned.
Why does life have to be so hard?
Why does love have to be so complicated?
I could almost hear my dad's voice in the back of my mind.
Because nothing worth having is simple, and nothing worth keeping is ever easy.
Then, I did cry.
