☄️🍵☄️

Snowflakes of every size flitted around the air, whirling into spirals and figures while cold breeze froze roads and made rime on windows. Saturday's morning in the middle of December was chiller than ever, symbolizing that the winter has only started and that it was the end to heretofore warmer days.

It was still dark and quiet, snow falling behind the misty window when Taeil woke up. He didn't open his eyes, he just laid on bed with face in soft pillow reminding himself that he is not in the bed of his small olive-painted room but on the couch in Doyoung's room instead. He secretly inhaled nice scent coming from the pillow while thinking about him being there.

He wasn't sure why he agreed to come over but then he wouldn't even hesitate if one of his friends asked. And Doyoung is his friend and he's even more special so he didn't think twice before agreeing.

Taeil just felt weird and somehow scared.

Doyoung was like a mystery box which randomly appeared in front of his doors, waiting to be explored by someone. Taeil is sure he is able to open it although with a little bit of struggle but he hesitates, he isn't sure if he should—if he wants to open the box as if he was deep inside scared. Scared what he could find out, the big mystery and misery of Kim Doyoung. That the world isn't as colourful as he thought. That not everything is so easy and nice as he is thinking it is.

That Doyoung is so broken that even Taeil can't fix it.

Just the thought of it brought him to yesterday's night and he tensed. Was it real or did he dream all of it? It couldn't be a dream, right? The memory of Doyoung's silent cries sent shivers down his spine once again. He was curious but sad, really sad. What could make mute boy let out such a noise? It worried him so much that he decided to check on the boy lying across the room.

Taeil slowly opened one eye and then the second, blinking few times before acknowledging his surroundings and he almost screamed. Doyoung was lying in his bed, yes, but much closer to where Taeil was. The boy with dark hair laid less than a meter away on the same bed as him, facing the older.

Awaken boy slowly lifted himself and looked around confusingly. He tried to remember what happened yesterday and how did he end up on the bed instead of the uncomfortable couch.

Doyoung woke me up. Doyoung was having a nightmare. Doyoung cried in my shoulder. I fell asleep. I

Taeil slowly turned to look at the sleeping boy and sighed. He felt silly. While he was dreaming about who knows what, Doyoung had to bear with the boy sleeping on him and then carrying him so he himself could sleep.

Taeil was also nervous. He didn't know why nervous exactly, they were friends. Taeil didn't even know how many times he already said that in his mind as if he had to remind himself. It all was weird, so so weird and he hated himself for thinking that because Doyoung was just a boy who needed help and Taeil wanted to be the one who will help him. Then why does he do that?

He shook his head and lied back down on the soft and warm mattress of Doyoung's bed. However, even after couple of minutes he couldn't find himself fall asleep again so he decided to observe the room instead. Dimmed light of almost morning sky illuminated the room and gave him the chance to see things around him.

Eventually, his eyes fell on the boy in front of him. Doyoung looked so peaceful while sleeping, one of his hand under his chubby cheek and the other stretching out to the older boy. His eyes were closed and every muscle on his face was loosened up. Taeil has admitted it already but Doyoung was really handsome—from his doe-shaped eyes to his pinkish lips that were now slightly parted, showing his cute bunny teeth. He wondered what the boy could be possibly dreaming about and a sign of relief came over his body. After the tough night, he finally seemed relaxed and it made the older happy, so much happy he started smiling like a fool. As if he achieved something, or at least he hoped he was part of the reason.

Strand of dark hair fell into the younger's eye and Taeil immediately reached out to remove it as uncomfortable as it looked. It was a swift movie, yet he feared he woke him up so he held his breath and tried to look for any signs of Doyoung being awake. His breath was steady and his facial expression didn't change at all. Nevertheless, after a few seconds, his eyelashes fluttered and he opened his eyes and Taeil almost choked on his saliva. He quietly cleared his throat.

"G-good morning," Taeil said after Doyoung met his eyes. The boy sighed and closed his eyes again before turning his back at him.

Well okay then.

✈✈✈

While Doyoung was sleeping, Taeil decided to cook something for them. It was something after eight when he stood up, cleaned himself and went down to the kitchen to look for some ingredients. During the week he always made breakfast for him and his sister if his mother didn't have time so he was kind of confident in his cooking skills. However, he wasn't sure what the boy sleeping upstairs liked so he made fried eggs with some vegetables he found and camomile tea with honey, hoping it will be enough.

The food smelled incredibly good, he had to say, although it could be because of Taeil being hungry. Since he didn't burn anything and didn't add too much of honey into the tea, in his eyes, he succeeded.

At the other side of the house, Sun peaking with its rays through the curtains of the window woke up the boy wrapped in his warm blanket. He didn't want to but he knew he had to wake up. Besides, the nice smell coming from the kitchen dragged him out of the bed as hungry as he was. It confused him for a second when he remembered that his mom was somewhere in Busan—and just then the memory of Taeil hugging him yesterday quickly came into his mind. He shut his eyes and rubbed his eyes in frustration.

Stupid, stupid, stupid!

He let the past take over him once again and he hated the fact that Taeil saw all of it. It was supposed to be forgotten a long time ago, hidden behind tall massive walls in his deepest part of the mind. It wasn't supposed to come back just like that, he got over it already, or at least he thought so. He decided to start over, then why his mind isn't cooperating?

While Doyoung cursed internally, his legs led him to the stairs and he stopped. Open-plan designed downstairs gave the boy a chance to notice another person in the house, cooking what it looked like breakfast. The smell got even better and woke him up from his morning state although he still reminded of zombie while walking down the stairs. He didn't sit behind the table, as usual, he chose sideboard and sat on a black leather bar chair instead, silently, so the other boy didn't notice him.

Doyoung watched as Taeil took care of the food, served it with heart and detail, how he tasted his tea to find if it's drinkable already. The dark-haired boy had to admit that Taeil was precise, or just awesome cook and he himself was drowning in shame of only being able to make instant soup with an electric kettle. Or tea, he knew how to make tea for the number of cups he has made in his life.

When Taeil decided the food was ready, he turned to stairs and wanted to shout his friend's name when he noticed him sitting there already. He wasn't prepared to face the boy yet.

"Uh-oh good morning, again."

Taeil tried not to think about how awkward that was and gave the boy a sweet smile before putting the food in front of him. He didn't sit next to Doyoung though, instead, he stayed on the same place, facing the younger while eating his breakfast.

They ate in silence, really awkward one. Taeil had no idea what to say and well, Doyoung didn't want to say anything because he couldn't. Both of them thought about the previous night, scared what the other is thinking. Taeil was scared that Doyoung is uncomfortable after the events of yesterday and Doyoung is scared that—he wasn't sure why exactly. Because of what Taeil saw or perhaps heard?

He was scared that Taeil was scared of him. How ironic.

After too long breakfast of them staring everywhere but the other, Doyoung immediately stood up and cleaned the table, putting the dishes into the dishwasher.

"Doyoung?"

The boy heard his name being called softly from the living room and turned around to be met with Taeil standing in the middle of the room while playing with his hands nervously. They were shaking too obviously and Doyoung wanted to hold them to make them stop as it made him really anxious.

"It's about yesterday," Taeil started.

The dark-haired boy sighed before putting the wet dishtowel on its place and made his way to the living room, facing the older. His heart was about to jump out of his body, but he acted calmly.

"I don't want it- what happened yesterday to change us in any way. Only if in the good one. I understand, you were having a nightmare, a bad one, maybe something that triggers you and your.. psychical state," Taeil closed his eyes and mentally cringed at his words. "But it's okay. Please don't be ashamed or scared, it's- it's okay." He sighed and looked up to meet Doyoung's eyes.

"I understand. And I want to help."

He was so scared, so, so fucking scared and tried to hold in his tears. He didn't want to lose his precious friendship with the younger boy and it hurt him just thinking about it.

Doyoung took a few steps towards the boy, slowly and hesitantly. Taeil waited, he would wait for minutes, hours even days if it made the younger open up or just express his thoughts, feelings. He knew it was hard and he understood.

The mute didn't do anything for the first few seconds and he could see a glimpse of hesitation in his eyes. Taeil saw Doyoung's arm slowly stretching out before he put it on his shoulder, then vane, and kept it on his back. Doyoung embraced him once again, so softly that Taeil himself had to enclose his arms around the younger's torso to pull him into a proper hug. This time it took more time but it made the older feel emotional and his eyes started tearing up.

He understood it perfectly. It was Doyoung's way to say thank you,

thank you for understanding, thank you for being here for me and trying to understand.

He felt Doyoung shaking again and hugged him even tighter, if possible. Neither of them was crying, but their emotions were exploding inside their hearts and both of them realized how important this moment was for both of them.

✈✈✈

Rest of the day was rather calm and relaxing, the morning forgotten but not erased from the mind. They watched some TV shows or Doyoung made his homework with a little bit of help from Taeil. He was feeling better, although he still took his medicine and the older looked after him properly like Doyoung's mom asked him to.

At five in the afternoon, a knock echoed the house with following clinking of keys and loud thump of the front doors. Doyoung's mom greeted them with a big smile and sloppy kiss on her son's forehead. Taeil immediately went upstairs to take his stuff while Mrs Kim blabbed about her trip and work. It was a chaotic night and she was happy to be back.

The good-bye was rushed, although Doyoung wanted to at least show his thankfulness to his friend again, but he didn't know how. His mom at the other hand hugged Taeil tightly and told him to come over again in the future.

"See you on Monday."

Taeil waved at him for the last time and gave him a big teethy smile. And Doyoung nodded at him back, as usual.

I also did some cute edits of Doil as boyfriends but I don't know where to put them xD maybe once this book has 10K reads (if that even happens haha) I'll do some special chapter or something
