Once, there were five women who were all best friends. They lived in a quiet neighborhood in Indiana where nothing interesting ever happened. Their names were Miranda Mason, Stacey Roget, Mickinella Davis, Ashley Stevenson, and Kimberly Peterson.

One day in early September, they all gave birth to a very unexpected child. You see, none of the friends had husbands or even boyfriends but they all wanted children so their sudden pregnancies seemed like a strange miracle. Miranda had a son and she named him Bryan. Stacey named her daughter Sheena, Mickinella named her son Nicholas, Ashley named her son, Benjamin and Kimberly named her little girl Kerstin. A year passed and as the children's hair began to grow in, their mothers noticed something peculiar about it--it was sky blue! This baffled the women and they decided to hold a meeting to discuss their children's strange characteristics.

They met at Miranda's house and she invited them in. After fixing something for all of them to snack on, they settled in her living room and began their discussion. "Have your children stopped eating the baby food the doctor recommended to use?" asked Stacey. The other women all nodded their heads in agreement. Ashley commented on how creepy it was that all of the children's eyes were a deep blood red. They discussed the mutations in their children's hair and eye color further but could come up with no explanations. So they decided to leave it alone.

The children flourished and grew, despite their apparent lack of appetite. One weekend many months later, Mickinella had to hire a nanny because she had to make a trip to Connecticut. Her grandfather was terribly ill and she didn't want Nicholas disturbing him. The nanny had just finished cleaning, when she saw Nicholas come crawling out through the living room and into the kitchen. She was surprised at first, but then decided to see what the toddler was after. She tiptoed to the kitchen door and opened it the tiniest crack--just enough for her to peek through. What she saw surprised her even more. Nicholas was in the broom closet hauling out the step-ladder. He placed it against the counter where she had placed some hamburger to thaw for her dinner. He climbed up and with lightning speed, tore the package open and began feasting of the raw meat.

The housekeeper gasped loudly. At the sound, Nicholas turned. They stared at each other and the boy seemed to get a strange gleam in his eye. Suddenly, the boy plucked a knife from the block by the stove and charged the startled woman. The housekeeper slammed the kitchen door shut as the knife rammed through the flimsy wood. Not knowing what else to do, she ran upstairs. After releasing the remains of her lunch into the toilet, she hurried around the house packing up everything that belonged to her. She left, leaving only a short note on the coffee table for Mickinella.

Mickinella returned home the next afternoon to find Nicholas sitting on the kitchen floor, innocently banging a pot and wooden spoon together. She picked him up and put him in his crib. She called for the nanny and when she got no response, searched the house and realized she had vanished. Mickinella plopped onto her lumpy sofa, wondering what had become of her housekeeper. She noticed a slip of paper lying on the table and picked it up to read:

     Dear Miss Davis,
Due to a terrifying experience with your child, I have packed my bags and left. I don't care to explain what has happened because I know that you simply will not believe me for an instant. I am terribly sorry about leaving on such short notice, but I simply cannot handle your child any longer.

Sincerely,

Maria A. Keplin

It wasn't long before Mickinella learned what had happened to Maria. She was preparing to cook dinner when Nicholas came crawling through the kitchen doorway as if his mother wasn't even there. He climbed up the stepladder and once again (to the astonishment of his mother) made a gruesome feast out of the raw pork chops.

Mickinella picked her baby up, trying to keep a cool head,  and rushed him to the hospital. All the way the only thing that she could think was, Oh my God! My baby is going to die! When she arrived at the emergency room, she gained quick admittance due to the urgency of the situation. The doctor called her to the examination room immediately. He looked Nicholas over but found nothing wrong with him.

"Ma'am, your son is perfectly fine. There is nothing I can do about it. As long as he is happy and healthy, I don't see anything wrong with it. All children have strange quirks," said the doctor with a phony smile. Mickinella argued with him some more but there was nothing left to do. On her way home, all she thought was, Children all have different quirks my butt! Spoken like a true quack doctor without a decent education!

Back at her home, she called a meeting with the other four. When they arrived, she instructed them to wait in the den. Then she went into the kitchen and took four baby bottles out of the top cupboard. She then pulled some raw hamburger from the refrigerator and drained the blood into the bottles. She returned to the den and instructed her friends to feed it to their children. They cried out in protest and refused to do it. "Fine!" she snapped. "They'll feed it to themselves!"

She took the children from their mothers and placed them on the floor. She then placed a bottle in front of each and their mothers watched in horror and revulsion as their children attacked the bottles with a vengeance. When it was all through, the children's mothers were too shocked to even pick their children up to be sure they were alright. "I wonder if their eyes will glow in the dark?" Stacey suddenly wondered as she stared at Sheena from across the room.
"I know how we can find out!" exclaimed Ashley. "We'll all sleep over at one of our houses tonight. Then we can find out how they've survived for so long and whether or not their eyes glow in the dark." They did a little planning and decided to sleep over at Kimberly's house that night.

At eight-o'clock, they all settled into Kimberly's living room. They tried to watch movies but they were all focused on the door to the den. Through this door was the only link to the kitchen. At about eleven-thirty, they shut the TV and the lights off. They crept into the den and hid in various places around the room. Before long, the big grandfather clock in the upstairs hall began to toll the hour of midnight. As the chimes ended, they heard the soft click of the nursery door shutting followed by the sound of tiny feet scurrying through the hall. The feet went down the stairs and then entered the den with the eyes of the children glowing a fiery red.

Ashley motioned for the other girls to follow her. She crept to the kitchen door and they went inside just in time to see the children fighting over raw meat from the refrigerator like a pack of wild dogs. Suddenly, Kimberly got an idea. She jumped up and turned on the light. This stunned the children into stillness, which was just long enough for Kimberly to grab them all and take them upstairs. She dumped the toys and blankets out of the crib and tipped it over upside-down over top of the children making a sort of cage. She walked back downstairs calmly and was about to tell her friends what she had done, when they heard a deafening crash followed by the squeal of children's laughter. They ran upstairs and discovered that the children had tipped the crib over onto its side and had jumped straight through the second story window! They rushed to the window, but the children were nowhere to be seen.

They stood there for a moment in stunned silence wondering what to do. Then Mickinella said, "We'll chase after them! They can't get too far on those short legs!" They raced outside with flashlights and Kimberly unlocked the gate, hoping her dog could help track the children. She came out and they set off in search of their evil children.

"Don't worry. If anyone can find them, Temperance can," exclaimed Kimberly enthusiastically. "I just hope we find them before they decide to go after live prey!"

The five friends searched everywhere that they could think of and allowed Temperance to go off by herself, but they couldn't find their children anywhere. They were about to give up, when they heard a low growl followed by a yelp of pain. They raced toward the sound knowing it must be Temperance.

They found the dog and the children. Bryan was crouched low, backed by the others. Their mouths gaped open to reveal grotesque mouths full of sharp teeth. He was about to attack the helpless dog again, but he and the other children ran off as soon as they saw their mothers. Temperance's wounds weren't too bad but they decided it would be better to take her home.

When they returned to Kimberly's house, they discussed what should be done. What are we going to do when we find the little boogers?" asked Stacey.
     "We'll have a baby-cue!" exclaimed Ashley sarcastically.
"Oh gross!" The rest of them retorted and they began to make vomiting sounds. They thought for a long time, finally deciding to set a trap. They took an old cargo net from Kimberly's tool shed and some rope. Then they went into the kitchen to find some bait and headed into the front yard. After placing the raw meat on the center of the net, Mickinella, Miranda, and Stacey hid behind the tree holding the rope where they waited for Ashley and Kimberly's signal to pull.

At around three o'clock in the morning, the two on watch finally gave the signal. The other three gave the rope a good sharp tug and the children found themselves high in the air, entangled in the net. The five friends kept the children tied in the net and they dragged them inside. After a long discussion, they decided they could not allow the demonic children to live. They took them to the old church boiler room, intending to burn them in the furnace.

As the net was opened, something went terribly wrong. Bryan lunged for his mother and bit down on her arm. The woman tried to shake him loose and in her frantic state, she tripped over a discarded box and fell into the furnace. She screamed loudly as the flames engulfed her. The other women were too stunned to move. As footsteps sounded on the stairs above, announcing that someone was coming to investigate the screams, the demon-children scrambled out the window, their sinister laughter echoing into the night.
