chaeyoung shoved her phone away abruptly when she heard the room of her door open. her mom didn't miss the sneaky action, shooting her daughter a strange look.
"what was that?"
"oh um, nothing."
her mom sighed. "that better not be some boy again chae. you know what your father and i think of them."
"they're distractions, i know." She mumbled, glancing at her empty worksheet. "you don't have to keep reminding me."
"i just don't want you getting distracted. especially with applying for colleges, we can't afford any of that. that wasn't a boy, was it?"
"mom, of course not." she lied, biting her lip.
"good. dinner will be ready in a bit."
"okay."
