it's like a power switch,
or a water tap,
and it's one that you can turn
on

off.
the light from the switch -
it's bright and strong,
golden and warm,
and i bask in it's light
even if it's artificial
and just another bright,
glowing lamp
that was sure to fizzle out,
but it was the light in my life.
i was sure i'd keep it on.
and then it goes out.
just one day,
it turns off suddenly
and i look to the switch,
the flip,
the button,
and i see your fingers,
your hand,
and your love.
it has turned off the light,
and i'm stuck
in the darkness.
