raindrops fell on their clothes and bodies, both of them getting drenched by the second. arisa ran, dragging tom by his hand, the couple laughing at the situation.
"tom, come on, we're both going to get sick," arisa had urged, slightly panicking once she realized that they weren't anywhere near to tom's place.
the couple had went out on a date, had a fun time, and since it was a beautiful night— key word was—, tom had insisted that they walked the rest of the way instead of hailing another cab— it wasn't that far, anyways.
however, neither of them had expected a downpour— but then again, maybe they should've checked the weather forecast beforehand.
"hey, hey, there's no need to rush," tom had said with a chuckle but arisa was not amused. "it's pouring, i look like a drowned rat, and we both have high chances of getting sick."
"we're not going to be sick— and weren't you the one who said that you've always wanted to walk in the rain?" arisa stared at tom with a blank face, as if she was saying really?
tom laughed at his girlfriend's expression, shaking his head. "alright, so maybe it was me and i agree, it's a little cliché but come on, it'll be fun."
arisa looked at tom as if she was weighing her options but sighed, finally nodding her head.
the couple were silent for a moment before a smirk appeared in tom's face, which did nothing but make arisa confused. "what're you thinking about? i'm getting kind of worried over here."
"why would you be worried? it's not as if i'm about to do something horrible," tom told her with a scoff but arisa rolled her eyes. "you might not be doing something horrible but you're kind of a danger hazard— do you know his accident prone you are?"
"oh, come on! have a little faith in me," tom whined. "alright, alright, what's your idea?" arisa crossed her arms, stepping back a little. tom stared at her for a moment before smiling, backing away as well.
"you can run into my arms, it's okay, don't be alarmed," tom sang, walking towards arisa— almost identical to how he had approached zendaya more than a year ago in a lip sync battle.
"oh, no. we are not doing this here and now," arisa told tom with wide eyes, moving backwards. "what, why not? you've always told me that you wanted to see me do this in person so now you are!"
"first of all, you're wearing fancy pants— not latex. those will rip apart and i'm not even kidding. and second, i was envisioning to see it in a preferably dry place and not in this type of situation, at all."
"you're getting the real deal, with actual rain. also, these are just pants and who said that i'm doing it alone?"
"absolutely not," arisa deadpanned but tom smirked. "you're doing it with me— don't even try to lie, i know you know the whole routine. i've seen you dance to it multiple times— and can i just say that you look significantly more amazing doing it than me?"
"nice try with the flattery but it's still a no, holland." tom groaned, pouting. "we're literally standing in the pouring rain and you're not even going to take the chance?" arisa shook her head, muttering a nope.
"i'll make you pancakes tomorrow," tom attempted to bribe her. "you and i both know that you're making me pancakes whether i do this with you or not," arisa laughed. tom was about to protest but was immediately cut off by his girlfriend.
"come into me, there's no distance in between our love," arisa sang while attempting to hide another laugh, bending slightly while running a hand up the side of her body, hoping that she didn't look like a crazed woman while doing so.
tom let out a grin before pulling arisa forward, both of them singing and dancing their hearts out while the rain fell on them but it seemed like none of them had cared much.
rather than doing a flip as the finale, tom twirled arisa around, the two breathing heavily while staring at each other. both caught their breaths, laughing while doing so.
tom and arisa were silent, attempting to stop their grins and wrap their heads around what had just happened.
"i'm pretty sure i scraped my knee," arisa finally spoke up in a jokingly serious manner, tom shaking his head. "that's the first thing you say after an epic dance routine? i'm quite disappointed in you," he teased.
arisa gave him a cheeky grin, winking as she did so. "you know you love me." tom laughed before nodding his head in agreement, wrapping his arms around her waist and spinning them around. after a yelp from arisa, tom set her down and kissing her temple.
"happy one year, darling."
yes, they did get sick and yes, tom did make them both pancakes in the morning but none of them could deny that it was one of the best nights they've ever had.
