Blue left the cave after telling Ash she would be right back. Her scanned the area, looking for a lower tree that she could cut from.
Once she located one, she sawed a decent amount of branches, taking them back with her.
She picked up a few rocks on the way as well. She placed all her materials into the cave and went back out to bring in some dirt.
She was making a small fire for them both, just until morning and then they'd be on their way to wherever.
She placed the rocks around the dirt and set up her sticks. She rubbed two more rocks together until it sparked and a fire started.
She scooted away and leaned against the wall, a little drained from her task.
Ashton ran over to her side, settling down in her lap, holding her tightly.
She rubbed his back and played with his hair until he fell asleep. And so did she not too long afterwards.

The Next Day

The brown eyed beauty yawned, her bones popping in protest. She looked down, feeling something heavy weighing on her stomach.
She rubbed his back, as a yawn left her lips once more. The little beam of sunshine came in through a hole in the back of the cave.
She brought him to the back of the cave. He stirred a little before going back to sleep. She walked quietly to the entrance.
She planned to try to find a nearby water source and food so they wouldn't have to stop too many times later.
She found and killed two rabbits, gathering more wood, dirt, and rocks while she was out.
She skinned them and cooked them, splitting it in half. One for me and one for him. After they ate, she watched over Ash as he went back to sleep.

1 week later

Me and Ashton moved to a new spot near a river. Right now I was with Ash, hunting for food. He wanted to come with me this time.
I killed 3 rabbits and we were making our way back to camp. It seems that there are lots of rabbits around here. I'm not complaining though, brings in more food for us.
I held Ashton's hand, swinging them back and forth until I heard growling and the sound of wood snapping.
Turning around, my eyes met angry scarlett ones. Ones that were eyeing the both of us down as if we were nuisances.
Unknown substances covered the creature. Fur matted with blood and other things, overgrown claws, and stained teeth. And then one by one, wolves started to surround us from all sides.
I pulled out my knives, pushing Ash in between my legs. One of them lunged at me, but i was able to dodge it by a hair.

We went back and forth until I was finally able to get the upper hand and stabbed it. I started killing them left and right until more of them started to replace the fallen ones.
There was no way we were- that I would make it.
I'll hold them off so Ash can at least add some distance between us and himself.
While their attention was solely on me, I nudged Ash, ushering for him to leave. He gripped my leg, deciding to climb up a tree instead.
While I was distracted, another wolf knocked me over, snapping its jaws in my face. I wheezed trying to get air in. My knees felt weak and my arms were heavy.

Saliva dripped onto my arms and face. The wolf ceased its snapping, choosing to growl harshly in my face.
I could sense the other wolves creeping closer. I squeezed my eyes shut, knowing that this would be the last moment of my life.
Screams tore through my throat as I felt my body being torn apart. Claws and teeth sinking wherever they can.
I could feel myself starting to get weaker, until my vision blurred before turning black all together.
Ashton's Pov
I heard her scream. I could see red colors flying before it all went quiet.
My head started to hurt, there was a lot of thumping and I can hear voices too.
"Save Mommy" they whispered.
Cole and Ryker's POV
I jumped down and went to the wolves. Save Mommy. I grabbed two of them by the tail and slung them into a tree.
Some looked up at me and growled. I snarled and ran towards them snatching them away from her. I think I hurt all of them because I don't hear them breathing anymore.
Ashton's Pov
I ran towards mommy and shook her. "Wake up."
I kept shaking her. "Please wake up."
There was so much red stuff coming out of her.
"HEEEEELLPPPP!" I screamed. I shoved my face into her chest and cried, clutching onto her shirt.
I heard hisses and looked up. Two big tall people with reddish brown hair and red eyes. They looked alike- one girl and one boy.
"What happened?"
"Wolves hurt my mommy." I sniffed. "Can you save her?"
The other one walked towards her and looked at her.
"She's still breathing but barely." she said.
The other one nodded and kneeled in front of me.
"What's your name?" he asked softly.
"Ashton."
"Well my name is Wesley and my sister's name is Rose."
I nodded. "Alright Ashton we're gonna take your mommy to the hospital, okay?"
The girl, Rose, walked over to me and tried to pick me up but I moved back. She squatted in front of me.
"I have to pick you up in order to take you to the hospital." she said. She opened her arms up and I hesitated before walking into her arms.
I only want mommy to hold me. The two voices said and after that I didn't hear them anymore.
She told me to close my eyes, so I did. When I opened my eyes we were in front of a building.
I squirmed in her grip and she set me down.
"Where's mommy?"
"She's getting help and when they finish, you'll be able to see her."
The man named Wesley came back and spoke to his sister.
"She's in a critical condition and she went into a coma." he said. She nodded and looked at me. A sad smile formed on her face.
"What's a coma?"
Wesley turned back to me.
"It's when you go to sleep for a long time."
"Come here" Ms. Rose told me.
I walked toward her. "We're gonna clean you up and then we can wait outside mommy's room."
I nodded and he grabbed my hand taking us away from the hospital.
