~Malia~

I didn't have to deal with Louis' insufferable presence long after lunch was over, thankfully he didn't follow me into every single class like he had in the morning and left me alone to think about what he was doing, although every time I passed him in the halls getting to my other classes, he would stare me down and wink at me.

I rolled my eyes every time he did and huffed out a breath of air, wondering what his motives were to be pursuing me so strongly. It just made me that much more aggravated when I realized I couldn't have him as much as I wanted him.

He was the exact definition of someone I couldn't get anywhere near, no matter how much I wanted to.

"You've got some explaining to do, girlfriend."

I laughed and playfully rolled my eyes at her exclamation and followed her outside to my new favorite spot on the picnic benches after school.

"What ever do you mean?"

Sighing, she pointed me with a look that told me not to play games with her.

"You know exactly what I mean. What's going on with you and Louis?"

"Well, you remember how I told you yesterday how he cornered me in the hallway and was basically just a huge dick to me?"

She nodded vigorously, already engrossed in the juicy drama our conversation was about to give her.

"Well, I think he's seriously Bipolar or something because one second he's all angry and serious and telling me he's onto me and asking me what I wanted from him and then the next he's following me to every class and sitting next to me like he's a lost puppy or something! I think I'm going to lose my mind. And its probably only because he knows he's never going to 'charm' me or whatever he does with everyone else."

Lizzy aptly stared at me wide eyed and I realized that I had started raising my voice in the middle of my little angry speech.

Thankfully no one around took too much notice, so I was in the clear on that one. Until I saw a Prince headed straight towards me.

"Well, I'd advise to do whatever you think will hurt you the least. I mean, after all that you've been through, you deserve to be happy. And if you don't think it will make you happy hanging out with him then cut him out, don't talk to him."

"That's a little hard, considering he's made it his life's mission to always be right beside me. Unless its just a prank!" I perked up in excitement, hoping that it was all just a sick joke.

"Well that would just be ridiculous. I mean come on, after all of the shit you've been through in your life you don't need to be treated-"

"All the shit she's been through? What, a crappy ex boyfriend?"

His words cut me to my core. He seriously only thought my freak outs were the result of a 'crappy' ex?

"You know, you really shouldn't eavesdrop on other people's conversations. It's incredibly rude," I reminded him, trying but failing to not stare at his impeccable body even though I'd seen it multiple times that day.

His viridescent eyes rolled around in his head and I could feel the heated anger begin to consume me. Who was he to try and pass judgements on my past experiences without even knowing what they were in the first place!

"It's second nature really. The castle always had this sort of echo..."

A smirk lit up his face and I could already feel the anger dissipating. That didn't stop the words that came out of my mouth next, however.

"You really have no business discussing things you have no knowledge of. You have no idea what I've been through or what has happened in my life. And if it's up to me, you never will."

His face was suddenly directly beside my cheek and my heartbeat went haywire yet again. The rushing in my ears flooded everything out besides him and my muscles tensed up in anticipation of what was about to happen, the tingles starting at the top of my head and traveling all the way down to my toes.

"Good thing its not up to you."

He pulled back suddenly, the smirk ever prominent, and as he turned his back to leave I finally regained my sense and my anger and I lunged forward to try and shove him but Lizzy's arms were around my shoulders firmly, stopping me from attacking the soon to be sovereign leader of the country I was officially a citizen of.

"Just one punch, I promise!"

Laughing, she let me go just in time for me to turn around and see her eyes rolling into the back of her head.

"Alright alright, get home before you get into even more trouble than you already are," she said through her snickers at my attitude.

"Yeah, yeah. See you tomorrow."

Walking away from one of my only friends at my new school, I found my thoughts drifting to Robert so I made a conscious effort to plaster a fake ass smile upon my face and fake it until I made it. That proved to be a bad idea, considering the person who was sitting in my black town car when I hopped in, smile on full blast.

"See, I knew you were happy to have me around you all day."

"What are you doing here? This is my car! Jeffrey, make him get out!" I screamed at my driver.

He looked like he was sweating bullets and terrified out of his mind.

"But ma'am, he is my Prince, I cannot-"

"Oh fine I'll do it! Prince Louis of Annoyingville, get out of my car before I kick you out!"

His jovial laughter filled the cramped air in the car all around me and I tensed up as a wave of hot desire shattered through my body. It dismayed me that he could do such things to my body without my permission even as he was severely pissing me off. Needless to say, that fake smile was long gone.

"And that is what I find so intriguing about you, Malia Spencer. You couldn't care less how royal I am, and I can't get enough of it. Now, if you worshipped at my feet, sought my approval like all of the other girls do, I might just leave you alone..."

The challenge was clear in his words, as it was in his eyes.

"You have got to be kidding me. You know I'll never bow down to your imposed power."

He drew close to my face, his sweet, minty breath fanning my eyelashes and I could barely breathe at his proximity.

"Precisely my point. Which means that you want me just as much as I want you, and-"

"Okay that's enough loverboy," I told him as steadily as I could, putting a finger against his searing lips that had drawn achingly close to my face, trying to put on the impression that he didn't have quite the effect that he wished upon me.

I glanced up at the driver and I could tell that he was looking at us curiously, and I hoped that he wouldn't tell my family about it, but why wouldn't he? They were the ones who signed his paychecks...

"Not in the slightest. I want to see where you live. Onward, Jeffrey!"

"No one says that," I told him, my mood dropping immensely. Obviously threats to kick him out of my car didn't work, and I was in no position to actually do just that, what with my crippled ribs that I still was on crutches for.

"So, I'd like to get to know a little more about you. This 'Robert' gentleman that caused such a rise out of you yesterday, what happened with him?"

I visibly tensed at hearing that name come out of his mouth, and if it weren't for the fact that he was the Prince of England, I would have slapped him right then and there for thinking that he had a right to know my personal business, to bring up a past so painful it felt like there was an atomic bomb exploding where my soul should have been.

My breath stuttered and I could feel the sting of his slaps across my cheeks, the pain of the glass bottle against my forehead. I could smell the leather from his boots as they kicked into my side repeatedly, never ending.

And then I tasted the blood, the sour, metallic, unmistakable taste of my life force draining out of me. The first time I tasted it, he had punched me in the eye and it started dripping down my face, slowly sliding down a slippery slope, over the curve of my nose and finally down onto the cupid's bow of my top lip.

I didn't know I was bleeding, so I absentmindedly licked my lips and that was when the taste exploded on my tongue, the scarlet liquid dousing my senses with confusion and finally disgust, the spittle that I vehemently expelled from my mouth painting the white laminate flooring with droplets of crimson blood.

"Hello?" a hand waved in front of my face and I was brought back to the car with Louis, his beautiful eyes and ugly personality.

"You don't get to say that name to me, not now, not ever. You do not have the right to ask me questions about my past when I know nothing of you other than your title and the fact that you are a stuck up, arrogant, rich ass playboy who gets off on watching others in pain. That's why you asked me that, isn't it? To see my reaction? When we get to my home, you will be escorted back to your palace, your majesty."

The animosity of which my words pelted him was decorated by a girl who didn't want to remember her past, who wanted to bury it into the very farthest recesses of her mind until it withered away and died.

His reaction was lackluster, not surprised but not angry either. He simply shrugged, put his arm around my shoulder and leaned back in his chair, as if I hadn't said anything at all.

I blew out a frustrated puff of air and turned my attention to the back of Jeffrey's half balding head, hoping to God that he would just leave when we got to my house, but I knew deep down that that was definitely never going to happen.
