49. Flashback
04/28/13
"You're awake" king mother exclaim smiling, she had been in the hospital for the past weeks, and he was finally awake
King looked around and squinted in confusion, "why we in the hospital ?" He asked.
"You don't remember?" His mother asked on concern
King tried to shake his head but everything was hurting him he couldn't even turn his neck " no. what happened?" He asked as he started to panic from seeing the different types of plugs that were plugged all over his chest.
"Everything's will be okay, please calm down," his mother told him forcefully trying to remain calm herself
"Why can't I feel my legs" he yelled in frustration, he was confused and his mind was blank, he couldn't remember the event that happened after leaving the mall with his uncle and father
"Okay. You, your uncle and your father were in a car accident and the car rolled over several of times and y'all got injured pretty badly "
"are they alright?" He questioned looking at her with mixed emotions
"Your fa-" she paused looking down and blinking several times and decided on taking a different approach "your uncle didn't make it"
King felt his heart clenched all of a sudden, he closed his eyes tightly breathing in and out to stay calm "where's dad? Can I see him?"
"No. No." His mom said holding him from sitting up "they won't let anyone see him yet, we have to wait"
"What you mean?,"
"too many questions that I don't know the answer to, just take a nap and I promise you'll get the answers later on " she whispered against his head as the nurse came and injected some medics into his iv and a few minutes later the medicine started kicking in, and he began to see blurry til all the images faded away and became pitch black.
"I can't- no you listen to me- I won't allow him to live with that" he heard his mom talking on the phone once he woke up from his 2 hour nap
" I don't care my son's life is on the line and you better fix this shit- before I " she stopped mid sentence once she turned around and seen king was awake, she walked to his bed and sat next to it "how are you feeling?"
"Alright. When can I go home?"
"In a couple of days, be patient." She sighed rubbing the bags under her eyes
He nodded and looked around seeing it was a bunch of balloons and cards in the room "who brought all these?"
"Scarlet, Davonte and Kai'jai had a couple of your friends sign them and some came to visit but you were sleep, so I told them to go home"
" oh" he said and stared into space for a second then look at his mom "why you ain't tell me we got shot"
" I didn't want to worry you"
"a heads up would have been nice you know" he chuckled taking the cover off of him seeing the covered plastic on his leg
" I know, I wanted to tell you but the doctors said to not stress you out it'll set back your recovery"
He touched his neck and winced slightly "it's just a grazed ?" He asked in shock he could have sworn he was shot in the neck and was going to die.
"Thank god. Anything else you would've been gone" His mom exclaimed with a small smile
King sighed and softly laid his head on the pillow and just stared at the ceiling " how's pops doing?"
"Better by the minute" She smiled down at him in reassurance " time will tell believe that. We're all going to be alright " she whispered as she laid a soft kiss on his forehead happy that he was alive
End of flashback

"Buford Estate" king let out as he stood in front of the tall building in a hoodie that reached down his face. For the past 10 minutes he's been trying to figure out how to get in the building without getting caught by the undercover security guard they had around the building
They were The least of his concern getting inside the building was the real challenge because the entrance was protected with a code making it impossible for king to get inside and get as much information as he can about the man who supposedly was responsible for the death of his uncle and father.
King stepped back from the building entranced and walked away around the back keeping his head down so the camera couldn't identify his face and got in the car where Kaijai, Davonte, and ghost was waiting for him
" ain't no way ima get in there without these niggas knowing" he informed them and once the car sped down the road away from the building he slid his hoodie off his head
"Nigga you act like we ain't never did a lick before, how many guards they got?" Davonte asked
"It's six niggas outside and two cocky ass nigga in the main entrance but them niggas ain't what I'm tripping about, I need the code"
"Ghost is working on it. But Check this out I can knock one of them out and buy some time for king but y'all need to have the code cause I ain't hitting no cocky ass nigga with no escape plan for I get my ass knocked out"
King nods his head agreeing with Davonte's plan and turned around looking in the back sit at ghost who sat in the back with his mini laptop on his lap
"you in their main system yet?" Ghost shook his head in frustration"nah. Every time I'm close they add more security or move the files, whoever behind this shit is one smart ass motherfucker"
"Keep trying I know they ass gon slip up," he said turning back around to sit properly when his phone vibrated he took it out and seen it was his mom
Momma 💕👑 - I just left Paris house. I didn't have time to give the medicine to her but I gave it to London to give it to her when she wakes up
King sighed and laid his head back on the seat it was the first time he left Paris side for more than 10 hours since what happened to her and it didn't sit right with him that it was only her and London in the house they at least needed two guards in front of the house just In case things go south

He sent her a text back and slid his phone back in his pocket
For the past few week king has been busy, if he wasn't in the trap interrogating Ariana and KIA then he'd be over at Paris house making sure She was hydrated and that she wasn't showing signs of internal bleeding after being poisoned.
It had turned out that Ariana didn't agree with Kia's choice on not killing king, so she took it upon herself to poison Paris with the intent to kill her so that king could be vulnerable and weak.
That day in the hospital When king met with The doctors they told him that Paris was lucky to even be alive because The type of poison that was used on her were enlarging her veins which caused her heart rate to slow down and made it hard for her to breath. If it wasn't for his mom she probably would have been dead.
" Oh shit! We're in" ghost exclaimed snapping king back to reality
"you for real?"King asked in shock, he was expecting it to take at least 5 hours not 5 minutes
Ghost clicked on the link and a bunch of files pop up on the screen, he click on one of the files that had 2013 written on it and waited for it to load
King scrunch up his face in confusion when he saw the date of the message and instantly knew these messages were from his father phone because his father was the only one who called him Eli and these were the moment before they went to the mall the day of the incident
After reading the last text king tried to scroll up for more when suddenly the image disappeared catching them off guard
"the fuck happened?" King exclaimed clicking on the files but everything automatically deleted by their self
" fuck! They kicked us out they system" ghost answered reaching back for the laptop and started typing trying to stop the files from deleting
" I know these niggas ain't this dumb to hack your dad phone" Kai'jai said finally contributing to the conversation
Davonte nodded agreeing with him"yeah. Something ain't right,"
"yea." King nodded spacing out thinking about that day and how there wasn't bad vibe everybody was smiling no one would have known that the inevitable was to come later on
"What's going on ghost? You got the code?" Devonte asked seeing king wasn't in the mood to talk. He knew it was bringing him back more memories that he didn't want to remember.
"Yeah write this down 072414jem" ghost told him, and he started wrote it down on a small piece of paper
"Okay. We got the code, we gon try it later on after I check up on My girl" king told them and they all nodded while Kai'jai took the highway and began to drive back to their house

When king came home he notice all the lights where off and London was sound asleep on the couch. He turned around and went upstairs and in his room instantly turned the lights on seeing Paris small frame sleeping under the covers
He walked up to the side of the bed and slowly sat down kicking his shoes off and leaned over her body and started planting soft kisses on her face
"mm" she groaned slowly raising her head up and then closed her eyes and laid her it back down on the pillow
" Wake up your ass up" he whispered against the crook of her neck.
" Elijah?" She asked reaching to touch his face and sighed "Hi baby" she gushed smiling hard
" How you feel?" He asked getting under the cover with her and wrap his arms around her
" I feel better now that your here" she whispered kissing his chest
An involuntary smile came on Kings face which went unnoticed by Paris
"oh for real?" King ask. She nodded and straddled his lap.
"How was your day" She wrapped her arms around his neck letting their forehead touch
"It was aight. I had to handle a few things and it had me a lil stress"he told her then kissed her on the cheeks
" I wanna make it better" She said with a suggestive look as she slowly started to grind on his lap, King groaned as his hands went on her hips stopping her.
He didn't know if it was the pills the doctors had her on that was messing with her hormones or the fact that they haven't had sex for two weeks straight that was causing Paris to be a lot horny lately and as much as he wanted her he didn't want to mess with the process of her recovery.
Paris huffed pouting a little then kissed him on his face "Why? You don't want me"
King pulled her back, so he could see the sad look on her face and leaned in to kiss her on the lips "I do want you baby"
She shook her head and at him "no you don't cause If you did you wouldn't be stopping me when you ain't stop that other hoe from sucking your dick"
King groaned wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her into him regretting that he had told her everything about what happened to him and Kia
" Come on now, I didn't let her do-"
"yes you did, the bitch had her lips on what's mine" she sighed laying her head on his chest out of breath " but it's okay cause you told me why you let it happened but don't let it happen no more cause I promise you I'll break every last expensive shit you got in this house"
"I hear ya baby." King said chuckling
"Mm" she closed her eyes listening to his heartbeat "you know for a while I wanted to ask you if everything is okay with you"
"Yeah. Why ?"
" I don't know Lately I've been getting this vibe that something's bothering and you won't say what it is."
"Ain't none wrong, trust me I'm good"
"Okay" she nodded. Paris didn't ask more questions, she didn't want to pressure him into telling her
" did You eat?" He asked softly rubbing his fingers softly over her hip bone
"yeah. Your mom had brought me some food and I spent an hour before vomiting it out" she shrugged
King felt bad that she couldn't eat anything beside liquid food, If she tried eating solid food she'll be running to the bathroom to vomit her soul out.
"I'm getting better" she sighed running her hands down his chest
"Yeah. You are"he agreed giving her a halfhearted smile and pulled her softly into a kiss
" I gotta go outta town for a while" he let her know as he kissed against her collar bone
Paris pulled away from him and frowned "Where are you going? How long is a while?"
" I ion know yet"he answered wrapping his arms around her body and held her in his arms, he hated to leave her In a condition like this, but he had to pay this man a visit and finally find out who killed his father and uncle, he's been waiting for this opportunity for far too long and wasn't going to miss out on it
Later on that night
" Alright, I'm finna run over the plan one last time, King you gon walk through the main building while Kai'jai and I are going to walk in after 5 minutes and take the east wing and meet you there then we get the USB to their main system and ghost is going to try to hack them and buy us more time. Carter you still could be our alibi right"
" yeah, y'all niggas got an hour" he told them before hanging up
" Ready boss ?" Ghost questioned looking up from the laptop. He was making sure that he still had control of all the cameras and that they were on paused till They were done.
"yea, Let's get this shit over with" king said loading the bullets in the gun, and then he rolled up the sleeve of his shirt a quarter way up and slid a small pocket knife in the side of his timbs
After getting ready He stepped out the car and walked up to the front gate where two guards stood guarding the building class doors, they did a double take when they seen king and instantly rested his hands on to the gun that was beside his waist
" You got an I'd ?" He questioned walking up to king
King started patting his pocket acting as if he was looking for his id, and he groaned pretending that he forgot " damn I think I left it in the car"
The second man scoffed and shook his head as if he was taking time off his job, king ignored him and look down at his watch
" I'm going to be late to that meeting with Mr. Buford" he mumbled under his breath hoping ghost was right about there being a meeting tonight
" Excise me sir did you just say meeting?" King just nodded at him without saying anything else letting him believe that
" You must be the young man that Mr Buford been waiting on" he exclaimed after staring at king for a while " go ahead and enter the code that was given to you" he told him pointing to the main entrance
" thank you" king thank him and walk up to the building entering the code and waited for the double doors to slide open, Once it did he stepped in and scanned around the place seeing there was a large desk and a woman sat behind it ready to greet the people who came in before him
He made it his goal to avoid her but before he could walk away with the small crowd of people that were walking away from her, she spotted him and smiled brightly " welcome to Buford estate, is this your first time visiting?"
King clenched his jaw a little her smile was irritating him. He didn't come to smile in these people face, he came to raise hell in this place but yet he had to play along and stick to the plan.
" Nah. I've been here a few times" he replied to her looking around waiting to see if Davonte and Kai'jai made it in
" it must've been when I was off or something cause I haven't seen-" king ignored her and walked away when he noticed Kai'jai and Davonte was standing by the back door on the east side of the building trying not to go noticed by the employees
Soon as they made eye contact king walked up to the elevator and waited for them to follow and once they did, they went in and stood far away from each other In case someone comes in
"What y'all got?" He asked without taking his eyes away from the elevator door.
" This office finna empty cause he gon be in that meeting and that's when we gon go and plugged ghost usb, and we gon be in their system" Davonte answered
King nodded it sounded so simple they get the USB to connect to the computer and then ghost is going to hack and by them more time while king goes looking for Mr Buford
The elevator made a loud ding signaling they were at the top floor, king gave them a nod and waited for them to get off before he does, so they could find the room while he entertained the young women behind the desk, she was pretty and seemed gullible king walked up to her with the intent of flirting with her to get what he wanted
" my office is the smallest compared to everyone in this building cause ima rookie. Mr Buford door is like the biggest office in this building once you see his office you know he's the boss" she laughed rolling her eyes at king's comment, they had a good conversation for the last 5 minutes and her personality cool, but he had to go once he felt his phone vibrating meaning they found the office
" I'll see you around" he winked at her and walked away, knowing she was watching him he turned to the rest room and waited the turn back on track walking all the way down to the last door
He opened the door and stepped in seeing Davonte has the sub plugged in already while Davonte searched around for a picture of me Buford, there was none, not even a picture of his family or friends. The office was quite bland everything was in order and neat.
" We in" Kai'jai let out the transferring was complete giving ghost access to the files and everything
King walked up to the weird looking air vent that was by the desk and slowly squat down feeling the edge of it something wasn't right he thought to himself.
This was too easy, nothing in life is this easy the words kept ringing in his ear, he shrugged the feeling off and pulled at the air vent and it opened up revealing a safe, king smiled satisfied with what he found
" check this out" he called out for their attention, he took the box and sat it on the desk .
Davonte eyed the safe in curiosity while Kai'jai called ghost
" how much time we got?" He questioned ghost
" hold up.. I'm trying to get this file to... oh shit! I'm in- I'm in"
" what you see?" Davonte asked standing next to Kai'jai staring at the face time call waiting for ghost to turn the camera around
King was in his own world he wasn't worried about nothing that was in the file he wanted to see what was in the safe
" hold the fuck up-" he began to say and then stopped to stare at the screen of the laptop
" Nigga what?" Kai'jai and Davonte yelled in frustration meanwhile King started putting in the code ghost had given him earlier and the safe slowly opened up
" Aye- y'all gotta get outta there ain't no nigga name Aaron Buford, this nigga is a ghost- tell king to get the fuck outta there now- shit it's a set up " ghost yelled Before king could peep to see what was inside the safe
" the fuck you talking-about" king said and turned to his right and seen Kai'jai and Davonte was in a headlock and had security guard pointing guns at them
He squinted his eyes in confusion and before he could grab his gun from his waistband he felt the cold pressure of a .47 on the side of his left temple
" what y'all lil niggas doing in my office " a loud voice said loudly from behind king and he automatically froze from the familiarity of the voice.
