> Song for this Chapter is Let Her Go by Jasmine Thompson. I attached it to this chapter. I'll let you know when to start playing it! :) <
-Harry's POV-
We just wrapped up sound check and the lads and I are anxious to hear Ava's song. It's one she has been working on with Louie. Taking a short poem he wrote and adding to it.
Heading off the stage we all make our way to one of the larger dressing rooms.
Inside we find Lou and Ava in a deep discussion, Ava looking more than slightly annoyed at Lou. When they notice us enter, they quickly slap smiles on their faces and turn to us. I wonder what that could be about. They always get along so well.
Louis drops himself onto one of the couches. "Alright lads, now don't be jealous when you hear the song, not everyone can write a poem as smashing as I can."
We all roll our eyes at Louis being his ever so humble self.
Ava goes and sits down in front of her keyboard looking a bit nervous.
"Okay, so you have all heard Louie's 'smashing' poem." She smiles at Louie who nods his head in agreement. "I basically used that as the chorus and wrote several verses to go with it, along with a melody."
"Sounds ace" Niall encourages her excitedly, "Now let's hear it!"
"Okay, I really hope you all like it. I left the title the same as the poem, Let Her Go."
We all nod before she places her hands down onto the keyboard and begins playing.
(Start Song Now)
Watching her play is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. I love to see the passion she has for her music.
Well you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missin' home
Only know you love her when you let her go
And you let her go
I glance around the room, happy to see smiles on all the lads faces.
Staring at the bottom of your glass
Hoping one day you'll make a dream last
But dreams come slow and they go so fast
You see her when you close your eyes
Maybe one day you'll understand why
Everything you touch surely dies
But you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missin' home
Only know you love her when you let her go
Staring at the ceiling in the dark
Same old empty feeling in your heart
'Cause love comes slow and it goes so fast
Well you see her when you fall asleep
But never to touch and never to keep
'Cause you loved her too much
And you dived too deep
Her last words hit close to home, making me think of how I feel about her.
Well you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missin' home
Only know you love her when you let her go
And you let her go
She finishes the last few notes of the song and looks up to find smiles spread across all our faces.
"Ava, that was brilliant!" Liam jumps up and grabs Ava into a hug. Lifting her feet off the ground. She laughs and throws her hands around his neck, hugging him back. I can't help the pang of jealously that shoots through me.
"Proper good! I loved it!" Zayn pushes Liam off her and pulls her into a side hug.
"Told ya it was gonna be ace!" Niall laughs before embracing her as well.
Finally taking my turn, I wrap my arms around her. Taking in the smell of her vanilla scented hair. "It was absolutely smashing love."
She tightly hugs me back, making me never want to let her go.
Louie of course ruins the moment by pulling me away from her.
"Well I think...." Louis' voice is void of any emotion, making a look of panic sweep across Ava's face.
He pauses before continuing on, ".......That it was bloody brilliant! I fucking loved it!"
Ava lets out the breath she was holding as Louie gives her a tight squeeze. "Really smashing Ava! We are so recording that!"
A grin takes over Ava's entire face as we all agree. "I'm so relieved you all like it!"
We immediately grab copies of the sheet music to go over the song. Per usual a war ensues over who is going to sing what part. I lean back, ignoring the lads as I watch Ava excitedly answer all their questions.
"Harry!" Lou whispers to me while smacking my arm. "I need to talk to you."
"Now?"
"Yes, now!" She keeps her voice low and motions me to get up and follow her.
I sigh and stand up. Ava's eyes watch us walk across the room and out the door. Once again giving Lou a not so friendly look.
We walk into the hallway with Lou closing the door behind us. "Okay so don't go mad, but I may have done something."
I fold my arms waiting for her to go on. Why do I have a feeling this has something to do with the looks Ava was giving her?
Lou gives me a worried look before going on, "I know this is just wretched of me, but I started talking to Ava about you, and she got a little upset. Then I got annoyed thinking about the whole situation and how stupid it is that you to aren't together... And I sort of went off on her about it and upset her even more, which upset me even more. And she went on about how she can't get hurt again and I basically, in a nice way, just told her to get over herself..."
I groan, running my hands over my face, "Lou... are you kidding me!?"
"I wish I was."
"What were you thinking!?"
"I know I'm absolute rubbish for doing it, but I went into it wanting to help."
"Well that just makes it all better doesn't it?" I spit at her.
"Harry, I'm sorry. I just see you two together and I can tell that you aren't happy just being friends with her. And I know she fancies you as well, she just needs a good push."
I sigh, rubbing my eyes, "No.. tried that already. Went horribly. And now things are going to be awkward between us again and we were just getting to a point where she was really beginning to trust me."
"Please Harry, I want to make this right. I'm going to talk to her aga-"
I quickly cut her off, "Oh no, you are defiantly not talking to her again! Just let me handle it."
"You're right... I'm really sorry. Please forgive me." She pleads.
"I get that you were only trying to help, but next time... just don't yeah?"
"Okay. Am I forgiven?"
"Yes Lou... but you owe me one."
"Whatever you want!" She smiles.
I laugh, "I wouldn't be so quick to say WHATEVER I want."
"True. What have I gotten myself into? I'll tell you right now, I'm not messing with Zayn's hair again for you, last time he about killed me."
"Oh, I'll think of something better than that." I wink at her and drape my arm across her shoulders. "Now lets go back in there. And try not to open your big mouth again."
She elbows me in the ribs before we walk back into the room. Ava's eyes shoot up as we enter, and I just give her a casual smile.
"Harry, get over here!" Liam motions me to join them on the couch.
"Ava was showing us how she adds in the other instruments on the keyboard, so it doesn't sound like it's just her playing the piano." Niall informs me, while starting to push buttons on her keyboard.
"Yes, now don't touch!" Ava says, smacking Niall's hands away.
A knock on the door interrupts our laughing at Niall, who's pretending Ava hurt him.
"Lads, its time to start getting ready for the show. You have thirty minutes."
"Yes Paul, right away sir!" Louie salutes him.
"Thirty minutes! And you two stay away from the go carts tonight." Paul orders while pointing at Louie and Zayn.
"Why I would never!" Louie yells as Paul slams the door shut.
"Alright lads, Harry you're up first. Now the rest of you, get changed." Lou goes into hairdresser mode, pulling out her tools.
"I'm gonna head to the hotel." Ava informs us.
"Noooo... stay and watch the show." I beg her, while sitting down in a chair in front of Lou.
"I have some more music I need to work on. You know, so I can actually do the job you guys are paying me for?" She laughs.
"You are coming to the after party right?" Zayn asks. "You didn't come to the last one. We might start to get offended."
"I don't think so." Her answer instantly brings my mood down. I don't want to go if she's not there. I would rather just hang out with her at the hotel.
"No!" Louie shouts, louder than necessary as usual, "You must go. Eleanor is getting in during the show tonight and she'll be there. She's been dying to meet you. She'll be absolutely gutted if you aren't there."
"Fine." Ava answers him, bringing a smile to my face.
"Great! She's going straight to the hotel when she gets in so you two can ride together to the party. The lads and I will just meet you there. Give me your phone, and I'll put her number in it, so you can ring her." Louie instructs Ava.
Ava hands over her phone before turning to Lou. "Are you going tonight?"
"You want me to go?"
"Yes of course."
Lou grins, obviously happy that Ava isn't still so upset with her. I knew she wouldn't be for long. She's to sweet to hold a grudge.
"So are you going?", she asks hopefully.
"I can't, Tom actually has off tonight so him and Lux are going to facetime me. Next time though?"
"Yeah next time." Ava gives her a reassuring smile, before taking her phone back from Louie and packing up her stuff.
I wish Lou would hurry up with my hair so I could talk to Ava before she leaves, but I know that's not going to happen. At least I know I'll get to see her later tonight.
"Okay guys, I'm heading out." Ava gives us all a wave goodbye, trying to get left before the lads all start shedding their clothing to change.
"See you soon." I call to her as she heads out the door. Turning around, she gives me a small smile before leaving the room.
"See! It's not awkward!" Lou nudges me, still trying to tame my hair.
"We'll see." I respond, before getting up and grabbing something to wrap around my hair. "Now forget my hair, you're gonna be fighting with it all night to get it the way you want."
"Only because you need to let me cut that mess!"
I shrug my shoulders and walk towards the clothing rack. We both know she's not going anywhere near my hair with clippers.
Picking out a shirt, I try to figure out how I'm going to get Ava alone tonight. I need to make sure everything is really still good between us after what happened with Lou.
I can't help the grin that spreads across my face as an idea comes to mind.
"What are you so chuffed about?" Zayn asks, pulling on a leather jacket.
"I just remembered something."
"Must be good for you to have that cheeky grin on your face." Zayn laughs before heading over to Lou.
"It is!" I call after him.
Smiling to myself, I take off my jumper and put on a t-shirt. Usually I don't care much for the after parties cause I'm completely knackered. But tonight is different. Tonight will be fun.
Tonight... Ava owes me a dance.
