Sonnet XV: Your Sacred Heart

We dream of them, their lifeless forms at night;

      We dream, we hug them tight and say goodbye,

And who were we before the dawn of light,

      And you our paths will cross, and justice sigh.

"Your grave awaits!" a holy fauna beats

      And never shall be stilled, who stands before

This life assured will never die, and cheats

      A certain death, and who is heaven's lore?

It's you I'm sure, the God who shines so bright

      You rule mans' soul; we pass this life for more

A hug, a kiss, is strength. Who walks the night,

      And fails the dawn will ever walk the shore.

But you the sea, the tempest comes for us

      To overwhelm, to flood our land, our truss.
