Hermione left Ron’s room and walked to the bedroom she shared with Ginny, to find Fred sitting on the bed waiting for her.
“We need to talk.” He said. His eyes were bloodshot as if he had been crying.
“Yes I think we do.” She said sadly. “But first…” She didn’t finish her sentence; she just began kissing Fred passionately. Fred forgot about what he was planning to say to her, instead he lifted her in his arms as if she weighed nothing more than a feather and pushed her down on her bed.
Fifteen minutes later Hermione and Fred were lying in the bed together, a thin layer of sweat covering their naked bodies.
“What did you want to talk about?” Fred asked her breathlessly, looking deep into her enchanting eyes.
“You go first.” Hermione said, snuggling into his arms, already knowing it was probably the last time she would do so.
“Ok. Hermione I love you. I know that isn’t what you expect to hear from someone you have only just realized that you like but it is true. I love everything about you. But I also love my family, and I think it would be better for all of us if we didn’t begin a relationship.” Fred said. As he said this his heart physically ached.
“I understand Fred. I wanted to say something along those lines too.” She said sadly.
“I just really wish it didn’t have to end so quickly.” Fred said, taking Hermione’s hands in his.
“Me too. Maybe in a few years time we could try again.” Hermione said with a smile.
“I’d like that.” Fred said, hoping that Ron would be okay with them dating by then.
Before he left the room Hermione kissed Fred one final time.
