A month later .....
Here I was sporting another black eye.
Thank God I was wearing red lipstick you couldn't tell that it's bleeding.
" you got two minutes they on their way" he said looking at me in the bathroom mirror as I stared at myself.
" and put some more makeup on that eye"
I nodded my head.
I couldn't even stand to look at myself anymore.
I felt like nothing but a punching bag he uses to take his anger out on.
After patting myself with more makeup.
I walked down the stairs to the living room.
Soon as I sat down I heard a knock at the door.
Ashton open the door to his parents.
They both looked like well to-do people.
" it's good to see you son"
I walked into their view.
They both seemed pretty shocked to see me.
" I would like for you guys to meet Nia" Ashton said pulling me close to him.
I now see where he get his looks from.
" it's a pleasure to meet you Miss Nia, you have on a beautiful dress" his mother said with a smile.
" same here and thanks" I said shaking her hand.
" so you the gal that stole my son heart" his dad said smiling.
He had salt n paper hair but that still didn't knock his look. I would say he is a little shorter than Ashton probably 6'0 but also well built for his age.
" I guess so" I said laughing nervously.
" well let's eat" Ashton.

The sounds of forks clinging to plates was all you heard.
Everyone including myself was indulging in the food I prepared.
I fixed stuffed chicken breast with broccoli rice casserole, and a cheese cake for desert.
" I am quite full off this delicious dinner, who taught you too cook like that" Ashton father asked.
" well my mother is a very good cooked herself. I watched her a lot in the kitchen"
" I see it sure have paid a lot of attention" Ashton father said laughing.
I don't know if he was talking about my weight or actuall cooking skills.
" Aldain hush" his wife said
" I'm just saying sweetie, she's a great cook, especially for that son of mine"
" you won't have to rely on takeout anymore"
I laughed.
" dad" Ashton said.
" whaaat but I'm not lying, boy you couldn't cook to save your life"
" but anyways how did you two meet" his mother butted in.
" well it was a friend of a friend gathering. He invited me to his house warming party, and I saw her"
" I knew I had to have her, isn't that right love" he said staring at me.
He squeezed my thigh under the table making me agree with him.
" y-yea it was"
" Nia is such a beautiful woman, I swear sometimes she does everything so effortlessly"
" sounds like a keeper, you know this reminds me a lot of me and your mom."
" the woman couldn't keep her eyes off of me"
" oh stop it Aldain" she said rolling her eyes.
After chatting it up with Ashton parents, him and his father went to his man cave while his mother helped me with the dishes.
" so .... do you really love my son ?"
She said passing me the wet dish to put on the rack to dry.
" y-yes I do."
" I'm sorry but I couldn't help but notice the black eyes that you have caked up with makeup"
I felt like she just reveal my dirtiest secret if I had one.
We both were now face to face.
" Sweetie the longer you stay the worse it gets" she said showing me the bruises on her neck.
My heart literally broke in half.
" don't feel sorry for me I'm the idiot for thinking he was going to change"
" I have put up with this for almost 32 years. I prayed that Ashton wouldn't follow in his father footsteps but I see it's already happening" she looking at me sadly.
" leave him ok"

" please do it young lady because I don't wanna see you hurt or laying in a hospital bed half dead"
Ain't no telling what this woman been through.
" seems like both of you ladies getting acquainted"
Both men was coming from downstairs.
" uh yes Ms. Nia here was telling me about her job" Ashton mother said.
" well I hope that was all she was doing" he said giving me a playfully/ seriously look.

I looked around at the empty two bedroom.
Since I was doing good on my probation I was able to get my own place.
" I'll take it" I said happily.
Every since I've been working at both jobs.
I had lot of savings to buy a car and place to stay.
" Ok Mr. Jennings you can follow me down at the leasing office to sign a few papers." The man said.
" alright" I said with my hands in my pocket.
I looked around one last time before I left my future apartment.
20 mintues later ......
" congratulations"

I happily took the keys out his hand.
Too bad I didn't have no one to run to tell the good news.
Most likely it would have been Nia.
I was still proud of myself of how far I have come.
I stoped by the half way house to pick up a few things of mine to move to my new spot.
" why the hell you so happy" Dub said with women on his lap.
" I finally got my spot"
" oh word ?"
" yea"
" that's waddup ..... oh this is Steffany"
I looked at the women. She looked too good to be around a guy like Dub.
" hi" she said

After passing by those two I begin to pack my bags.
After months of staying here things got a lil overcrowded.
Around 9:00 pm I took a break.
I debated of whether or not to call Nia. She would probably be happy for me.
I looked at the screen on my phone displaying her.
She hated that I took the picture of her but she really looked beautiful that day.
Her hair was in a natural state going a little pass her shoulder and wearing a red dress that stopped at her ankles.
That day I could not stop staring at her.
I sat my phone down on my stand going against my wishes.
I'm pretty sure she don't wanna be bother with me like she said.
