A boy with hair that was once blonde, and now had grown out to a inky black was sitting at a small table with his father.

The two ate as they conversed about Harry's latest potion achievement, he had made a perfect swelling solution.

When suddenly there was a tapping on the window. Spelling the window open the owl landed on the back of Remus chair where it was given an owl treat while the letter was removed from its leg.

The red stamp with the Hogwarts crest banished any doubts of what it was. Harry's  letter. Harry quickly opened the letter to read,

PARENTS ARE REMINDED THAT FIRST YEARS ARE NOT ALLOWED THEIR OWN BROOMSTICK

A week or so after getting the letter, Remus and Harry decided to go to Diagon Alley. Why one may ask that day, well discounts, lots and lots of discounts.

Remus grabbed the pendant under his robe and pushed his magic into it. The small pendant sat next to the one gifted to them from the werewolf pack. A crystalized seed that had runes carved in. As his magic was pushed into  the tunes gave off a soft glow showing their transfigurative nature.

Remus and Harry transformed into their, “alter egos" as Harry called them. Their disaigues when out in magical public.

Harry would be seen quickly, so he needed one for sure. Remus needed one as a few people from the war may recognize him.

They went from “Remus and Harry, the pack of two”  to, “Mike and Thomas Greenwood, the muggle born and his son.”

‘Mike’ was a tall and cadaverous man. A pinched face under his mop of light dirty blonde tangled hair. His light orange robes, contradicted the warm caramel brown pools full of life he called his eyes.

‘Thomas’ was a small boy with his bleach blonde hair in a small ponytail at the nape of his neck. Big light brown doe eyes were his only other distinctive feature. As the rest of him was engulfed in his soft gray robe.

The two were ignored by all as they made their way in the alley. Passing more than one robe shop the pair made their way to a small shop with a sign that read, ‘Roxies Robes’

It was a mom and pop shop, run by a nice couple. So they got all their robes there. They best robes around, for the best price.

“Mike, Thomas,” Vincent, the owner, said nodding his head in greeting as they walked in, “To what do I owe the pleasure of your business?”

‘Thomas’ smiled as he proudly proclaimed he had  gotten his Hogwarts letter and needed only the finest of robes. The two men chuckled at the blonde’s antics.

Without a delay a side door busted open to reveal a woman with a large stomach.

Smiling as she to tackled 'Thomas’ in a hug, as ‘Mike’ greeted the fellow werewolf,  “Hello Roxie how are you and the children?”

Looking at her stomach she told them about a terrible kick yesterday. Knowing the two could talk for hours, Vicent began to take his measurements as the three chatter away about possible baby names.

Remus told the Vincent, the OCD vampire, what the young boy needed. Black robes, dragon hide gloves, and winter cloaks, the Hogwarts combo. Then he dragged said boy out of the store with a quick goodbye to the pregnant werewolf and her husband.

Next they went to a second hand bookshop to get his books.  ‘Dos’s secondhand book store,’ a favorite that regularly has sells.

Browsing throughout the isles of books looking for the last book on his list, One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi.

Where could it be? Its It's not In the Hogwarts section or the herbology section maybe it's in the-

“Mum! Do I really need to get all these dumb books?”
Scanning the shelves for book, Thomas was interrupted. A bothersome voice had stopped his train of thought.

“Who would even want to take potions !?” As if he had struck him, Thomas clutched his heart.
Potions were dear to his heart and hearing such cruel words, no he couldn't take it.

And also you needed at least OWLS in potions to get any decent job.

“Why do I need to know about herbs and fungi??”  Knowledge of plants could save your life. Knowing which plant will heal you or kill you. Which one is eatable? Which one will come to life and kill you?

Turning the corner  Thomas saw a cluster of freckled faces and red hair. A man, a women, and four boys. One was Thomas age, and it was the complainer.

The mother was trying to get the complainer to understand why he needed the books.

The tallest of the sons wore horn-rimmed glasses, and looked pretentious as he glared at the last two.

A pair of twins looked as if they were planning something, by the way they were whispering to each other. It almost justified the tallest look.

The father look like the rest of his family, just looked like he just wanted to go home.

Thomas saw they were in front of the last book on his list, One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi, by Phyllida Spore. Deciding he would come back for it later he went to looked at some books about brooms.

After a minute he heard someone look through the books next to him. He saw the youngest redhead looking through a book about quidditch. Thomas wasn't  too surprised to see it mostly had pictures.

The redhead noticed him and asked if he was going to Hogwarts.

“Soon,” was the reply he gave him wanting to just ignore the other boy.

The kid didn't seem to get the memo when he exclaimed, “Well, I Ron Weasley, will get into Gryffindor, the best house!”

“Why is it the best house?” Thomas asked, finally putting his book down and looking at the boy, Ron. Only knowing about the houses from his father's stories.

“Gryffindors are the brave, confident, courageous, basically full of heroes who continuously fight against evil!”

Oh boy, was all that Thomas could think as the git blabbed on and on about his biased view of the Hogwarts houses.

“Hufflepuffs are scared, weakling leftovers that didn't have any good qualities,”

“Ravenclaws are nerds, who are only good for helping with homework and other useless stuff,”

“Slytherin is full of slimy dark backstabbing evil death eater snakes!”  Ron spat out in one breath, his face becoming a unflattering pink color.

Thomas wasn't surprised at Ron's views anymore, he almost expected them. Only surprised by just how many adjectives he knew.

“So I'm guessing you family was all Gryffindor?” Thomas  asked as he looked at the assortment of books on brooms

“You bet,” the aggravating redhead said with a proud smile upon his face

Thomas decided to grab ‘build your own broom’ and ‘ brooms : a history’ before leaving the git behind him. Grabbing a few more books he took his stack to the counter and put it next to his father's.

The two played and left with their books as Thomas ranted to his father about a certain redhead.

They didn't notice they had forgotten a book.
