Leah POV
The rest of the day passed in a daze. I either showed up late or walked into the wrong class. Lunch was filled with whispered conversations, everyone still thinking about what happened earlier.
I sat alone outside staring into space. My mind was blank, heart was pained and emotions a mess. Needless to say when the bell rang I was the first one out the door. As I walked to my bike I felt a pair of eyes on me. Sensing Adrian I stopped and closed my eyes.
"Leah" he said, his voice expressionless.
He turned and walked deeper into the woods. Silently I followed, he was still blocking his emotions from me yet mine was as open as a book.
Once he stopped hearing the chatter of the school grounds he turned to me; a masked look on his face. Neither of us said anything for a while, knowing we had to talk about what happened I slowly mustered up some courage from the pits of my still broken heart.
"Adrian I-"I started.
"I don't want you" he interrupted and I stammered, disbelief lacing my eyes. I looked up at him for any sign of a joke, but I found none. His eyes were blank, back to their gold color but the black specks still present.
With that look my world broke down.
I opened my mouth but nothing came out, my already mixed emotions became raw, whatever remained of my heart was now crumbled and lay in ruins in front of me. "Why" I managed to choke out, tears freely rolling down my face.
"It's for the best. We're different people now" I looked into his eyes and recognized the truth in that.
He was not my Adrian.
He was someone else.
I looked into his eyes, the black becoming more prominent. My Adrian was gone. I was empty and so was he. In front of me was just a shell of the person he was. My body started shaking and knees gave way. I sank to the floor and Adrian's gaze followed me, a sneer now on his face. "Look at you, you were strong and I was weak, now I am strong and you're a mess."
With that he walked away leaving me on the floor.
I was a blubbering mess. His words rang in my ears. My mate doesn't want me. That's all I could think.
I don't know how long I stood there but I heard a voice in the distance, eventually it got closer and I realized it was my name being called.
"Leah"
Uncle Jack, I opened my eyes and whimpered. He must've heard because he soon came into view. "Oh Leah, what happened to you?" he cried leaning down and picking me up. Noticing he wasn't going to reply he headed back and soon I found we were in the school parking lot. "I'll bring your bike back tomorrow" he murmured as he placed me into the car.
I barely noticed the drive home but soon realised I was placed in my bed. A silent Uncle Jack now stared at me, questions in his eyes. I said nothing; even if I wanted to I doubt I would've been able too. Noticing this he kissed my temple and left.
As soon as he shut the door the tears came back. I felt bereft and exposed. My emotions on display and my heart destroyed. Somehow my body seemed to realize its tired state and I eventually drifted into a forced sleep.

I was up in the air floating along the clouds. Below I saw the ocean, its cobalt blue shining in glory. Looking up I noticed my path was becoming darker. The clouds slowly changed from a soft white to dull grays until I was deep in the midst of charcoal black clouds yet I did not stop. My brain was telling me I shouldn't be here but I had no choice but to continue.
Looking down I saw a forest but the trees were burnt and fire braced its branches instead of leaves. The ground was brown and dirty, not a single creature in sight. I was scared. It didn't take a genius to figure out this was a bad place.
The dark menacing forest spread out for miles and miles ahead of me and I was starting to float down, towards it. The embers from the fire trees started to flick onto my bear arms and legs but I couldn't move. I endured the pain, slowly moving until I saw a light speck ahead of me. Floating closer I saw Adrian surrounded by light sitting on luscious green grass.
He looked up at me and I saw it was my Adrian. His eyes were gold, bright and brilliant. He had a pained expression as I reached out to him. My arms still being burnt, I silently pleaded with him to help me but he just stared. His eyes expressing his regret, hurt and pain. He tried to move but was restricted.
More and more the flames began to consume me and I screamed. "Adrian, help me!" I cried, but still he didn't come. "I'm trying. I'm so sorry Leah." he said in my head before the flames overcame me and I screamed.
Waking up in a cold sweat, I was still screaming. Uncle Jack came in looking for danger. Noticing me, he grabbed my arms and started to shake me. Within my daze I noticed what he was trying to do and stopped screaming. Looking at him, the dream came back to me and fresh tears sprung from my eyes.
My wounds reopened as I thought of Adrian, my mate. He really was gone. The person I loved was somewhere else, and I had no way of getting him back.

Two days I stayed in bed. I hardly ate and anything I did was force fed from Uncle Jack. He had tried everything to get a response from me, comforting, yelling, bribing., yet it was all in vain. I was a shell. The new Adrian was right; I had given my soul to someone and became a weakling. Shame and guilt was all I felt. Even my wolf had left me, I hardly felt her presence.
Mel and Jules had been calling, trying to get through to me but I ignored them as I did with everyone. Jack soon had enough of my sulking and practically forced me to go to school. I literally dragged myself out of bed, and very slowly walked to the bathroom. Taking all the time in the world in the shower I let the water wash away everything I felt.
Leaving me completely utterly useless, my empty exterior walked downstairs and into the kitchen. Jack watched me carefully, like I was going to break at any moment. The Leah he once knew ceased to exist.
I ate my breakfast robotically and sluggishly walked to the door. I walked pass the mirror in the hallway that held a reflection of a girl, she looked lost, her pale skin seems to fade even more in contrast against her black hair and her eyes, clouded by the dull, monotonous blue; showed no sign of life.
Forgetting about her, I kept walking and stepped out into the cold. I looked to the up, only seeing the dreary sky overhead. Continuing forward I suddenly stopped. In front of me stood my bike, my pride my joy, gleaming brightly and beckoning me to enjoy the thrill it brought. I stared at it for a moment remembering the adrenalin that surged through my veins; closing my eyes at the memory I turned my back on it and walked to my car.
As I walked towards my locker Mel and Jules came running towards me. They were talking but their words just brushed over me. Ahead lay Adrian or the new Adrian anyway. He was wearing navy blue jeans and a black t-shirt and beanie. His arms pale from the lack of sunlight his hoodie's use to cover.
People openly stared until he neared them; they quickly looked down showing their submissiveness and walked out of the way. He turned the corner without looking me and then I noticed another figure.
Zack
He was leaning against his locker a few feet away looking at me. I held his gaze for a moment before turning to my friends. I gave them a quick smile and walked to class. Sitting down next to Mel I noticed Zack walk in and take the seat to my left.
Throughout the class he didn't say anything, just stood there and offered me comfort I didn't receive from anyone else. I felt horrified at my feelings. Zack was the reason for my mates, scratch that, my former mate's distress and here I was welcoming his presence.
The rest of the day past with me trying to avoid Zack and Adrian altogether. Walking to the car park my feet suddenly pulled me into the woods. I found myself in the clearing where Adrian and I first got together. I never would've expected my happiness to be so shortly lived.
Lost in my own thoughts I didn't hear anyone beside me until they cleared their throat. Startled I jumped and turned around only to see the person I was trying to avoid.
Zack's POV
I couldn't have planned it better myself. God knows what came over that idiot Adrian but he couldn't have played the part any perfectly. Leah was meant to be mine and thanks to him, she will be. It was hard to not constantly grin at how everything was playing out but I needed to play my part for now.
I followed her into the woods silently and watched as she stared into the distance. I cleared my throat and she jerked staring at me. Her cloudy eyes suddenly turned dark "What do you want!" she screamed "THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! You and your friends" disgust on her face.
It took all my strength to keep the emotionless mask I was portraying. When she is mine she will never speak to me like this again, I will never allow such disrespect.
"All the taunting and bullying and abuse YOU inflicted" her hand jerked and slapped me; still I said nothing, did nothing.
I needed her to let her guard down. She slumped unexpectedly and started crying. I knelt down and held her in my arms. She struggled for a while but I held tighter until she gave up. My chin rested on her head and I finally let a satisfying smirk braced my lips.
Leah will be obedient.
Leah will be mine.
And Adrian is going to help me get her.
