Sans grimaced as his discomfort on his chest forced him to open his eyes and wake up from his peaceful slumber.

Sans looked to the side, expecting Grillby to greet him with a morning kiss and a cuddle like usual, however, it seemed as if today that wouldn't be the case.

Grillby was still asleep.

It was weird.

Sans rubbed his eyes.

4:17 AM.

Sans sighed, clenching his hand over his chest.

It felt.... a bit painful.

It felt almost as if there was a needle stuck in his ribcage.

It was very, very, uncomfortable.

Sans quietly got on his feet, careful not to wake his husband, and tip toed to the restroom, closing the door behind him.

okay what the hell is going on... Sans thought as he took off his shirt and inspected his chest.

Nothing.

Intrigued, Sans took out his soul.

Once again, nothing.

"hm. that's odd." The confounded monster mumbled as he proceeded to put his soul back in place.

"Knock knock"

"Sans? You in there?" A noticeably still half asleep Grillby mumbled.

"yeah, grillbz. i'm gonna take a shower. now go back to sleep, big guy" Sans said before letting out a long silent sigh and smiling at the thought of Grillby's adorable tired expression.

The pain was gone without even him realizing, and that almost bothered him a little.

He absolutely hated how his body was just plain.... Weird.

But of course, he shrugged it off.

Skeletons are strange, and for him, a skeleton, to say that, it certainly makes that statement true.

Not even him, from apart being a skeleton, an ex-scientist, understood his race.

Sans turned the water on to a steamy-hot temperature and undressed, carefully then stepping into the tub in which he would be for the next half-an-hour thinking how mornings would be if he could take showers with Grillby as he tried not to blush at his thoughts.

Grillby served a cup of alcohol and handed it to his customer.

Today it was such a slow day, it was barely noon.

"Yo Grill!" A familiar voice shouted from behind.

Grillby turned around.

"Oh hello, Red Bird. You're early to your shift. Your shift doesn't start in like an hour."

"Well you see, G, I just couldn't wait to see you so I can congratulate you! The whole social media is going rampage since MTT posted a picture this morning of your proposal to Sans last night about an hour ago! When I saw this, I literally exploded into cheers. Congrats, man!" Red Bird exclaimed.

"Oh thank you!" Grillby laughed.

"Yo! Folks! A round of applause for this man's successful proposal to the love of his life!" Red shouted.

Applause roared in, causing Grillby to lightly blush at the huge amounts of attention.

"Thank you, thank you" he constantly repeated to the crowd, his voice almost becoming into a murmur.

"I'll take over for your shift. What are you even doing here! You're supposed to be with your husband planning a honeymoon and/or wedding! Go get laid it something at least!" Red Bird realized, gently and playfully shoving Grillby out of the bar.

"A-are you sure I'm supposed to so that?"

"Yes I'm fucking sure!"

And with that, Grillby was out of the bar on his way home.

Well that was awkward.

Sans grinned as he looked at the newly bought engagement ring.

He walked, almost trotted, down the street.

In his heart, he was already married to Grillby, but he just wanted it to be one-hundred percent official by him himself putting that ring on his husband.

He wanted everyone to know who he married.

He was ecstatic.

Sans let the breeze of the cold weather outside caress his face.

It felt so nice.

Fluffy thoughts filled his mind, and his want to scream out of joy only rised.

Sans held the ring to his chest and squealed.

It was amazing how far he had gotten.

He never thought his dream would become a reality.

Especially after being aware there was resets altering timelines.

But that didn't matter anymore.

Time would keep moving peacefully forward.

From the distance, he noticed someone walking down the street.

It was Grillby!

Sans' soul skipped a beat.

It was funny how easy it was to identify Grillby from the distance.

He was a unique man, and Sans just absolutely adored that.

Sans was just about to head toward Grillby but stopped at the realization of what was in his hands.

The ring, he recalled.

With a sigh of relief, he decided it would be best to go home and take his time to think of how he would phrase the 'surprise'.

Snapping his fingers, Sans made his way home in just a blink of an eye.

.....

It was an unexpected mistake.

A burst of pain flowed through Sans' body.

It felt almost as if he were shot.

The surprised, pained monster fell onto the floor, tipping over a lamp from a counter and causing it to make a loud noise of broken glass being shattered.

"SANS!? IS THAT YOU?" Papyrus' blurred voice was heard from downstairs.

Sans hated doing this, but the pain was just unbearable.

Based from his knowledge, the source of the problem was his soul.

He had never had a strong soul anyway.

"p-papyrus!!" Sans shouted, his voice cracking up with the raw agony he felt.

A loud shuffle was heard, loud, fast stomps were then heard coming up from the stairs.

The door was slammed open.

"SANS!"

Papyrus ran next to his brother and laid him on the bed.

"WHAT'S WRONG?!" He asked with worry and slight panic.

"my soul hurts. i don't know why." Sans groaned.

Unable to think of another thing to do, Papyrus instinctively began pouring healing magic into his older sibling's soul.

"THE GREAT PAPYRUS WILL SAVE YOU!" Papyrus assured with a shaky smile.

In reality, he was scared.

He didn't known what to do.

He called the ambulance.

—•ღ•—

Grillby knocked on the door.

The sun was setting, signifying the arrival of dawn.

The elemental knocked again, standing up straight, ready for the door to open any moment now.

Grillby looked at the white flowers he had bought and made sure they looked as perfect as possible.

Okay, he was ready.

There was an awkward silence.

Still, nobody opened the door.

Befuddled, Grillby walked to the driveway.

The cars were there, they had to be there.

Also, Sans would have told him if he wasn't going to be home.

Why aren't they opening the door? Grillby thought, feeling a bit unwanted now.

He went back, knocked on the door, nothing.

He took his phone out, called Sans, nothing.

Grillby fiddled with the flowers, and sat on the stairs of the tiny porch that lead into the entrance door, defeated.

"They aren't there." A deep, male voice said from a distance of about five meters.

Grillby looked to the house neighboring the skeleton brothers' house.

There was a tall man there, casually triming his small garden of multicolored roses.

His skin was dark, and he wore an Astros baseball hat with a jersey to match with it.

Grillby just stared.

"I saw you looking for the skeletons that live in there, am I right?" The human raised an eyebrow.

Grillby rubbed the back of his neck and nodded.

"Yes sir." He mumbled.

"An ambulance took them." The man said.

Grillby's head shot up.

"An ambulance..." He repeated in shock.

Without looking up, concentrating more on the trim and edges of the leaves of the bush, the man shook his head.

"Yup!"

Feeling a bit nervous, Grillby walked to the man.

As a result, both were like the same height, the distance had just tricked his mind.

"Do you know to what hospital they headed to?" Grillby timidly asked.

"The logo on the ambulance signified they'd be going to the Hospital of Mt. Ebbot for Monsters and Humans, thankfully. I don't recommend monsters going to Health Center Hospital, they're pretty racist towards monsters and they barely give you any service." The older adult replied.

"Well, thank you for the information, uh...-"

"-Call me Sean." Sean chuckled, his laugh sounded thunder like, almost like a rumble.

"Well thank you, Sean." Grillby thanked.

"It was nice to meet you. My name is Grillby." He put his hand up for a handshake.

"Nice to meet you to, but forgive me for this, haha! Your name is Grillby!?"

Grillby turned away with embarrassment.

"Is there something wrong with that..?" He asked, self conscious.

"Of course not! My bad if I made it sound like that. It's just that you're made of fire and your- ah nevermind... It sure was definetly nice to meet you too-" Sean laughed as he was about to give Grillby a handshake but paused instantly.

"Wait you're made of fire! Will it burn?" Sean realized.

"Oh no no no! I only burn things I want to burn, but you certainly aren't one of them. It's safe, plus, it's kind of like magic." Grillby assured.

Both then shook hands.

"Feels tingly and warm..." Sean commented with amusement after the handshake.

"A-Anyway, sorry I've kept you here for too long, Grillby. You should be going to the hospital." Sean apologized.

"It's alright, and once again, thank you!" Grillby said, turning around and preparing himself to run.

"No problem! Good luck!"

Finally, Grillby was on his way to the hospital.

Just about 11 blocks away. He could make it.

Sean stared at Grillby run and took out his phone, taking off his gardening gloves.

"Yo Daniel! My man! You wouldn't believe it. I fucking befriended a fire monster and even shook hands with him! ..... No it didn't hurt. It was awesome!"
