SEEING BLIND

9|  Rockstar.

"He believed me." Luke laughed, shoving his phone in his pocket. He had just got Siri to text Andre that he won't be needing a lift today as he is ill, with something Luke had only just made up.

He then received a text from his father, questioning his whereabouts. Luke simply 'reminded' him that he had stayed the night at Andre's, and he 'remembered.' Unsure of how to feel about his parent blatant lies, he shrugged understanding he lied also.

"Well, we should probably make breakfast before we go anywhere. I'm starving." Annie helped Luke down the stairs, guiding him into the open and wide kitchen and seating him on one of the stools around the island in the middle. "I was thinking pancakes?"

"I thought you had a chef?" Luke questioned, resting his arms on the counter. He realised he hadn't put his glasses on this morning, yet he didn't feel self-conscious or exposed anymore.

"He's on holiday at the moment." She shrugged, cracking the eggs into a bowl and mixing all the ingredients together. "Did you want to make one?"

"I'll probably set your house on fire." Luke chuckled, thankful that she was asking in the first place.

"That'll be a fun story to tell." Annie smiled, helping Luke up and around the island. She placed her hand on top of his as she held the pan, spreading the mixture out to make a circle. He smiled at the gesture, his left hand leaning back to squeeze her waist, just so she knew he appreciated this.

"How's it looking?" Luke asked, hearing the sizzling of the mixture.

"Ready to flip I think." Annie guided Luke's hand to the spatula, helping him unstick the underneath of the pancake. Then she got him to drop the utensil, putting the handle of the pan back in his hand as they attempted to flip it. Landing half off the pan wasn't as bad as Annie thought might happen, she wasn't good at flipping pancakes herself, but she was quite proud of this. "We did it!"

She giggled proudly as she wiggled the pan in Luke's hands, getting it fully back to the middle and letting it sit on the stove for a few minutes.

Luke turned around and placed his hands on her neck, moving them up to her cheeks before kissing her in thanks.

After making a few more and adding their own toppings, they both made their way upstairs to get ready for the day ahead of them.

It had only occurred to Annie now that she was skipping a full day of school. It also occurred to her how hot Luke looked in sweatpants, even if they were her dads. Biting her bottom lip, she went into the spare room to gather Luke's things for him before helping him into the ensuite.

Whilst he was getting changed in there, Annie rummaged through her wardrobe for something nice to wear. She pulled out a white top to go underneath the black and white plaid mini dress she had decided on wearing. It was very rare that she dressed using the expensive clothes her mother would buy her, but today she just felt so on top of the world that she wanted to.

Placing her clothes on the bed, she rid herself of her pyjamas and rummaged through her drawers for some clean underwear. Slipping on her underwear and bra she heard the familiar click of the door opening.

Luke walked out with the clothes in his hands, his sunglasses around his neck, making him look like a normal, non-blind, boy.

"Luke!" Annie screeched, grabbing her clothes momentarily to cover her half naked body. Then she sucked her lips in, biting her bottom one as she was about to breath out an apology.

"Sorry, I forgot that you might be changing. Do you want me to go back in the bathroom so you don't feel uncomfortable?" He chuckled, blinking a few times as he smirked to himself.

"Uh- no, it's ok. Sorry for yelling at you, I kind of forgot... I'm sorry." Annie couldn't help herself from apologising, she felt so terrible for yelling at him.

"It's fine don't worry, for all I know you could be naked, which is extremely unfortunate in my case." Luke pouted, smiling again as he heard Annie giggle also.

"I know I normally show you things, but I think this should wait for a while maybe." She chuckled, getting changed into her clothes and walking to in between Luke's legs as he sat at the end of the bed. She held his hands in hers as she showed him her outfit.

"You feel beautiful." Luke smirked, knowing that was a smooth line to stay. Annie blushed as Luke kept his hands on her waist, only a few inches lower he would be touching the skin on her thighs.

-

"You do know I can't read right?" Luke questioned, a breathy chuckle leaving his lips as Annie dragged him into a library. They had been aimlessly wondering the town with random shops and restaurants and cafes and everything in between entertaining them.

"I know I forgot you were blind before, but I remember now ok? I just wanted to check some of the books out, and I also thought of a game we could play." Annie grinned widely, swinging Luke's hand back and forth as they made their way into the depths of the library.

"And what's that?" Luke smiled, looking down to where he assumed she was.

"I'm going to keep talking to you, like I am now, but every once in a while I'm going to try and say a book title without you noticing. Like, say it into the sentence kind of. I don't know, I'm lost for words." Annie chuckled, shrugging her shoulders.

"Right, ok. Sure, how hard can that be?" He shrugged, raising his eyebrows.

"Well you just missed one. 'Lost for words' by Stephanie Butland." Annie burst out laughing, shaking her head as she saw Luke pout. Pecking his lips, they kept wondering through the library, playing the stupid game and making way too much noise.

After Luke yelled something non-repeatable, the pair of delinquents got kicked out, scolded by the elderly lady for making such a ruckus.

"I can't believe you just yelled that in a library! There were old ladies in there!" Annie clutched her stomach, unable to stop the tears dripping down her face and the cramping in her sides.

"They loved it really. Everybody loves 50 Shades Of grey." Luke chimed, giggling away himself as he shook his head.

Of course Luke used to be a bit of a rebel, most of the jocks were, but for some reason, when he was Annie, he felt like he could do anything without any consequences. He wanted to hear her laugh on repeat for the rest of his days, even if that did mean repeating what Annie had read from a page of 50 Shades to the entire library.

"Let's go in there." Luke pointed to a shop to the right of them, hoping it wasn't something stupid. He had been doing this for the past few hours, pointing to shops which Annie would then drag him into and somehow, they always seemed to make it funnier than the last.

"It's a music shop, I can show you my piano skills." Annie chuckled, dragging him inside and through the narrow walkways.

Luke frowned at the possibility of it being a music shop. Out of all the shops he could have chosen, he had to choose the one he loved the most.

Annie sat down on a piano stool, getting right on the edge and getting Luke to sit next to her. Both of them soon realised they wouldn't fit on the small stool, but Luke didn't want to ruin the moment. So, he wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her onto his lap, smiling against her skin as he rested his chin on her shoulder.

"Is this ok?" Annie asked, not wanting to make Luke uncomfortable in anyway.

"Perfect." Luke smiled, pecking her cheek as he turned his head forward, showing he was ready to listen to her play. Annie decided to play an easy tune 'Skinny Love- Birdy'. Luke smiled as he knew the song, recognising it from one of his many playlists on his phone.

Luke's hands moved from Annie's waist up to her arms, following them down to her fingers as his rested on top. She continued to play, biting her lip as she watched him hum along.

Annie slipped her hands out from underneath his, causing his to drop as a pout made its way to his lips. Grabbing Luke's hands again, Annie placed them on the piano with hers on top, pressing down on the keys as she started to play the same tune.

Once the song had finished, Luke lifted his hand up to cup her chin, half his fingers on her cheek, as he moved her head around so he could press his lips to hers. The gesture made Annie's inside explode and bounce as she kissed him back, smiling into the kiss as his left hand- that wasn't cupping her face- squeezed her hand.

"Do you play anything?" Annie was curious, she wanted to know more about the boy who's lap she had currently claimed as her own seat.

"Uh, no, not anymore." Luke shook his head, thinking of his grandads present of an electric guitar as well as an acoustic one. Luke often played the acoustic one at home, his parents thinking he hibernated in his room to play video games and waste time. Realistically Luke would learn as many songs as his brain could manage, even writing his own as he was so intrigued by the skill. "I used to play guitar."

Luke wanted to do more with his better-then-average guitar skills, he wanted to do it at school and maybe even start a band; but his parents were set on him being a football star. He enjoyed football as well, but he couldn't truly express himself like he did in songs and music, he didn't want to be just another football player, he wanted to be a musician.

"You don't anymore?" Annie sounded genuinely confused as to why he would quit doing something that seemed to bring him joy, the memory of playing making a smile on his face.

"How many times am I going to have to remind you that I'm blind? I should put my glasses back on shouldn't I?" Even though Luke's tone was playful, his smile giving him away, he couldn't help but feel a little forgotten.

"So? That doesn't have to stop you from doing things you love. You just played piano, didn't you?" Annie sounded as if this were her mission in life, to get Luke to realise that just because he's blind doesn't mean the worlds stop turning.

"I guess, I haven't played in ages." He shrugged, his hands finding her arm as she stood up. Annie started walking and Luke assumed they were leaving the shop, that that was the end of the conversation and they were going to continue with their random shop explorations.

When Annie guided Luke to another seat, he couldn't help but question the beautiful sounding girl in front of him.

"Here," Annie muttered, placing a guitar in Luke's hands and sitting on the floor in front of him. Luke chuckled, turning the guitar around as she placed it upside down. He raised an eyebrow and she just stared back, unsure of what he needed. "Oh, a pick."

Passing Luke the pick, she seated herself back on the floor, her head in her hands as she gazed up at the blond boy.

He gulped, praying he didn't look like an idiot as he started to strum. The familiar sound of 'skinny love- Bon Iver (Birdy' being played as he hummed along. An excited squeal left Annie's lips as she watched him play, he was amazing, like this had been his calling in life.

Annie noticed the store owner walking over, she assumed he was going to tell them to leave or something as it was nearly time for the store to close.

"You're a natural, kid! You'll be a Rockstar one day." He mused, ruffling Luke's hair as if he were his own child. A blush covered Luke's skin as he thanked the stranger, standing up and passing the guitar back to Annie.

"C'mon, Rockstar, let's go home." Annie chimed, interlacing their hands together and leading them both to the bus stop.

-

"My parents are out did you want to chill at mine for a bit?" Luke asked, walking the familiar steps to his house as he rummaged his pockets for a key. Once being unfortunate enough to not find one, he mentioned to Annie that there should be one under the welcome mat.

"Sure, can I have something to eat please?" Annie bent down and got the key from under the mat, unlocking the door and placing the key back under the mat.

"Yeah, I'm starving too, pizza?"

"D'you even have to ask?" Annie chuckled, following Luke who was surprisingly good and finding his way to his room, his left hand on the wall for guidance.

He flopped on the bed, rubbing his eyes as he placed his sunglasses on the bedside table. He hadn't worn his sunglasses all day, he felt somewhat free. Annie picked up her phone and ordered the usual pizzas they had, smiling as she joined Luke on the bed.

"Oh my god you have an Xbox? My mum never let me have one because it was a 'boys game', so I had to play it at Calum's." Annie gasped, sitting up on the bed as she had a closer look.

Luke was going to ignore the mention of 'Calum', he didn't want to be the jealous almost-boyfriend, even if it did make his insides burn and ache.

"You can play if you want," Luke chuckled, feeling the bed get lighter as she searched through the box of games he had.

"GTA?" Annie asked, already putting the disc in and sitting in between Luke's legs. Her back rested against Luke's chest, her butt between his thighs and her legs between his. Luke wrapped his arms around her waist, kissing her neck as he felt her move the controller. "D'you remember the controls?"

"Yeah, this one is to drive," as he held the remote in her hands, she slipped them away so only Luke was holding it. "What're you doing?" He chuckled, placing the remote on her leg.

"I'll tell you where to go, you play." She shrugged. Annie didn't know why she was getting him to do all of these random things, but she wanted to help. If she could get him back into playing guitar or playing games then he could be happy, that's all she wanted.

"Um, I don't know if this will work..." Luke mumbled, his arms still around her waist as he picked up the controller, moving the character round in random directions.

"You're so optimistic." Annie rolled her eyes sarcastically, elbowing Luke as she gave him directions.

Luke didn't think that playing this game would bring so much laughter to the both of them, his sides stitching as Annie cried out in joy.

"You ran over a dog!" Annie screeched, turning in Luke's arms as her body vibrates the whole bed. Little to Luke's knowledge, and Annie's, his mum was stood outside the door, the smallest of gaps in the door so she could have a glimpse of her son being happy again.

Jane hadn't heard his laugh in a long time, so long it was barely recognisable. She remembered why she was actually up here, opening the door and greeting the happy two. "I've got pizza."

Annie wiped her eyes of the tears as she thanked Jane, grabbing the boxes from her hands as she took them back to the bed.

With both of them being starving it didn't take them long to finish their pizzas, lying on the bed full on food and happiness. A loud yawn croaked from Annie's lips, her body stretching as she checked the time.

Luke lay back on the bed, pulling Annie with him as her body flopped against his chest. "D'you wanna just stay over?" He asked, running a hand through her hair and combing it along the way.

"Nope." She shook her head, popping the 'P' as she sat up, just above Luke's waist yet again. He pouted his lips, furrowing his brows as he gripped her thighs.

"Why?" He groaned, holding her hand and pulling it into his chest.

"Because... a wise blind man once told me that we were moving fast... and he was right, as much as I enjoyed it. We already shared a bed last night and skipped school, I definitely can't do the second one again." She leant down, pressing kisses to his neck and up his cheeks as she spoke. "Some of us enjoy school, Mason." She muttered against his lips before pressing them together.

"Nerd." He mumbled, biting her bottom lip in an attempt to make her stay.

"Rockstar." She whispered, pecking his lips again before getting up and ready to leave.
