This is another one of those songs that began as a random idea that sounded good but I didn't know where it was going and after a real life experience, I found inspiration as to how to finish it. The story is kind of about somebody on the outside of a relationship watching as the relationship falls apart and the boy finds another girl immediately as if the first one never even existed. It's written as if the singer is talking to a friend's ex.
If I Were Her
Verse:
I know your type boy
I saw you just the other day
With someone that I know
But boy you moved on
In the blink of an eye
To someone new
Prechorus:
Well if she could see
The tears you left your last girl in
Then she'd understand
Chorus:
If I were her
I wouldn't let you take my heart in the first place
Throw it on the ground just like it was nothing and walk away
If I were her
I wouldn't give you the chance
To make me so vulnerable to this heart ache
If I were Her
I'd know to wait
For someone who actually deserves me
If I were
Verse:
I know your type boy
You're not the only one
Who tried to play this charade
Just to get what you want
I bet she doesn't even know
who you are
Prechorus:
'Cause if she could see
The tears you left your last girl in
Then she'd understand
Chorus:
If I were her
I wouldn't let you take my heart in the first place
Throw it on the ground just like it was nothing and walk away
If I were her
I wouldn't give you the chance
To make me so vulnerable to this heart ache
If I were Her
I'd know to wait
For someone who actually deserves me
If I were, oh
If I were
Bridge:
Nobody deserves a broken heart
But that's all you leave behind
Nobody deserves to fall for your games
You're not worth their time, oh
Chorus:
If I were her
I wouldn't let you take my heart in the first place
Throw it on the ground just like it was nothing and walk away
And I wouldn't give you the chance
To make me so vulnerable to this heart ache
If I were her
I'd know to wait
For someone who actually deserves me
If I were, oh
If I were, oh
If I were
