We walked out of nickel cade.
"So where are we going now?" I asked as Jack put all of our prizes in the backseat.
"Well, I was thinking we could go home and get into something nice and we can go enjoy the rest of our night with lovely dinner." He smiled.
"Sounds good!" I said.
We got into the car and began driving to the hotel.
**Ring**
I picked up my phone.
"Hello?" I said.
"Hello. May I speak to Sarah Atkins?"
"This is she."
"Hello Ms. Atkins, your brother Dillan is done with his surgery. He would like if you come quickly to visit him please."
"Is there something wrong?"
"No mam. He just begs to see you."
"Okay don't worry I'm on my way." I said.
I hung up.
"What's up?" Jack asked.
"Lets go to the hospital." I said.
Jack took a U turn and began heading up to intermountain healthcare.
I struggled thinking of the many things that could be wrong.
Jack grabbed my hand and squeezed it tight.
I looked out the window forcing myself to think positive. But all I could feel was negativity.
We pulled up to the hospital.
We got out of the car and immediatly rushed in to get our passes and up to his room.
We got up there and knocked.
The doctor opened the door and we both walked in.
Dillan was lying on the bed looking pail.
"Dillan?" I said softly.
"He's sleeping mam." The doctor said. "I leave you guys some time alone."
The doctor walked out of the room.
"Dillan?" I said softly. "Can you hear me?"
His eyes began to flutter open.
He turned and faced me.
"Sarah..." He said.
I smiled at the sight.
I hugged him tightly.
"You scared me." I said. "For a moment there, I felt as if I was going to lose..."
"Sarah stop." He said.
"What?"
"Dont think right away..." He said. "Before everything breaks down."
"Dillan what are you talking about?"
I looked at Jack who looked way more confused than I did.
"I know how much it hurts to lose someone you love..." He gripped my hand.
"Dillan what are you trying to say?" I asked tears strolling down my face.
"I don't have much time." He cried. "Please don't forget..."
Jack got up and walked out of the room knowing that we needed time alone.
"Forget what??" I was worried. "Dillan you're scaring me what's going on!?"
"Jack is the one for you." He said. "And I know that with everything..."
"Stop with the love stuff, Dillan what's going on?"
"Please forgive me..." He said. "And please don't forget..."
"Forget what!? Dillan!?"
"Me." He said.
"What are you talking about?" I said holding onto his hands as tight as possible.
"Let me sleep Sarah..." He said.
He then closed his eyes and fell asleep.
I cried next to his bed worrying about what he had just said.
Jack walked in.
He glanced over at Dillan.
Then at me.
He then ran back out.
The doctor rushed in.
Jack followed.
The doctor walked over to him and listened to his heart.
He grabbed his wrist and listened to his pulse.
He looked at me.
"He's okay." He said.
I glared at him wanting to stab him in the chest.
"Okay!?" My heart was filled with anger.
"Sarah..." Jack said holding me down.
"YOU SAY OKAY, BUT HE'S REALLY NOT! MY BROTHER IS IN PAIN AND JUST TESTIFIED TO ME AS IF HE WAS ABOUT TO DIE!" I yelled. "AND YOU WALK INTO THIS ROOM AND SAY HE'S OKAY!???"
"Mam I need you to calm down, we don't want the patient to lose hope-"
"HE ALREADY HAS!!!" I kissed Dillan on the head, hugged him, then walked out of the room.
"Sarah..." I heard Jack say.
He ran out of the room.
He grabbed my arm.
"Is that all you have to say!?" I asked in tears. "Sarah, Sarah, Sarah!? That's it!?"
The nurses watched as if we were a movie and they were the audience.
"Breathe..." He gestured.
"How can you tell me to breathe if my brother probably isn't?" I cried.
"He's fine..." He began.
"How can you even say that!?"
I twisted and turned in his arms trying to let loose.
He held me tight.
"SARAH!!!" I heard someone call.
Jack turned me around to face the exit doors.
Kaleb stood at the doors.
He ran over.
Jack let go and I jumped into my brothers arms.
"What are you doing here!?" I asked.
The doors opened again and my mom and Mr. Anderson walked in followed by the rest of the monkeys.
"Ask Jack." He said.
He let go and ran into Dillan's room.
I turned to face Jack.
"What?" I said.
"I payed for their tickets." He claimed.
"But why??"
"In moments like these, families should always be together." He smiled. "I'm sorry if I've overstepped or-"
I grabbed his face and kissed him.
He put his hands around my waist.
I let go.
I heard footsteps stop running.
"Thank you."
He then kissed me once more.
"Yes!!!" I heard someone yell.
I turned to see Dezhi's hands in the air.
We laughed.
**ring**
Jack pulled out his phone.
"I'll be back." He said.
He walked in the direction of the bathroom.
My mom rushed over to me and grabbed my arm and pulled me into Dillan's room.
"Sarah, what are you doing!?" She was concerned. "You have a boyfriend! You can't go around kissing anyone you want!"
Everyone listened in.
"Mom, I broke up with James." I explained.
"To be with Jack!? Sweetie that makes you look like-" She began.
"James cheated on me mom." I cut her off.
My mom looked at me with wide eyes.
"Oh when I find him I'll kill him and he'll see. You wanna know what I'll do to him-" Kaleb said angrily.
"Nothing." I jumped in. "Nobody is doing anything. If that's how he wants to live his life, that's how he will live his life. But what goes around, comes around."
"That's Mickey Mouse shiiiiiiiiiiiiii........." Caden said awkwardly.
Mr. Anderson glared at him.
"I'll go overthere." Caden mouthed as he gestured towards the other side of the room.
We all just laughed.
"So..." Shontelle began.
"So what?" I asked.
"Are you and Jack dating????" Skylar asked.
Everyone began staring.
I shook my head.
"Homey what are you doing!?" She asked. "Take your man before someone else does."
I sat there in wonder.
Jack may say he'd wait for me, but I can't count on that.
"Sarah I have to go." He said. "My parents and step dad are all in Utah. So I have to go see them."
"Wait your dads here!?" I asked.
"Yeah why?"
He turned beginning to walk out the door.
"Nothing." I smiled. "Have fun. I love you-"
He walked out.
I quickly shut my mouth.
Those words did not just come out of my mouth.
Everyone's jaws dropped.
Jack came back in.
I blushed.
He grabbed my face and gave me a kiss.
"Eww yall's are going to get STD's!" Caden said.
"What are STD's?" Dezhi and Damien asked.
"Nothing babies." Kaleb said closing their eyes and pulling them away.
Jack pulled away.
"Don't be afraid to say it." He smiled. "I love you too!"
He walked out of the room.
"That. Was. Digusting." Caden said.
I stuck my tongue out at him.
"What do you want me to rip off that tongue of your's? Cause I will." He said.
I rolled my eyes and laughed.
I always felt these little butterflies in my stomach whenever we kissed.
Something I never had with James.
Something I'd like to start with someone.
Someone real.
Someome like Jack.
