"What do you mean he disappeared?" My voice came out louder than I expected it to, "How the hell did he disappear?"
Kira and Scott shared a look before turning their attention back to me. I raised my brows, waiting for them to explain the situation.
Kira sighed and began telling me about the history of the Nogitsune. About the camp. About her mother, who apparently was around 900 years old. How she vengefully called down for the Nogitsune to possess her as she laid next to the body of Rhys, the man she loved, along with several others. How the Nogitsune being the trickster that it is possessed his body instead.
"So you went with befriending the coyote then," I said as she told me about Malia. About how she and Stiles managed to get into the basement at Eichen and found Rhys' bandaged body along with a picture in his pocket of him and Kira's mother. Leading us to this moment.
I felt a lump form in my throat and pressure in my chest causing me to feel slightly lightheaded. I sat back down on my bed and looked up at my friends, "Does this mean that...he's gone?"
Kira sat down next to me, wrapping an arm around me, "We'll get him back."
"I won't let anything happen to him. It's going to be okay," Scott said, worry visible in his eyes.
I exhaled loudly and looked between the two, "I need to tell you something and it's going to sound crazy."
Before I have the chance to tell them about the new information I had received from my mother the night before, Scott's phone buzzes and he quickly picks it up, "They're meeting at Derek's loft, we need to go."
Kira and I rise from the bed and follow Scott down the stairs. I yell out a quick bye at my dad but don't wait for a response as we sprint outside and into Kira's car.
We sped through town and I could feel my anxiety pumping in my chest as we got closer to the loft.
The second the car slowed down I opened the door and flew out, all of us running upstairs.
I halt by the doorway and see Allison, her father Chris, Derek and the Sheriff facing a different kind of Stiles.
Chris pulls out a gun and turns it on the Nogitsune who is looking back at him amused. I get closer to the scene.
"Put the gun down," The Sheriff says.
"Why?" Chris asks, his gaze still focused on Stiles, "I've done it before. Werewolf, Berserkers. I can easily add a Nogitsune to the list."
The Sheriff pulls his gone on him, the Nogitsune looking at the scene in front of him with delight, "You're not gonna shoot my son."
I try to yell out at them to stop, but my voice doesn't seem to be working.
"He's not your son, you said so yourself," Chris adds, still not breaking eyes contact.
"Put the gun down!" The Sheriff bellows. I try to speak again, but nothing comes out.
Suddenly the Nogitsune speaks using Stiles' voice, "Dad, he's gonna shoot me. He's gonna kill me, dad."
As the Sheriff continues to shout at Chris, Stiles turns his attention to the hunter as well, taunting him, "Shoot me. Shoot me!"
My voice comes out as a whisper and the voices start sounding as if they were far away. It starts getting dark outside.
I look around the room and suddenly feel like screaming, "STOP!"
My voice echoes throughout the room and I watch as everyone looks up in surprise as the big windows break and explode, glass filling the loft.
It's silent for a moment and then the Nogitsune says, "Not exactly what I was expecting, but I'm glad you all have your guns out because you're not here to kill me. You're here to protect me."
Four Oni then materialize inside the loft.
