Chapter 14: Party Time
As Tessa walked closer to the front door the music got louder and she could now hear loud voices. She had been to parties before, just not like this she didn't know what to expect. Eventually she worked up her courage and put her hand on the doorknob. When she tried to pull the door it opened quickly and she noticed that someone was opening it from outside. The force of the person knocked her back on the ground.
The person on the other side of the door walked in, "Oh god, I'm so sorry. Are you ok?" Tessa looked up to see a girl standing over her. The other girl reached her have down to help Tessa up.
Once standing up Tessa replied, "Yeah I'm fine," and she went to walk out again but the other girl's voice stopped her.
"Hey I haven't seen you around I'm Brianna but everyone calls me Bri. You must be the new girl right, the one they threw the party for. Let me introduce you to some of my friends if you let Derek and Conrad show you around you will be with all guys, come on. I forgot what I came in here for anyways." Bri began to walk out when she turned around, "Oh by the way you look gorgeous, your hair looks so pretty. What's your name?"
Tessa smiled at Bri's ramblings it reminded her of what Ava used to do when she would get excited. She couldn't remember what Ava did that was so bad anymore. "Ive been so rude, sorry well I'm Tessa. Its really nice to meet you. I would love to meet some of your friends though I like hanging out with the guys I really miss talking with some girls. I don't want to intrude though are you sure they will be alright with me joining them?"
Bri laughed, "Oh come on they will love you. There over here." As Brianna pulled Tessa to where her friends were Tessa noticed that Bri was pretty. With her hazel eyes, dark brown wavy hair, and bright smile she was pretty and she seemed pretty nice. It was funny her personality actually reminded Tessa of Ava's but also a little bit of Derek's. Bri had this easy way about her a certain kind of charm just like Derek.
They finally made it to the corner of the yard and Tessa noticed how different the front lawn looked. There were rows of lights strung through the trees and overhead. Tables and chairs were set up all around. On the side of the porch the were speakers that were blasting music. Kids were all around dancing and talking everyone was having fun.
Tessa took in the three girls standing before her one had straight golden colored hair and was on the shorter side but still pretty. The girl on her right had light blonde hair that was curly and to her shoulders, what stood out were her bright blue eyes. And the other girl was taller than the other two and had pin straight chocolate brown hair, really all three girls were very pretty.
Even when Tessa was in front of them they didn't notice her at first and Tessa heard part of their conversation. The one with golden hair said, "...come on we all know Channing is one of the cutest guys ever, it's a fact."
The girl with the straight brown hair agreed, "Yes, that's what I said he is the cutest guy ever but if we met him which one of us would he date? I think it would be me."
The girl with golden hair just laughed and said sarcastically, "Yeah right, he would pick you when there's me he could have."
The other girl with the curly blonde hair rolled her eyes at her friends, "You know what you guys can have him because I want Zac Efron, he is way cuter anyways."
The other two now started arguing with the blonde on how Channing Tatum is way hotter than Zac Efron. Now Bri cleared her throat to get her friends' attention. The three arguing girls turned to Bri and asked what she thought she said Channing. Finally they noticed me and Bri introduced me. "Girls this is Tessa. Tessa the girl with the golden hair is Shawna, the one with brown hair is Gracen, and the blondie is Jolee." Tessa laughed at the way Bri described the girls.
Going back to their conversation Jolee asked Tessa who she thought was hotter Zac or Channing? "Well of course Zac Efron is hotter have you seen the Lucky One, I mean Channing Tatum is hot but Zac Efron has those amazing blue eyes." Tessa said.
Jolee said, "I like this girl already." Shawna and Gracen just rolled their eyes but still smiled at their friend. The argument continued for a little while longer, Tessa adding her input as well, until finally Bri had enough.
"Come on guys, lets just agree that they are both equally hot and move on with our lives." They all agreed for the most part and turned to question Tessa.
The five girls pulled up chairs and Shawna spoke,"Ok Tessa everyone in town has been talking about why you are here and why you are staying with the Castin's. So were your friends right?" Tessa nodded not knowing where this was going.
Gracen continued for Shawna,"What Shawna's trying to say is please tell us why you are here and how you ended up staying with Carter's family."
Tessa told a version of the story, "You see I'm parents think that apparently I've changed from being nice to stuck up so they have sent me here to live with my godmother and her family for the summer. Which is Mrs. Cassie and Carter and Mr. John. Then I became friends with Derek and Conrad and eventually Carter to met the kids in the town they decided to throw me a party and now were here."
"Well if it helps we don't think that you are stuck up at all. At least I think you are really nice. What do you guys think, isn't she nice?" Bri asked.
The other girls all replied that they thought Tessa was a nice girl. After that was all cleared up the girls decided to continue questioning her. Jolee asked, "So are you dating anyone if so who?"
Tessa blushed and said, "No I've had a few boyfriends but nothing serious. What about all of you, do you have boyfriends?"
Gracen and Jolee shook their heads no but Shawna spoke, "Yeah I have a boyfriend his name is Hayden. See over there in that group of boys, the tall one is Hayden." As she said his name she smiled and the other girls laughed at their friend.
Then Bri with a grim smile on her face said, "Well there is this guy that I like, and he likes me but my brother won't let me date him. He said that if we do date then he would make up a reason that we shouldn't and tell our parents."
"Oh I see that you were talking about me my lovely little sis."
Bri replied, "I'm only younger than you by three minutes, so your not really that much older." Then she stuck her tongue out at him.
Tessa turned to see who it was. She couldn't help but think that the voice sounded familiar.
When she saw who it was her jaw dropped. He said, "Oh hey Tessa I hope Bri wasn't telling you bad things about me right?"
Recovering from her shock she said, "Derek you never told me that you had a twin sister. Were you planning on telling me?" Tessa was a little miffed at him. Her she was going to tell him the reason she changed, which no one else knew. Yet he didn't think that she deserved to at least know he had a sister let alone a twin sister.
Now Derek was the shocked one. "I was going to tell you. But it would have been a little strange if I was like, "Hey Tessa by the way I have a twin sister named Bri." Anyways are you enjoying the party? I hope so, well I promised the guys I would be right back, I'll see you later Tessa. Bye Shawna, Jolee, Gracen, and Bri." He then rubbed the back of his neck and walked away.
As soon as Derek was far enough way that he couldn't hear them, the girls turned back to Tessa. "So, you and Derek, umhum. When I asked if you were dating anyone, that included if you liked anyone." Said Jolee.
A blush stained Tessa's cheeks. "What are you talking about I don't like Derek. Well not that way, we are just friends."
This made Bri laugh her twinkling laugh. "Ok let's pretend that anyone of us believe you. Even so that doesn't mean that he doesn't like you."
"Derek doesn't like me, I would be able to tell," Tessa exclaimed.
The girls smiled knowingly, and Bri continued, "Listen Tessa, I know my brother he is my twin for God's sake, I can tell when he likes someone. From what I can tell he likes you a lot, but probably doesn't want to ruin your friendship, if you don't feel the same way. All I ask is that if you do end up together be careful."
Tessa smiled slightly, "Don't worry I will be."
"Oh I don't mean be careful of him. Although he may seem like a player, he's really sweet and would be heartbroken if you said no. Now I'm not saying for you to go out with him because I say so. But if you don't want to just, please, let him down easy." Tessa nodded.
Breaking the moment Gracen interrupted them. "Not that this isn't very touching and sweet, cause it is. But can we move onto less heavy subjects. And leave it at this,Derek is a sweet guy who likes Tessa, and Tessa is a nice girl that is unsure about her feelings towards Derek. Now what are we doing tomorrow night?"
They conversed for a while on this subject until they decided they would see a movie in town at seven and grab dinner before. Shawna mentioned, "Oh Tessa if your free, why don't you come with us. The Castin's don't do farm work on weekends right?"
"No they don't. Thanks for inviting me, I'm pretty sure they don't have anything planned, but I'll ask Mrs. Cassie tomorrow." Replied Tessa.
All of them exchanged numbers and Bri decided to introduce Tessa to some other people before the party was over. When Tessa checked her phone for the time she couldn't believe it was already eleven, the night was going by so fast. She was glad that she met some girl friends. Although she liked the guys she needed some girl time once and a while.
Bri brought Tessa around and introduced her to many more groups of people. So many people that Tessa was having a hard time remembering all of the names of everyone she met. Except of course Shawna, Bri, Jolee, and Gracen, she could already tell they would be good friends. Just then a thought crossed her mind, what would happen to her and her new friends after the summer was over she only had a few weeks left at the farm. Would she have to come back next year, would she want to?
Before Tessa knew it the party was winding down. Another hour and a half had passed without her even realizing it. Now the boys were taking everything down and most of the people had left. She hugged Bri,Shawna, Jolee, and Gracen goodbye before they left. Tessa couldn't believe how tired she was.
Tessa was sitting on the last chair underneath a large oak tree. The boys had decided to leave the lights up as a surprise for Mrs. Cassie. Carter came over to sit next to her on the ground. She didn't even realize that he was there until he spoke. "Tessa I hope that you had fun tonight I tried to find you but I kept getting distracted. I meant to tell you that you look really nice tonight." He smiled at her then stood up and dusted off his pants. "Tessa aren't you coming inside?"
"I'll be inside in a little bit I just want to enjoy this beautiful night a little longer. It's ok though you go inside." She waved at him to go.
As she sat there she couldn't help but wonder if her life would have been different, if she had grown up knowing Carter and his parents. Would she be a different person?
If the Castin's had never moved away then she would have never met anyone from this small town. Although she hadn't been here long, she couldn't help but feel attached to the people who she had met here.

I made this chapter long and I hope you liked it. I wanted to introduce some new characters they are based off some of my friends. Actually the conversation on who was hotter Zac or Channing I had with some of my friends. It was funny how serious we took it and how long it lasted.

Looking back at my first six chapters I want to apologize because I realized that they aren't that good, but thanks for reading my story anyways. I love my viewers thank you so much for staying with this story. I have an idea for another story so I am going to start writing that but probably not going to post it until I have a few chapters already written. Don't worry I am going to continue this story.
