Damian woke me up early for school and I groggily turned over, to find him resting on the bed, a book on his chest.
"How long have you been there?" I asked, blushing slightly.
Damian chuckled. "A few hours."
I stared at him. "Why?"
He shrugged. "Why not?"
"Um, I don't know," I responded, grinning slightly.
He smiled back and sat up. He leaned over me and kissed my forehead. "Anyways, it's time to get ready for school."
I groaned. "I hate Mondays."
He smiled, but said nothing in return, still leaning over me. I stared at him, resisting the urge to reach up and kiss him. Suddenly the door burst open and I jumped, knocking my head on his rock hard chin.
There was an overdramatic gasp. I rolled my eyes.
"What were you two doing?" Dustin asked, his face contorted in mock horror.
"Dustin, get out," I ordered, scowling at him. "Why must you barge in here all the time?"
Dustin snorted. "To make sure he isn't eating you."
Damian smiled slightly at Dustin. "I wouldn't."
"While you can keep control of yourself," Dustin returned.
It was silent for a minute, Dustin glaring at Damian, Damian smiling politely at Dustin. I cleared my throat and their attention snapped to me.
"I've got to get ready for school... could you both please leave?"
Dustin grinned and nodded, beckoning his hand towards Damian. "Let's go, bloodsucker."
Damian slightly shook his head before grinning at me. "I'll be downstairs when you're ready."
I quickly hopped in the shower and dressed myself, going down to the kitchen. Callie stood with her arms crossed, growling at Ayden. Ayden looked exasperated.
"I hope you're not hungry," he told me. "Callie ruined your breakfast."
"I didn't ruin it!" she denied, shaking her head at me.
I stared at them quizzically.
"I, with my awesome expertise, was going to make you and Dustin breakfast, however Callie decided to take over and..."
I followed Ayden's gaze as it lowered to the table. I gave it one look and laughed. Whatever it was, it looked like charcoal.
"It's okay, I'm not that hungry," I responded, grinning.
"I am though," a new voice said from behind me.
I sighed. Sometimes Dustin had no manners. I shot him a dirty look and he grinned at me.
"I think we have bagels in the cupboard..." Ayden told Dustin, gesturing towards the cupboard behind him.
Dustin went over to the cupboard and looked around it a bit. "Ew." He pulled out a plastic bag that looked like it was filled with green and white muck.
I covered my mouth. "Ew."
Ayden laughed. "Never mind."
"Don't worry, I've got it covered."
I turned to see Damian carrying a box from Dunkin' Doughnuts. Dustin tried to look angry, but failed, and looked extremely eager. Damian, being polite, offered him the box. Dustin took it right away.
"We should eat in the car, I've got to get to school early today, so unless you guys want to walk, I suggest we get going."
We trudged to the car and it was a pretty silent ride. There was a light drizzle and I watched mindlessly as the wipers slowly went back and forth. I loved rainy days like this, and yet I hated them. Something bad always happens on rainy days.
"What's Kale doing today?"
I jumped slightly at the sudden question made by Callie. I stared at her for a second, when I realized something. If Kale was Damian's twin... why didn't he go to school like normal people?
"He's bumming around as usual," Damian muttered darkly.
"Why doesn't he go to school?" I asked, not talking to anyone in particular.
Ayden grinned. "He thinks it's a waste of time."
"And it's not like he has anything better to do," Damian offered, shaking his head.
"Oh," I responded.
Kale was lucky. High school was such a drag.
The conversation died quick, but luckily we were pulling into the school parking lot. Ayden dropped us off in front before going to park in the teacher's lot. I followed Dustin and Damian into the school building and headed towards homeroom.
The time before homeroom went by quickly, and when the bell rang Ayden still hadn't returned. I glanced at the clock. He was only a few minutes late. Damian played with my hair, earning me envious glares from behind.
I rolled my eyes. When did he become so popular? I hadn't even noticed. I glanced at him. It wasn't too hard to believe why he became popular because he had the looks of a move star. And movie stars have tons of work done to them to make them look good for the most part.
"Sorry I'm late," Ayden apologized, entering the room. "I had to go track down the new kid."
"New kid?" the class echoed.
"Come in," Ayden called, gesturing for someone to come in.
Light brown messy hair met my gaze and my breath caught in my throat. Slowly, he raised his head and his golden, flaked eyes were visible. He looked directly at me and grinned.
I stared back, horror washing through me. He was the vampire that had attacked me at the store.
"Hello."
"Class, this is Reilly Switsun. He's a transfer student from Colorado, please make him feel welcomed."
The class murmured their greetings and Reilly grinned at each of them in return. I stared at him, frozen in shock. Damian pulled my hair gently and I jumped, turning to look at him.
"Mesmerized by his looks?" Damian whispered, a small smile on his face.
I shook my head violently. "What? No!"
Damian chuckled. "I was just kidding."
I flushed and scowled at Damian, who kept smiling.
"Madison," Ayden called. "Would you do me a favor...?"
"Depends."
Ayden smiled slightly. I sometimes forgot I had to teach him like a teacher in school.
"Uh, sorry Mr. Weiss, I mean, of course," I said quickly.
"I would like you to show Reilly around today. Help him get to his classes and stuff. Could you do that for me?"
I stared at him speechlessly. I had to go around with him? That was like, a death wish. Didn't they know? I quickly shot a glance at Reilly, who gave me a friendly smile. I forced a half-smile back and nodded reluctantly to Ayden.
"S'pose I have to," I muttered, running a hand through my hair.
"Great. Then right now he needs to go to the counselor's office. Could you show him the way?"
Alone with him already? I begrudgingly nodded my head and stood up. I hoisted my backpack over my back.
"Bye," I whispered to Damian.
"See you soon," he responded with a smile.
I trudged towards the door, Reilly falling into step behind me. I pretended not to acknowledge him. He was silent when we started walking down the hall. I wanted to turn and look at him to see what he was doing. Wasn't he going to threaten me? But... what if I threatened him before he threatened me?
As we turned the corner into the secluded hallway where the counselor's office was, I twirled on my heel coming face to face with Reilly's impassive expression.
"If you think you are going to threaten me before I threaten you, don't count on it," Reilly spoke just as I opened my mouth.
"Well why not?"
Reilly smirked. "You were probably going to say something along the lines like 'If you hurt Dustin I'll tell everyone what you are' right?"
I stared at him, slightly miffed.
"Can you read minds?"
Reilly snorted. "No."
I relaxed slightly. "What are you doing here?"
"Getting my high school education, obviously," Reilly responded. "And I want you to be my best friend."
"No!" I responded, crossing my arms. "You're blackmailing me!"
Reilly shrugged. "And? You might as well be nice, it might be suspicious if you are mean to me, right?"
"I'm not being nice," I said stubbornly. Who was he kidding? He was obviously plotting something.
"I bet you're thinking that I'm going to do something to Dustin, right?"
I nodded slightly.
"Well you're right."
I frowned. "I know."
Reilly smirked and shrugged. "I thought I might have a little bit of fun with it, since I'm bored."
"What are you going to do?"
"Go into the counselor's office," Reilly told me just as the counselor's door opened.
A tall young woman, Ms. Watkins, came out with a perpetual smile on her face. I half-smiled back. No one really liked the counselors.
"You must be Reilly," she greeted Reilly, taking his hand. "Nice to meet you."
Reilly greeted her back pleasantly and I rolled my eyes. I was dismissed with a copy of Reilly's schedule. I trudged slowly to class, frowning hard. Why had he come to school?
I couldn't even begin to think of a single reason why he'd want to come and actually go to high school. I rubbed my head, entering math.
"There's something suspicious about that new kid," a smooth voice said from next to me.
I jumped slightly. "T-there is?"
Damian raised an eyebrow. "Sorry I didn't mean to scare you."
"S'ok," I responded with a shrug. "I was just surprised."
"But anyways," Damian continued following me to my seat. "There's something about him..."
"Something like what?" I responded eagerly. Maybe Damian on his own could find out he was a vampire!
Damian shrugged. "I don't know... he just seems..."
"What?"
"Evil," Damian replied with a frown.
Oh, how correct he was. And I couldn't tell him.
You know what I love about staying for a long time after a concert ends? When all the bands are outside, and you get to hang out with them. Holy shit. EVERY SINGLE BAND WAS OUTSIDE. All of them!!! Get Scared, Modern Day Escape, Vampire's Everywhere! And.... BLACK VEIL BRIDES! Omggg, it was fricking amazing. At first, BVB wasn't outside so my friend and I hung out with Nick from Get Scared, and we talked. And I learned some things about Ronnie Radke I rather have not known =/ but then the rest of the band came over and that was fun. Then they had to pack up, so they had to. So me and my friend continued down the street and we saw a friend we made in line talking to Zak from Vampire's Everywhere. Omg, he's so hot lol. And he's so funny!! We were like all talking, and our friend was telling this really funny. And he wouldn't stop laughing and he had the cutest laugh. And then I wanted him to sign my CD, but I couldn't open it because of the tape and stuff so he just takes it out of my hand and like, breaks it in half I was like ......... And he just started laughing again and I didn't understand why, until he took off the tape and put the case back together. I forgot you could do that -__- but then my friend was like "Ohhh man! You looked so sexy opening that CD!" and Zak was like "oh really?" and lol, he opened another, but like, he was flipping his hair, trying to be sexy. And it was so funny. But yeah, so we hung out with him for awhile. Then he had to go help his band, so we turned the corner... and BAM! There's Andy six. Now, I had got a picture with him already, because there was a meet and greet. But NO ONE was talking to him. He was just standing at the corner of the street, smoking a cigarette. So I went up and asked him for another picture, and he was like sure, and I took another pic, but it was a cell pic and you can barely see. But so we talked to him for awhile and he went on this whole rant about how much he liked honey lol. For like, ten minutes. And those of you who know him, know how sexy his voice is. It was amazing. And then he introduced us to the rest of the band. And Sandra called me cute! :D I was like holy crap. She's so short! but yeah, I got a pic with her. And we hung out for awhile, but other people came over by now so we are like, ok see you later. I mean, talking to Andy for like twenty minutes made my life. But we ran into Zak again and he remembered our names and he was like "Jordan, Cheyenne! Meet the rest of the band!" and I was like YESSSS. The lead singer is pretty hot too. But not as much as Zak
