" In the case of Mr.Wright vs Young the jury find the defendant guilty." The man said
Guilty ? How the fuck? All they had was a fucking phone call that proved nothing. This shit wasn't adding up
" We sentence Mr Wright to 6 months in the county jail ." She banged the gravel dismissing the courtroom
" I don't see how they found you guilty. Some fishy going on. I'm going to get to the bottom of it . Don't worry." Dillan said before standing up
I wasn't stun nothing he was saying. I just got sentence 6 months that ain't shit but it something when your girl pregnant and was due in 4 months. I looked backed at Hennessy and tears were rolling down her cheeks.
" Stop crying love. Dillan gone get it fixed and I'll be home before you know it okay ? I promise ." I said before they came handcuffing me taking me to the back
" NO WAIT ! PLEASE ! I NEED HIM ! I CAN'T DO THIS WITHOUT HIM !" She started telling when they came to take me to the back
" Ma'am please calm down and exit the court room." One of the officers said nudging her
" AY DON'T FUCKING TOUCH HER !" I yelled trying to get out of the two policemen grip
" Ro . Chill ! We got her . Don't get yourself any deeper int his shit." Aug said
I calm down as they took me to the back but before the doors closed I seen Aug,Q and Kindell bucking on the officers.
Hennessy POV
I just wanted to go home. I didn't want to talk to anyone and I didn't want to be bothered. This has been the worst year of my life. Everything went wrong in my life in 11 months. It was like I got pass one obstacle to get hit in the face with another. 6 months was no time but it was also a long time when you're due to have twins in 4 months and you're kids father was in jail. Roman was going to miss the birth of his first borns. I was going to have to go through my delivery without him being there to hold my hand or guide me through it. I was fed up with all the drama that kept occurring in my life. I walked to the truck getting in the backseat shutting the door. My 20th Birthday was in 2 months and I couldn't even spend it with the love of my life. I wanted so badly to cry but I honesty was tired of crying. They were still standing outside arguing with the police officers from inside the courtroom. I got comfortable in my seat feeling my body get tired. I was tired of stressing, tired of crying, tired of everything . I just wanted to rest.
Detective Von
" Good work Michael here's that grand I owe you." I said sitting a suitcase on the hood of his car
" Grand ? I told you to make it three . When you brought me that shitty ass evidence I told you it wouldn't be enough to find him guilty alone . I had to convince the rest of the jury members as well. Make it three grand by tomorrow afternoon or you'll be sorry." He said grabbing the suit case and getting in his car
If he thought he was getting another two grand from me he was out of his damn mind. He only got him sentence to 6 months. What the fuck was 6 months ! He'd be back on the streets in no time while my sister and brother would still be dead. I walked back towards my charger seeing the same group of people giving the policeman a hard time .
" Alright folks show is over . Please exist the premise now ." I said
" Who the fuck you suppose to be ? King Triton ?" A light skinned one said
" Naw he that crook ass Detective who picked Ro up on that bogus ass charge. You know what fuck you! He'll be home ." A tall one said
" This will be my last time saying please exit the premise nicely before things get handled a different way ." I said
" Come on . Let's just go . We already have enough going on ." The short female said pulling on the light skin boy arm
They started to walk away and I walked towards my truck.
Dillan's POV
I walked into the house throwing my keys on the small stand by the door . I loosened my tie and headed upstairs when I heard Eve called my name from the kitchen . I walked in the kitchen seeing her take a pan out the oven.
" How did it go ?" She asked
" 6 months. They charged him 6 months." I sighed
" 6 months ? On a murder charge ?" She asked looking confused " If they found him guilty of a murder his sentence should be longer. It's something weird about that." She said stirring the pot
" I know and I'm going to look into it. My former partner Jenny is one of the jury member's neighbor and I'm going to go over to see if she can pull any information out of him." I said leaning on the island
" Hennessy must be heartbroken . I'm going to call and check on her after dinner." She said
I felt bad I couldn't get him completely off considering everything Hennessy and him had going on at the moment but I was going to look into this trial. I wasn't giving up yet.
Roman's POV
I was sitting on my bunk writing my first letter to Hennessy. I ain't know if I would spend the entire 6 months in here or not but I was hoping like hell I wasn't . I know she going through so many emotions right now and I'm worried for the babies sake. Last thing I need is to be lock down in here and hearing bad news about my kids, not this time. After I finished my letter I put it under my pillow until the morning. Since I was in the county jail it wouldn't take her no time to receive my letters. My cell mate Donte was walking in as I was sitting back down .
" You ready to do this ?" He asked me
" Lets get it over with for today." I said standing up
We got on the floor in push up position. Donte been in here for a year now and he said doing exercise every now and then would release some of the stress and shit that's what I needed right now . A stress reliever. Donte was charged with murder and possession of a stolen handgun. He had another year in here. After 30 push ups we switched to sit ups.
" 6 months huh ?" He asked
" Hell Yea . They hit me with some humbug ass evidence." I said doing the sit ups
" What kind ?" He asked
" A fucking 3 minute phone call ." I said
" Hell Naw mane!" He laughed " I would've bucked on they ass "
" Shit I wasn't complaining better than what I could've had . My only thing is the phone call didn't prove shit. Some up." I said
" Hell Yea . You gone allow your baby mama to visit ?" He asked before we switched spots
" What you mean ?" I asked
" Some niggas don't let they baby mama visit. Don't want her or the kids to see em like a caged animal." He said
I could hear the change in his voice so I knew he was talking about his self.
" Yea imma let her visit but she ain't had my babies yet even if she did I'll still let em visit." I said " What youn let yours visit ?"
" Nuh" He said
" Man you tripping . You probably think you doing the right thing but you really hurting them. They wanna see ya let em see ya." I said
" It ain't that easy mane. I got a li boy and ion want em see me in this shit and feel like what I'm doing right. Ion want em to ever see what the inside of a jail look like." He said
" I understand but ay look you only got a few more months. Let em visit and by time he old enough to know he won't even remember even visiting you in here." I said
He nodded and we started doing pull ups on the rod in the cell.
Hennessy POV
I was laying down in my bed watching tv and eating ice. I had just got off the phone with my Aunt and she was telling me how Dillan thought it was some sneaky going on with the trial today. I honestly believed it . I don't know much about the lawyer business but I do know calling someone hours before they're missing isn't enough to charge you with murder. Seeing Roman all chained up made me regret everything we did 2 months ago. I was the reason my man was in jail right now. I should've just stayed home. I pulled out my phone going through our snaps reminiscing. Tears started to roll down my cheeks as a smile spread across my lips. This was going to be a long 6 months without him. There was a knock at my door and the girls walked in.
" Hey sunshine. How you feeling ?" Kindell asked sitting on my bed
" I'm fine " I said locking my phone
" You sure ? If you want to talk we're here ." Nadia said
" I'm sure . I mean like there's nothing to talk about. He's in jail and right now there's nothing we can do but pray and hope for the best ." I said
" That's good Hennessy . I swear ion know how you do it ." Kindell said
" Do what ?" I asked
" Be so positive and strong all the time. You never let nothing stop you from keep going ." She said
" Can't look back because I can't go that way. Only way I can go is forward." I said making some click in my head
" Do you know when they a let him start having visitors ?" Nadia asked
" No but I'm sure he'll tell me everything when he calls." I said
It got quiet before I spoke again
" You guys I don't want to be fucked up over this cause I know Roman wouldn't want me to be. I don't want to be sad these entire 6 months. Sitting in my room crying or mopping around. I want to move past this and be a better person when he comes home. I want to keep his businesses running smoothly and his money coming in, I want to still continue my classes but online until after the twins, and I want to have the nursery already done ." I said
" Okay we can help you with that. We can go and re enrolled you tomorrow." Kindell said
" Yea and we can finish the nursery after the baby shower." Nadia chimed in
" And we gone make sure them businesses 100% straight so don't even worry about that." Aug said him and Q walking in the room
" Thank you guys. For everything ." I said
They all hugged me at once making me fall over on the bed. We talked some more before going to get dinner started.
Roman's POV
I was sitting in the cafeteria playing with the food on my tray. They wasn't lying when they said jail food was shitty. I had to hurry up and get my shit set up so I can get money on it to buy snacks and my own phone. Donte had to be use to it cause he was fucking it up. I saw a female officer coming towards our table. She was short and light skinned with long read hair. She had a nice shape and deep dimples.
" You came to check in with daddy ?" Donte asked her making her smack her lips
" Mr Brown if I told you once I've told you a thousand times, stop harassing the female officers." She said
" Wasn't harass lastnight when I had you bent over the laundry basket." He said doing a dance making me laugh
" See that's why ion mess with you." She said laughing a little " Who's the fresh meat ?"
" Guh you love a nigga but this my homie Roman ." He said " Ro this Jade. I mean Officer Pickett"
" And I ain't fresh meat either." I said
" Ain't it ? Tf she saying bruh ? Say my nigga fresh meat unless you talking about for you to suck." He said making a gesture making me laugh again
" My bad then . Roman was it ?" She asked making me nod
" And ion want my meat sucked either ." I said throwing my fork across the table at Donte
" My fault. My fault. Forgot you got a ole lady back home. More jaws for me ." He said making me crack up some more
" Donte shut up." She said hitting him with her police stick " If you need anything Roman just give me a request " she said before walking away and hitting Donte with the stick again
" AY ! Keep hitting me with that stick imma stick it up ya ass !" He yelled after her
This nigga was a fool. He reminded me of a dark skinned Aug. Damn I missed my folks back home.
" Why you always playing ?" I asked him
" Shit its all you can do in here to keep from being depressed. Ain't no need sitting here mad at the world or thinking about when we going home we here midazwell get comfortable." He said making me think
We got escorted back to our cells. They asked for mail to be shipped out in the morning and I passed my letter through the gates. I did my 30 push-ups, sit-ups and pull -ups before laying back on my bunk. Hennessy was on my mind heavy . I started to think about what she said about leaving the game. If this was where it would lead me to in the long run it wasn't worth it. Being away from her and my kids wasn't worth any job or any amount of money. Crazy it took me to get locked up to see that. I was ready for these 6 months to be over . I was gone walk out of here a new man. I was going to let this be a lesson I was actually going to learn from well after I put a couple hot bullets in Detective Von head. I was going to miss out on the birth of my kids because of his weak ass evidence and I wasn't letting that shit slide. That was a moment I couldn't get back and I wanted his life for it. I was laying back with my hand behind my head talking shit with Donte when there were a tap on our cell .
" They doing a random check in the morning so gone give it to me ." She said
" Damn for what ?" Donte asked handing her a small bag from out of a small hole in the wall he covered with a picture
" Hell I don't know . They were just talking about it . Is that all ?" She said
" Yea mane . Ay ! Bring my shit back !" He said
She stuck her middle finger up before leaving .
" Wassup with y'all ?" I asked
" We been fucking around for almsot a year now. She cool people and she keep a nigga mind open. She smart and she look out for me ." He said
" You feeling her or some ? " I asked
" Some like that. Ion really take females serious." He said
" What about yo baby mama ?" I asked him
" We ain't together. We cool as fuck though. We don't fuck or nun like that just co-parenting." He said
" She seem like a good girl. She willing to put her job on the line for ya that's some down ass shit." I said
" I know but I'll never let her loose her job over me . We ever get caught I'll take full blame and even take more time if they give it to me ." He said
" Man you love that girl " I said making us laugh
" Nuh man, it ain't like that . I got feelings for her but love . That's some shit ion know how to feel ." He said
" You already feeling it dawg " I said
" How you knew you was in love with yo shorty ?" He asked me
" When I was willing to put everything on the line for her. Ain even know her that long and I was ready to put a bullet in anybody and take one from anybody for her." I said
" Damn" He said
" What ?" I asked
" I guess I feel some for her then. Shit maybe when I get out in 4 months I'll fuck with her on that level." He said
An idea popped into my head .
" Ay you think she'll let me use her phone ?" I asked
Hennessy POV
It was going on 10:30 and I was just getting out the shower. I was putting on my robe when my phone started to ring. I looked at the number and it was a unknown number I declined it. The number called right back and I answered this time .

Me - Look I don't know how the fuck this is but can you please stop calling my damn phone this time of night !
Roman - I like that . I like that . Be hard on them niggas just like that *laughs a little *
Me - oh my god Roman . How are you calling me ?
Roman - I got a connection. How you doing ?
Me - I'm fine. I miss you though
Roman - I miss you more Cece . What's been going on
Me - Nothing really. Dillan said he got you. Oh and I decided to go back to school but take the classes online until a little after the twins are born
Roman - I hope so and I'm proud of you and I'm glad you ain't letting this set back put yo life on pause
Me - Thanks Ro. When do your book get set up so I can put money on it for your own phone
Roman - I don't know . Maybe tomorrow though
Me - What did yall eat tonight ?
Roman - I ain't shit.
Me - *laughs* You better not be starving yourself
Roman - Nuh just waiting for my shit to get set up. I been exercising though
