When we're about to finally step out of the building, Lani exclaimed.
"By the way, Haelly's here."
"She's here!?"
"Yeah, she's already staying at your booth."

I started to panic, Shawn will see her and he doesn't even have a clue that I'm not handling the booth alone and I'm sharing it with his ex.

The open field's occupied with so many students and teachers, it's like a grand celebration.
It looks fun enough to forget school troubles, to unwind and just enjoy the moments.

Lani came to help the other representatives while I ran quickly to Shawn's side.
"Hey, you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, why'd you asked love cake?"
"Nothing.. Lani thought you were upset."
"A little bit, yeah."
"Why?"
"We were so close.. and she just ruined it."
"Baby cakes," I cling around his free arm, "She doesn't have any idea that you're there, being so corny with this rose you gave me."
He laughs lightly, "Tell me you didn't like it."
"I did. You're so corny it's funny.. and cute."

My answer was cut off when Haelly shouted from the short distance across the three of us.

Shawn stood freeze as his eyes gazed, "What is she doing there?!"
"She was assigned to handle the booth with me."
"And you didn't tell me?"
"I'm sorry, I'm about to, it's just that I'm kind of a.. scared."
"Scared of what?"
"Trouble. I just wanna survive this event, trouble free from Haelly."
He didn't answer.
I slide and rub my hand on his arm, I looked at him with puppy eyes, "Please? Baby cakes?" I said with tenderness in my voice.
He breathes and sighed through his nose, he looks back into my eyes, finally, a smile formed on his lips, "Fine.. I understand love cake."
"Thank you.. can I have my things now, please?"
"Yeah.." he nods, "..of course."
