(Barbara got inside the house and calls out for Jim.)

Barbara: "Dad? Are you here?" (He looked around and saw a note on the fridge.)

Barbara: "Oh, he left a note." (She picks it up to read it and it has really nice handwriting.)

**Jim: "Babs, you're probably wondering where I am right now. I'm doing police work and it's very tiring. I wish I was home with you, but you know what officers say, duty calls. So, I bought you two frozen mini pizzas in case you get hungry tonight or later. I won't be home till late again. Make sure you get some good rest and I love you. -Your father." (Barbara smiled at the note.)

Barbara: "Two frozen pizzas, huh? But what kind of pizzas, dad?" (She took a peek in the fridge and saw pepperoni and regular cheese pizzas.)

Barbara: "Nice, my two favorite flavors. I'm eating the pepperoni first." (She took the pizza out of the box and took the plastic off. Then she grabbed a pizza pan, sets the bake timer and puts it in the oven.)

Barbara: "There, pizza's in oven." (She looked at the demo and it says Don't Blink on the front. Barbara puts it in her stereo and puts on her headphones. The music plays as she headbangs to the music. She was really enjoying it. When it was finished, the pizza was ready.)

Barbara: "Right on cue." (She walked back into the kitchen and got the pizza out the oven. She used a pizza cutter to cut the pizza however she wanted. Big squares and never triangles. Barbara got a plate and started to get two pieces of pepperoni and cheesy pizza. She went to the table and eats it. Suddenly her phone vibrated and she looked at her phone. It was Dick Grayson texting her.)

Dick: (Texted) "Hey, Barbara."

Barbara: (Texted) "Hey, Dick."

Dick: (Texted) "The cartoons are on channel 7. I'm watching it right now." (Barbara smiled and wiped her greasy fingers on a napkin.)

Barbara: (Texted) "Cool. I'm eating pizza right now."

Dick: (Texted) "Awesome. Is it good?"

Barbara: (Texted) "It's not better than the pizzeria. Their pizzas are fresh everyday."

Dick: (Texted) "I hear you. So, tomorrow is Friday and I was wondering if you would like to go see me perform my acrobatics in the circus at night."

Barbara: (Texted) "Ooh, I don't know. My dad is really busy at night and he expects me to be at home either sleeping or watching tv."

Dick: (Texted) "Aw, come on. My parents will be there and you get to see them for the first time. They're really great and plus you won't be home no later than 8:00 pm. Please?"

Barbara: (Texted) "Okay, but I'll have to ask my dad if I can go."

Dick: (Texted) "That's fine. When do you get home from college?"

Barbara: (Texted) "I'd say about 4:30 ish."

Dick: (Texted) "Perfect and the circus starts at 6:00. That's great. I'll see you then?"

Barbara: (Texted) "Yeah, see you tomorrow."

Dick: (Texted) "Okay. Can't wait to see you, Barbara."

Barbara: (Texted) "You know you can call me Babs. I won't mind at all."

Dick: (Texted) "O..Okay. 😁 Babs. I like that." (Barbara blushed and smiled.)

Barbara: (Texted) "Okay, bye."

Dick: (Texted) "Later." (Barbara puts away her phone and bit her lip.)

Barbara: (Thoughts) "Wow, he's so nice. I think I'm starting to like Dick Grayson and I can't wait to see him. Now, I think I should call Dinah." (She puts Dinah's number in her contacts and speed dialed it. The phone picked up and she answered.)

Dinah: (COM) "Hello, Dinah here."

Barbara: "Hey, Dinah. It's me."

Dinah: (COM) "Who's me?"

Barbara: "Barbara. The girl who you spoke to yesterday afternoon and you gave me your demo."

Dinah: (COM) "Oh, yeah. I remember you now. How'd you like the demo?"

Barbara: "It was phenomenal! You are a spectacular singer!"

Dinah: (COM) "Aw, thanks. Took me loads of practice to get where we are."

Barbara: "I can understand that."

Dinah: (COM) "So, what's up?"

Barbara: "Nothing much. Just called to see how you were doing and how much I really loved your demo."

Dinah: (COM) "Oh, I'm doing fine. How are you, Barbara?"

Barbara: "I feel happy about tomorrow being Friday."

Dinah: (COM) "I know right."

Barbara: "Yeah."

Dinah: (COM) "And speaking of Friday, I should get some sleep. You should, too."

Barbara: "I will. Well, good night. Stay awesome, Dinah."

Dinah: (COM) "Thanks, you too. Bye."

Barbara: "See ya." (She hunged up and yawned. She looked at the time and it was 10:00 pm.)

Barbara: "Gosh, I didn't realize that it was this late. I better get to sleep." (She puts her crusts in the garbage and turned off the tv. She hopped in the bed and went to sleep. A few hours later, Jim came in tired and walking to Barbara's room and saw her sleep. He just smiled and walked to his room because he didn't want to wake her. The next morning, the music played "Simple Plan- Grow Up." Barbara woke up and danced with excitement as she went to the bathroom to wash herself up. After that, she picked out a cool outfit to wear and puts her hair in a ponytail, but made the strands poke out like a porcupines quills. Then she puts eyeliner on and puts lip gloss on to make sure her lips are moist. She puts on her sneakers and headed out the bedroom. Jim was cooking pancakes, bacon and eggs. He looked at Barbara and smiled with pride.)

Jim: "Look at you, my beautiful daughter."

Barbara: "Thanks, dad. It took a lot of work."

Jim: "I bet. Come sit down and eat."

Barbara: "I would love to, dad, but I don't want to be late for school. Tell you what I'll take it with me and eat it on the bus."

Jim: "Okay, you be careful."

Barbara: "I will, dad. Don't worry. Love you. Bye." (She closed the door and Jim locks it.)

Jim: "Love you, too." (He moved his hand away from the door while Barbara made it on the bus.)

Bus driver: "Good morning, Barbara."

Barbara: "Good morning."

Bus driver: "You do know that you're not supposed to eat on the bus, right?"

Barbara: "Yes, but I'll be careful."

Bus driver: "Alright." (Barbara sits in her seat and listens to music while she eats her breakfast. A couple hours later, the students made it to school. Barbara saw the girl she saved yesterday in a wheelchair while crying alone in the ballet class.)

Barbara: (Thoughts) "Oh, no. She's in a wheelchair. Poor girl. She must be lonely in there. I guess I could be her company for a while if my teacher will allow it. Probably not." (She looked both ways and entered the room silently. She closed the door gently and walked towards the girl while looking around the room.)

Barbara: (Thoughts) "Wow, no music? This just got a whole lot darker. Thought ballet was a lighter side, didn't know it can be dark like this." (She approached the girl and kneeled in front of her. The girl was still crying and sniffling.)

Barbara: "Excuse me." (The girl looked and saw Barbara with her tears down her face.)

Girl: "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know you were here."

Barbara: "Oh, no, no. It's okay. I don't really do ballet class. I'm just a student like you."

Girl: "Yeah, was a student and now, I'm a cripple student." (She sobs again and Barbara was really concerned.)

Barbara: "Hey, hey. No, you're not. I mean you are crippled, but don't say that."

Barbara: (Thoughts) "God, Barbara. Do you hear what you're saying right now to this poor girl? She's probably wondering why in the world are you talking to me right now? Leave me alone, redhead."

Girl: "But it's true."

Barbara: "Well, yeah."

Barbara: (Thoughts) "Oh, there you go again with that. Think before you speak, girl! Get that through your numbskull!"

Barbara: "But you're probably a sweet girl and no one is going to call you names throughout the halls."

Barbara: (Thoughts) "Which they probably might. Not that you mentioned it or anything."

Barbara: "Besides, I got your back."

Barbara: (Thoughts) "Do you, now? Will you have her back if you're going out with Grayson or going to the festival to see Ashes On Sunday? You might as well start lying to her right now. She'll never believe you at all."

Girl: "Well, I'm going to not bother you since I'm being a little moody today. Sorry." (She moved her wheelchair to the far corner of the room.)

Barbara: "Then I'm not leaving your side." (She sat next to her in a chair. The girl softly chuckled.)

Girl: "Hm. You know I think you're cool. Not just because of the way you look."

Barbara: "Oh. Okay. Then what?"

Girl: "It's your personality that's cool."

Barbara: "Really?"

Girl: "Mm-hm. I think so."

Barbara: "I think you're pretty cool, too."

Barbara: (Thoughts) "Eh...at least you're honest about that part, but I see your lies. You're not fooling me, sister."

Girl: "I'm glad that you think that way." (Barbara smiled and forgot to introduce herself.)

Barbara: "Oh, where are my manners?"

Barbara: (Thoughts) "Yes, where are your manners? Have you forgotten about mannerisms? Because you need a book about that."

Barbara: "I'm Barbara Gordon." (She took out her hand in front of her.)

Girl: "Commissioner's daughter. I heard. I'm Francine Charles, but you can call me Frankie." (She shook her hand.)

Barbara: "Frankie. Because of Frankenstein?"

Frankie: "I guess so, but what do I know? I don't watch movies like thoses."

Barbara: "Oh." (She looks down for a second.)

Barbara: (Thoughts) "Hold up, Barbara. Are you making fun of her name by using a movie reference? Are you that idiotic? Man, that girl right there makes me want to slap her against a table fifteen times just to see if there is a huge red mark on her forehead."

Barbara: "It's nice to meet you."

Frankie: "Nice to meet you, too, Barbara."

Barbara: "Please call me Babs."

Frankie: "Short and sweet. I like it a lot."

Barbara: "Aww, thanks."

Frankie: "Yeah and thank you for saving me yesterday."

Barbara: "Anytime. I feel so bad about your legs." (Frankie twiddled her thumbs.)

Frankie: "Doctor's said I won't be able to walk in a few months."

Barbara: "That's horrible."

Frankie: "I know. That's why I'm in this wheelchair and they gave me forearm crutches, but I was too scared to use them."

Barbara: "Have you tried to move?"

Frankie: "I've tried, but I was afraid that I would fall down, so I stayed in the wheelchair." (Barbara taps her finger on her chin.)

Barbara: "Hmm. We could always try again."

Frankie: "What?"

Barbara: "Yeah, you can practice walking right here with me."

Frankie: "I don't know."

Barbara: "Come on, you can trust me. If you fall, I will catch you."

Frankie: "O...Okay."

Barbara: (Thoughts) "This is a terrible idea! Sooner or later, she'll start screaming like bloody murder. You're going to kill the poor girl, Barbara! This is really bad and you know it. She might not considered of becoming your friend anymore! Stop this, Barbara!" (Barbara grabbed the crutches and placed it in Frankie's hands.)

Barbara: "Okay, are you ready?"

Frankie: "Uh, I'm not sure about this."

Barbara: "Try. Just try." (Frankie gulped and slowly rose up.)

Frankie: "Oh..."

Barbara: "There you go. You're almost off the ground." (Frankie then plopped back in her seat.)

Frankie: (Sobbing) "I can't do it! I can't do it!" (She sobbed and Barbara was so worried that she hugged her and rubbed her back.)

Barbara: "Shh. It's okay. You just need to keep practicing that's all."

Frankie: "You're right. You're right. I'm so sorry for yelling."

Barbara: "It's alright. I get it."

Frankie: "Thank you." (Barbara looks at her watch and saw the time.)

Barbara: "Yikes. Frankie, I gotta go to class. Stay strong, okay?"

Frankie: "I'll try my best, but I'll stay strong for you."

Barbara: "Good. Um, here's my number. Just so we can keep in touch and if you need me, I'll be here." (She gave Frankie her phone number.)

Frankie: "Okay, thanks."

Barbara: "You're welcome." (She leaves the ballet classroom and went to her classroom.)
