Tony Stark was trying his best. His family in shambles and Pepper still needing her space, he tried to make the most what he had left, putting all of his focus on his company and the new facility, trying to keep a watchful eye on a teenage web-slinger and his ex-teammates that were scattered about the boroughs in hiding. He might have made amends—to an extent, at least—but things were never going to go back to the way they were.
So he moves on with his life, going to much needed therapy, hoping that he'll find something along his long walks through the city as he reflected on the even longer conversations he never would have. And, in a way, he did.
In a whirlwind of events, Tony finds himself reconnecting with Birdie Walsh, an ex-nurse turned defense attorney who struggled to make ends meet as a tired single mother. A woman he had met briefly, years ago, but with whom he had made a quite lasting impact, if the excitable eleven-year-old she called a son was any indication.
Suddenly, Tony finds himself playing the role his father never had, trying his best to find his place in the broken family of the Walsh's. It started out as a favor, but turned into so much more.

AUTHOR'S NOTE
Do we like how the quote at the top can either be for Remy or for Tony? Anyways, here we are, folks, a Tony Stark fic. I gotta say, I never thought I would ever write a fic for this man, but here I am. I really hope I do it justice, because I really do think Tony deserves all the love, and I'm surprised it took me so long to get here.
This takes place after the events of Spider-Man: Homecoming, and will be an AU portion, bridging the gap between Homecoming and Infinity War.

This is dedicated to tinkertaydust and peggyscarter because they're the two that really had me thinking about why I didn't love Tony as much as I should have, and here we are now, so thank you for that, Infinity War is going to be a lot harder now.
